She had to laugh a bit. "Well, I guess Drake kind of acts like a middle age guy sometimes. I guess that's why he fits in just fine." She rolled her eyes a bit. "I just know he just likes pushing big rocks and using brooms... it's honestly a very odd sport and I have no idea why it's even one."

Danielle froze for a moment when Tawny mentioned the Olympics. That was something that Danielle wanted to do and she would've done anything in her power to do, but she also knew that it was something out of her power. She shook her head as she looked down at her salad for a moment before looking up at Tawny. "Olympics are kind of out of the question," she said a bit softly as she shrugged her shoulders. "Our parents are hardcore legionnaires and they want us serving before we think of anything else and I know I'll be out of my prime when my time here is done."

Tawny called it like she saw it and yeah Curling was definitely a weird sport for the Olympics. Sliding rocks and sweeping ice was quite a bit different than snowboarding, skiing or even ice skating. Those at least provided some thrills. There was nothing thrilling about curling at all that Tawny could see. “I hear you. Honestly all that sweeping they do seems more like work than fun.”

The laughing soon stopped though as the conversation got a little serious. Apparently the Olympics were a pretty sore topic with the girl which was a bummer. Tawny could understand. Most ice skaters, at least women, usually participated when they were young. That didn’t really work well with a demigod whose main job it was to serve in the legion. While Tawny could still look forward to some years ahead of her like her mom, Danielle would probably never get the chance at the Olympics, at least in ice skating. “That’s a major drag but I get it. Maybe you could do some ice dancing or pairs, they're usually older and you’d still be doing what you love.”

Danielle shrugged her shoulders a bit. "Ice dancing is just a lot of footwork, which isn't something I like and for pairs..." She had to roll her eyes a bit as she laughed. "I would actually have to find someone who could keep up with me and trust. I mean, half of the time I'll have whoever flinging me around, so I gotta trust him that he can actually skate and throw someone without hurting them." She pressed her lips together. An idea had been weighing on her in the back of her mind and she wondered if it was actually a possibility. Besides, Danielle wanted to compete by herself, not share the glory with someone else. At least, not yet. She put her fork down as she looked at Tawny. "Do you think people would be interested if we created a demigod-only Olympics around here?"

Pairs might be her best shot but Tawny could see how meeting other top class ice skaters would be a bit difficult in New Rome. Unless her brother suddenly took up and interest she imagined that Danielle probably was really screwed which was never a fun feeling. There was no way around it…or was there? Tawny had never thought about it before but why didn’t they have Roman Olympics or X-Games competitions? Sure they weren’t Greeks but the gods technically did invent the games and there were more than enough super talented demigods here to make it happen.

“I think it would be a great idea. Don’t know how much interest we would have but I would definitely be up for the challenge.” She opened her can of red bull and took a swig enjoying the rush of energy she got which was a welcome relief from the sleepy haze. “I’d be willing to bet we weren’t the only ones either and hey, it would be a totally awesome break from training and the war games. Why not give it a shot?”

It was a bit silly of Danielle to confide in Tawny about her dream when a little bit ago she was almost the victim of a hit and run. But she knew her parents thought it would be a ridiculous idea and Drake would probably have no interest competing at an Olympic level. And to be honest, Danielle didn't really have that many friends around camp.

But Tawny thought it wasn't a stupid idea, which made Danielle very relieved. She relaxed as she dug into her salad again. “I think we'd have some interest in it. Probably not enough to fill every sport but enough to justify having one. I might bring it up with the Praetors… well, maybe just with Fin since Cheyenne always seems… grumpy whenever I see her.”

"Probably a good idea." Tawny said as she downed more of her drink. "Nothing against the queen bee but she can seriously harsh my mellow sometimes. It's all good though because surely we could find enough people who had some real interest." Who knew if it would go anywhere but the thought of getting to have an actual fun competition instead of the constant War Games was pretty compelling. You didn't even have to be a demigod to get behind that idea.

"Sounds like you've been thinking about this a lot. You got anything planned?" Granted this wouldn't come together tomorrow or anything like that but it was just smart to have your ducks in a row if you were putting on something this big. For her own part Tawny didn't even know how they would begin to get something like this organized. Still, maybe Danielle had been doing a little more than brain storming. "Bet we could even do most of it in the coliseum if we wanted."

