After initiating escape from the barrage of newness at dinner (his sisters certainly had the ability to talk, and talk, and... well, you get the idea), Rhys had scurried as quickly as he could off to try to go find his cabin... Only in the evening light, in this unfamiliar place, he hadn't realized he'd gone the wrong way until it was too late.
The darkness beneath the trees was making the boy jumpy as he started to move between them, skirting around camp in his confusion. The snapping of a twig, a twig he had broken, made him wheel, eyes going momentarily wide...
Nothing. He saw nothing. It was too dark... Rhys murmured under his breath, wishing he could be anywhere but here in this very moment. Something flickered in the corner of his eye, and his head snapped in that direction, opposite of camp. Was that a flashlight? (In reality... it was a product of his untrained ability, the words he didn't realize he'd spoken momentarily bringing a flicker of light to life.... which had promptly died.) Gulping, he started stumbling in that direction.

Ariel hadn't realized that she had been in the forest so long. Good thing she had bought a torch or she would have to try and walk through the darkening forest. Book in hand she shined the light around trying to remember which direction she had come from. She began walking, not paying much attention to where she was going.
Tripping on a stray root, she caught herself from falling flat on her face. Rolling her eyes she stood back up and starting in the same direction as before. This time, paying close attention to the ground in front of her. Suddenly she heard something moving ahead, Ariel shone the light towards the noise, right into the face of a random boy right in front of her. The daughter of Poseidon let out a screamed of suprise (and maybe a little fear), dropping her book and her torch in the process.

Rhys flinched out of the bright light that abruptly consumed that darkness around him, and again at the scream which followed. It'd come out of nowhere... Yet as with the other flicker, it was gone, or rather, significantly dimmed when it was dropped. He glanced down, seeing feet that could only be female within the dim cast... His heart was racing again. First from the darkness, now with the scare, this could hardly get any worse...
"S-Sorry! I'm... lost! Or, ah... New... er... Lost and new!" He explained hastily. Rhy's voice was slurred heavily with his accent as he focused on getting words out rather than pronouncing them in proper American English... He took a half step-back, then a half-step forward, kneeling to retrieve the torch abruptly. "I mean... Sorry."
Even if they had scared the dickens out of each-other, he was somewhat glad that at least another human being were here. He'd go mad wandering the woods by himself in the night.

Ariel almost didn't understand him for a second before realizing that he also had an accent. She had become used to being the only one at camp with one. She watched as he retrieved her torch before quickly ducking down to pick up her book and to try and calm the blush that had crept onto her face because of her outburst.
Standing up straight again she looked sheepishly at the boy, "No, I'm sorry. Shouldn't have ... screamed." Ariel sighed and shook her head, before trying to smile at him. "I'm Ariel, by the way." She said to try and at least make it appear that she was semi normal.

“It was my fault, startling you.” The boy cleared his throat, a hand moving back to rest at the back of his neck for a moment. He had his own sort of mild blush as his eyes cast downward to the ground, then back to her face. “I’m Rhys… I hope your book didn't get… damaged.” He offered, though he again felt the need to explain. “Do you… know the way back to camp? I’m turned around… Its my first time out here.” He shifted his grip on the torch upward carefully, offering her the bottom portion away from the heat.

Ariel quickly glanced down at her book when Rhys mentioned it, noting that it was fine. This wasn't the first time she'd dropped it. She smiled when he said he was new. Ariel could understand how confusing. "Sure, I was just on my way back. I'll show you the way." Taking the torch she flashed it around to figure out the root that she was on. Finding the path the wanted Ariel turned back towards Rhys and smiled, "Come on, this way"
Trapsing through the forest in silence for a few moments, before Ariel became overcome with curiosity. "So, who's your parent?" She asked with a smile.

Rhys moved to follow her abruptly, the moment she mentioned it. He was still jumpy, now not because of her, but due to the darkness. He waited nearly the same span of time she did, before commenting. “Thanks…” It was literally a few seconds before she spoke.
The boy blinked at her question, momentarily going deer-in-headlights. She seemed nice enough. But… well… He had to genuinely consider for a moment, why she’d ask. Not seeing harm in it at the moment, Rhys responded with a quiet, “Apollo. Yours?” His foot scuffed slightly as he followed, slightly curious, but also slightly anxious.

