Calum was seated on the beach. Darkness was around him and only the light of the moon shone down upon the sea and sand. It was dark, but Calum happily sat with a book on his lap, reading away. He probably read this book over ten times already but he couldn't help but love it dearly. The Lord of the Rings, the Fellowship of the Ring. It was quite a read but well, Calum didn't really have many other things to do at night either way. During the night most people were quiet and silent and asleep. Calum lived mostly during the time his mother had her power. It was night, Nyx, that he was loyal to. She was strange, beautiful and well, his mother. He had never actually seen her that he remembered but he found more comfort in having a strange concept like night to cherish as his mother than a physical being that didn't visit him every single day. Or rather, night. Calum felt blessed and smiled as he turned a page. His favourite characters were around and he quite enjoyed their interaction.
With a soft sigh he read on, captured by the adventures of his beloved characters even after having read that same book multiple times. The night was still young and the moon was rising, driving through the sky. In a way, Calum couldn't help but wonder if the night truly was more feminine than day. Night had mostly patron Goddesses, his mother and Artemis being prime examples. He also noticed that Apollo, Helios and well, most things he associated with day were male Deities. Calum had a large amount of respect for woman and really admired the huntresses, although he would never think of dating them. He considered it amusing they seemed to hate all males though. When a sudden noise caught his attention he decided to close his book. His hand reached for the coiled chain hanging on his belt and in an instant his hands were wrapped around the cool metal. "Who's there?" He asked suspiciously, his eyes scanning the area. If they wanted to attack him, they'd need a ranged weapon, not to mention great aim.
