I Can Hear the Bells (The Wedding)

[Daphne Scotts]

Daphne just laid there in bed the morning of her wedding. She couldn't believe it, actually. After all those months of planning and it came down to this one day. She rolled over to the other side of the bed to find it cold. Usually, it was warm because Achilles would've left it moments before to do his daily jog, but she kicked him out of the room last night. She was just following the age-old tradition that the bride and groom couldn't see each other before the wedding. She sighed as she stared out the window. It was bright and sunny. A perfect day for a wedding.

Those few moments to herself, didn't last long. It was like an explosion as her door flung open and all of her bridesmaids flooded in. She asked all of Achilles’ sisters and her sisters to be her bridesmaids. She just couldn't narrow them down. But today, they were worse than the Aphrodites ever been. They were screeching as they yanked Daphne out of bed and into the shower. It would a very long couple of hours of preparing before the ceremony.

[Harper Jones]

Harper wasn't going to lie. She LOVED weddings. Ever since her own wedding to Cody, she became obsessed with them. And she was thrilled when Daphne and Achilles announced their engagement, finally, and Daphne asked her to be her matron of honor. Despite all the tension originally between them, Harper was very honored to take such a position.

She pushed all of the other bridesmaids out of the vanity area and told them to get ready. She wanted to have some alone time with the bride herself. She wait in the vanity area until Daphne emerged in a robe and Harper sat her down in front of the mirror as she started messing with her hair. "My brother's lucky, you know," she said as she started brushing it out and curling it. She smiled as she looked at Daphne in the reflection. She seemed tense. "Relax. This is your wedding day. Enjoy it."

Daphne took a deep breath and relaxed into the chair as Harper messed with her hair. "Thanks for doing this for me," she said as her Matron of Honor heated up the curling iron. "It really means a lot to me, especially Achilles." The rest of the beautification was done in silence as Harper curled her hair and put her makeup on. "She's ready," Harper announced as she pulled Daphne out of the chair and threw her into the arms of the crazed bridesmaids. "Get her in the dress!"

Achilles sighed as he got ready. He was so nervous that he could barely keep his hands from shaking. The son of Demeter thought it was ironic that he had spent last night in the same hotel he and Daphne had used to visit his father's grave. "Hey, is my tux here yet?" He called to his best man trying to focus on something to calm his mind. Achilles walked out of the bathroom in shorts and a t-shirt. He was finally shaved and was still waiting for his tux so he could get changed.

"Yeah, right here, bro," John said as he handed Achilles the garment bag. John was actually shocked that Achilles asked him to be his Best Man. John was practically Dawn's best friend since her horrible break up with that one Hades boy, so that was part of the reason. Plus, Charlotte dragged him to all of those political events Harper hosted and ended up hanging out with Achilles. He was a pretty cool to hang out with. "You doing okay?" All of this wedding planning made him think about popping the question to Charlotte, but he wasn't sure. They definitely had their ups and downs.

Achilles looked over at John and sat down on a nearby chair. "No, I'm nervous as hell and can barely keep my hands from shaking." He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. The swordsman stood up and walked over to grab the tux. "Okay, this is going to be a pain." He walked back towards the bathroom to go get changed.

Daphne stood in front of the full-length mirror smoothing out the wrinkles of her white dress. She did this about fifteen times already. Harper was on door duty making sure that the groom didn't see the bride before the ceremony. "You're fine," she said as she leaned up against the door. "You look like the picture-perfect bride." Daphne smiled a bit at her compliment as she turned back towards the mirror. She wasn't a big dress person, but she really liked this dress for some odd reason. There was a knock on the door and Harper opened it making sure it wasn't her brother. But she smiled and let the couple in. It was Zeus and Daphne's mother, Marcia. She made it after all.

Marius smiled as he walked up to the house. He had left Valeria with Noelle to finish getting ready for the ceremony itself. The son of Hermes looked at his monkey, Shogun. The little primate grinned back at him and gave a thumbs up. Shogun sat on Marius' shoulder and seemed excited about seeing Daphne again after missing her for so long. The little monkey had a little tux jacket on. "Are you happy with your choice to wear that, man?" Marius was a little skeptical about it, but Shogun nodded and pointed at the door. The thief grinned as he stopped in front of the door and knocked on it.

Harper realized that it was Daphne's parents who walked in. Her future in-laws, lovely. She smiled at them as she opened the door. "I'll let you guys have your alone time." Then she left the room with a helpless Daphne. She didn't notice the pleading look on her face. Harper heard a knock on the front door and went to answer it. "Well, hello," she said with a smirk when she found out it was Marius and Shogun. "Come on in." She opened the door wider to let him inside. "Daphne's in the bedroom with her parents if you want to see her before she becomes a married woman."

Daphne's jaw dropped a bit as she saw her parents walk through the door. But she quickly faked a smile instead for the sake of her mother. However, Harper picked this to be the completely perfect time to leave and Daphne almost freaked out a bit. But before she could do anything, Zeus walked up to her and gave her a hug.

"My baby girl all grown up," the king of the gods said as he pulled away. "You look so beautiful, Daph. Doesn't she look beautiful, Marcia?" Marcia didn't really move from the door like Zeus. But she smiled and nodded her head. "Yes," she agreed. "She looks lovely." Daphne was kinda surprised that there was no yelling. Then again, the last time she talked to her mother was when she surprised her on her 18th birthday. That was a disaster and a half. Zeus smiled as he turned back to Daphne. "So, are you ready for us to give you away?"

Daphne froze for a minute. "Us? Dad, I thought you were giving me away?"

Zeus chuckled for a bit as he glanced over at Marcia. "Your mother and I decided it would be appropriate since we're both here to give away our daughter. If that's alright with you, of course."

"Yeah, sure," Daphne said quickly with a strained smile. It's only one day, Daph. One day and you'll never have to see the woman again, hopefully.

[Marius Rodomonte]

Marius frowned at Zeus as he walked into the room. He had never been on good terms with any of the Olympians, except maybe Aphrodite, but that's just because she finds Marius and Valeria's relationship unbearably sweet. "Hey Daphne." The son of Hermes walked over to the bride and gave her a quick hug. "How are you?"

It was a good twenty minutes since Achilles stepped into the bathroom to change. John knew it didn't take that long to put on a tux. Hades, he knew it could take under two minutes to put that bad boy on with all of his runway experience. John worried he was getting cold feet and knocked on the door. "Yo, Achilles," he called out. "You doing okay in there?"

"Honestly?" Daphne asked Marius with a huge sigh.. "Nervous. Completely nervous." Marcia and Zeus took that moment to excuse themselves from the room, but not without leaving a box on the dresser for Daphne. Daphne didn't notice the box at first, but she was relieved her parents left the room. "It feels like I could puke butterflies with the way my stomach's feeling. And it doesn't help that she's here." She glanced up at her friend's shoulder to see his monkey companion. She forgot about her worries for a bit as a smile grew on her face. "Hey, Shogun. Nice to see you're spiffed up for the ceremony. Ready to be my ring bearer?"

Achilles walked out of the bathroom, still trying to get on these infernal cuff links. "I can't get these things on. My hands are shaking too much." He sighed as he sat down a chair and rubbed his forehead. "This is frustrating." The son of Demeter looked up at John. "Don't you dare say anything."

Uriel was pacing around the dressing room, he was going to make this performance flawless. He started to pant, the four time Tony Award winning and one time Grammy award winning actor was getting nervous. His friend and teacher was going to be married, he should really be on top of his game.

Uriel grabbed his shades and placed it on before walking towards his seat and sitting there comfortably, it was going to be a long night.