Ariel flashed the light around and managed to get a glimps of Rhys's face. He seemed a little on guard so Ariel tried to calm him with a smile before looking in front of her so she wouldn't trip again. "Poseidon." She answered softly with another smile.
"You have an accent ..." Pointing out the obvious was just Ariel's style. "I bet you're from ..." She looked over at him taking as much as she could see of him in, trying to decifer his accent. "I want to say England, but I don't think that's right." She said with her lips pursed.

He blinked at the sudden flicker of flashlight in his face, eyes filling with black dots for a moment. Rhys stretched his hands up to rub them, grimacing. “Poseidon…. Nice.” His voice was neutral. Clearly he didn’t have the experience to know how special that was. It was of no matter to him though, as he still… was weary of the subject of parents. Rhys hoped she didn’t take his comment the wrong way though.
When she commented on his accent, he gave a smile, n actual smile, which widened to show white teeth as she continued. “Not quite, England. Wales. I noticed one in your voice as well… Though it was harder to snag since I haven’t been around different places in America much.”

Ariel liked when Rhys really smiled. She nearly kicked herself for not picking the Welsh accent. She'd once met a guy from Wales. Lost in her train of thought for a second too long, it took her a minute to realize that he had asked her a question. Throwing a smile at him through the gloom, "I'm not American actually. I'm Australian."
"So have you only just moved over?" The daughter of Poseidon continued through the forest, consentrating more on seeing if Rhys was comfortable than where she was placing her feet. She nearly tripped again. She sighed at herself for being so clumsy tonight before turning back to Rhys, plastering a confident smile back on her face, she pointed to the root. "Watch out for that." She tried to say with a laugh.

“Australian…” He clucked his tongue, offering a small smile. “Sorry, my bad. I haven’t been there before either.” Rhys followed her, calmed down much more now, feeling better than he had in the darkness alone.
At her next question, he rolled a shoulder. “Kind of, in a way I suppose. We came to initially drop me off after me found out about this place, but mother held off for a bit… Then some things happened and we ended up coming anyway.” Really, he realized, he was surprised at how easily talking to this girl came to him. It was actually quite pleasant.
When she commented about the root, he could only laugh. “I’ll keep it in mind.” He spoke as they continued, though after a couple minutes, he saw her about to stumble again and flicked a hand out to catch her arm.

Ariel swore under her breath as she nearly tripped yet again, this time being saved by Rhys. She turned towards him and tried to smile. "Thanks, I don't know why I'm so clumsy tonight!" She said, rolling her eyes at herself. She didn't mind that Rhys had laughed at her when she fell over last time, she usually laughed at herself anyway. But she was grateful that he has stopped her from falling over thins time.
Deciding to pay closer attention to the ground than before, they continued on. "Are you liking camp so far?" She asked quietly while picking her way carefully around a particular group of trees. The nymphs, Ariel knew, would be annoyed if they were woke them up. She motioned to Rhys try and move quietly past them on their way out of the forest.

Rhys offered a sly smile in return. “You’re welcome, and its not a problem.” He chuckled quietly, trying to cover up his slightest bit of amusement. He didn’t wish to offend her. Once she took a couple steps ahead, he stepped over the root, knowing precisely where it was.
He was quiet for a moment, as he moved around the trees, after her next question. “Its… alright I suppose. I almost got beaten up by a son of Zeus because he bumped into me and said I was starting something. He apologized afterward at least. That, and getting lost… Well… You get the picture. I’m sure.”

Ariel's eyebrows furrowed when she heard about Rhys nearly getting beaten up by a son of Zues. The only one she knew was Rayne, sure he was a warrior but Ariel had never been on the recieving end of his bad moods. Pursing her lips she looked back up at Rhys while she stepped carefully over a fallen branch. "Was it Rayne?"
She couldn't help but ask, curiosity taking over once again. Ariel hoped it wasn't Rayne, she didn't know what she would do with that information. Whether she would confront him about keeping his temper or if she would just leave it be. Part of her knew she would have to say something.

He quite suddenly looked uncomfortable. “Yes, however it was a misunderstanding, and like I said, he did apologize. He also offered me combat lessons… Its not that important a situation. Nothing bad came of it.” Rhys felt the urge to defend the boy, for some reason. Perhaps it was because he had redeemed himself afterward, and also perhaps it was because he had been the first to really speak with him at this strange Camp at all. A small part of him wondered if he was being irrational. “Don’t worry of it, Ariel.” He gave a small smile, hoping desperately that she wouldn’t choose to push this issue. He didn’t want the son of Zeus REALLY angry at him.
