Mina yawned, ambling into the arena and stretching her arms behind her back. Finding the arena quiet, she yawned again and then bent down so she was touching her toes. Stretching lazily, she flexed one leg then the other and slowly rose. Stretching her arm muscles, she eyed the selection of archery targets with a glare and then unstrapped her bow from her back. Testing the string, she checked it over with a critical eye for defects and then gave it an experimental flex. Bringing an arrow forward, she slotted it into the right position and then pulled it taut. Curling her fingers around the string, she braced herself and then let the arrow go. Replacing it with another arrow, she went again.
Crack. Thud. Thwack.
Finishing her supply of arrows, Mina sighed and then walked over to get them. Her body was stuffed into a tight, low-riding set of white pedal pushers that accentuated her figure and a tight midriff bearing halter neck in 50s style. Her long hair had been pulled back into a beehive and then captured with a red tie to form a Rosie the riveter look. Bringing back the arrows, her arm brought one back to the string.
Hearing something, she turned with the arrow still cocked in the string.

The young woman headed to where one of her ..siblings she guessed she should call them..had said that the arena was normally empty in this time of day and that it would do her good to get some practice in. What she needed to practice for she had no idea. The nurse would much rather be healing wounds and taking care of patients even if it was just simple tasks like staying by someone's side or getting water..if she could find a water source that was. Sarah had not seen a creek or river once since stepping foot into the camp.
She was dressed in a gown. She had changed out of her torn nurse's gown and had slipped on the town that she had brought with her. The gown was supposed to have been worn when she had arrived home. Last she had heard her parents had moved to the plantation and left their house in Manhatten. The British regular's were getting a little to close for comfort for them and so they made the decision to move to the plantation they owned. Though the plantation was normally where they had stayed it was more of a home to Sarah them the house in Manhatten.
She was dressed in a blue gown and her white mutton cap was still on her head. Her hair was up in the same fashion it had been when she had arrived. Walked to where the Are a was she accidently stepped on a twig. A young woman turned. A bow held in her hands and an arrow facing towards Sarah knocked. Sarah stood there...though a little frightened at the prospect of dying she reassured herself that if the girl did shoot she may be with her family in the afterlife. Her grey eyes scanned the young woman. Sarah knew she should've watched where she was going. A twig snapping like that if she had accidently found a British camp would've most likely resulted in her death fi she couldn't get out fast enough.

"Oh, its only you," Mina replied as she saw the girl standing in front of her, dressed in some weird thing like she was going to a historical reenactment thing. Carefully disarming her bow, she swung the arrow back into her quiver and holstered the bow by shoving it over her left shoulder like some of her fellow history actors had done back in France, string to the side. The two were a portrait in opposites, Sarah completely covered and Mina barely so. Her entire stomach area was revealed, as well as her waist and some of her hips from where the three quarter length pants sat.
"You here to do some fighting?" she asked casually, looking the girl up and down critically. "Cause if you are, those sleeves of yours are gonna get stuck real quickly. You off to a civil war fake battle or something?"

The girl with the bow let the arrow drop from the bow and put the bow on her shoulder while the arrow went in the quiver on her back. Alarmed at the girl's outfit she could hardly believe what the young woman was wearing. Her stomach, and hips were revealed...such a thing would've been prohibited in her day..not that anyone she knew would dress like that. No man would want a woman with her entire stomach and hips showing.
"Yes Ma'am." She answered. Sarah frowned at the words 'civil war'. What was the civil war? It must've happened after the Revolutionary War. "No Ma'am." She answered without elaborating. The nurse was aghast. Why would anyone have a fake battle? Battles were not something to be repeated. She assumed that the fake battles were for entertainment. Why anyone would want to watch a battle for entertainment was crazy. "I am Sarah Worthing." The young woman said introducing herself to the older girl.

Mina giggled at the idea of being called 'ma'am.' Abd naturally, she said so, "Why're you calling me ma'am? Thats a weird title. Nobody here calls anyone ma'am or sir. We call each other by our first names, or nicknames if we want. Like. there's this one guy whose real name is Zenodyme or something, but that's a stupid name to have so I call him Zero."
Approaching the girl, she smiled and held out a hand. "I'm Mina Viteri. Nice ta meet you."
Looking her up and down again, Mina grinned. "So, what type of fighting were you looking at doing, Sarah? Like I said, those sleeves aren't at all practical so you're not gonna want to do close quarters fighting. Can you fight already?"

Sarah simply nodded. The Revolutionary War nurse had grown up calling those she didn't know 'Ma'am' or 'Sir'. It was habit for her and the habit would be hard to break..though she doubted that she'd break the habit now. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Mina." She said with a small smile on her face.
"I don't know Ma-Mina. I can fight a little with a dagger and I've held my own in a battle once before. Dagger's are easier to hide in my skirt if I need to." She said answering Mina's questions. She had almost called Mina Ma'am again but had luckily remembered. The daggers were small and easy to hide in the folds of her skirt or even a sleeve if she had to. She had never trained with a sword before or a bow and arrow. The bow was more likely to snap then a sword though if a sword gets tossed out of your reach you are dead. She had seen it happen before and no doubt would see it happen again. At least with a bow and arrow even if the bow snaps arrows can still be thrown until you run out. Bows and arrows were not used on the battle fields. Instead swords, muskets, and bayonets were used along with cannons and the calvary.

"Daggers are good an all but the problem is that you gotta get in real close to do any major damage and by the time you get close enough, well, half the time you're grabbed," Mina shrugged. "That's mainly why I didn't pick the dagger when I was doing historical reenactments. Too much chance I'd get my ass handed to me by my opponent. Now a bow...bows are sturdy if made right and you can stay out of the action while dealing maximum damage. Buts that's just me. Whatever works, works."
Dusting off imaginary dirt from her pedal pushers, the blonde gave a yawn. "Excuse me."
"Well, if you want to learn how to fight with something else, I can recommend the Ares cabin. They're beaucoup insane for weapons. Or. y'know, me. I'm not afraid of getting into a crap." She winked elaborately at Sarah then stuck her hands in her pockets and rocked back on one heel.
"What else do you do when you're not daggering people then?" she asked her.

Sarah nodded as Mina spoke. She hadn't know that bows could be sturdy..it seemed like the bow string would snap not to mention the fact that a quiver only held so many arrows and once the arrows were out you were done for. Sarah looked up alarmed at hearing that the Area cabin was insane for weapons. They sounded like the Hessians. The Hessians were hired by the British soldiers and they were very good fighters from what she had overheard from hearing the soldiers talk.
"I assume people get hurt then training with the Ares cabin?" She asked. "I'm a nurse. I treated our injured soldiers during the war. Most of my time was spent taking care of the injured. I didn't have much time for myself and our troops came first. I usually sew clothing or get the blood stains out of my uniform. I was either sewing, sleeping, washing clothes, sleeping, or taking care of the injured soldiers. I didn't have time for anything else though occasionally I danced if we were celebrating and not many soldiers were hurt and there was nothing I could do." A smile spread across her face as she talked of home and dancing. She could invision the dances she had done clearly in her memory.

"Probably," Mina replied with a shrug. "I haven't met any of them yet, I'd rather stay away or play tricks on them from a distance. Not interested in any silly Ares folk, to be honest. But I hear things, y'know. And anyone using weapons is bound to get hurt, just by using 'em. After all, its not like you can just pick up a sword and go hacking. Ya gotta learn, practise and all."
Tilting her head to the aide as Sarah explained her hobbies, Mina watched her smile and then piped up again. "What soldiers? You from somewhere warlike?"