"She might be down for it as long as we can promise karate being one of the sports," Danielle said with a shrug. "She'll probably pull Fin into it as well since he has a karate background as well. But I think he'd be better off approaching her about the idea since I just have a feeling that I'd manage to rub her the wrong way." But this idea she had of hers was looking promising for once, which was more than exciting. Especially since she sort of had the framework for everything slightly planned out.

"Coliseum, Fields of Mars, the skating rink," Danielle rambled as the ideas started pouring out. "We can even venture into the lake or even the river for some of the water-based sports. We just have so much potential here and we're wasting it and I know some legionnaires leave because of it... so this is a good way to keep almost everybody happy, you know?"

Tawny chuckled. "I don't know how many other people would be up to going against her. I'm pretty crazy but I don't have a death wish." She was kidding...mostly. Honestly she didn't know who she felt sorry for more, the person who went up against Cheyenne or the person that actually beat her. Either way karate wasn't really Tawny’s thing but it was another sport to add to their growing list of events people could sign up for. Maybe this thing could come together after all.

"I could do a little surfing. Anything with a board is pretty awesome in my book but I hear you. Having some variety is always good." This idea was sounding better and better by the minute. The only real question was how did they get this thing off the ground? "Hey, if you need somebody to help you present the idea to the Praetors I'd be up for it. This idea may just be crazy enough to work."

“Maybe just give Cheyenne the gold without her having to hurt anyone? That way she has more bling she can add to her collection,” she said with a bit of a smirk. “Besides, I think Fin would just let her win since she'd get completely intense.” Fin was probably the only person sane enough to go up against Cheyenne in the first place. But the more they talked about it, the more it seemed like this crazy idea of hers could completely become reality.

And the best part? Tawny seemed completely on board with the idea. Danielle smiled widely as she nodded her head. “Yeah, definitely. I think we need to iron out the details, but I'd like it if you'd join me to present it to Fin.”

“We probably would at least have to make a show of it. I’m not sure how she would take just being handed the gold medal without a fight.” Danielle was right about Cheyenne being intense. The Praetor would likely view a medal not earned as one that wasn’t worth winning. There might still be a few ways to get it by her however. “Maybe we can convince Fin to put up enough of a fight to make things interesting. At least then she might think that she beat out the competition.”

It was amazing how fast this idea was coming together. If they could work out some more competitions and drum up a little interest among the demigods then it might just turn into more than idea. They only way to make that happen though was to go through the Praetors one way or the other. “Sure thing. I don’t know how much help one skateboarder will be but I’m down. If we actually make this work I think we would be responsible for one of the most awesome things this place has seen in a while.”

“You do have a point there,” Danielle agreed before digging into her salad she had forgot about for a moment. “It probably wouldn't be too hard to convince Fin to put on a show. I swear he's the type to do anything to make sure she's happy.” And if Cheyenne could get on board with the idea, then the Olympics were bound to happen and that made her more and more excited about it.

“And I'm just a figure skater,” Danielle replied back as she rose her eyebrows. “But maybe if we can get that word out and drum up some more interest, then it won't just be you and me presenting. If they can see how many people are interested, then it's very hard for them to say no.”

Danielle as right. They may have been just a figure skater and a skateboarder but that didn't necessarily mean they were destined for failure. Besides, when had the threat of failure ever stopped Tawny from doing something she wanted to do? There was more too. There was just something appealing about going up against huge odds and somehow pulling off the impossible and while she certainly didn't think something like this was impossible it would definitely be a pretty tall order for the both of them.

"I like the way you think Danielle." Tawny said with a deciding nod before chugging the rest of her energy drink. She was feeling much more alive now and this idea of theirs seemed pretty awesome. "Alright I'm in. We'll make the Praetors an offer they can't refuse, drum up some interest around New Rome and camp and then we are totally going to crush some Roman Olympic games. This is going to be one wild ride."

"It's definitely going to be," Danielle agreed as she nodded her head as she finally decided to focus her attention on the salad for once since she sat down. But she ate with a satisfied smirk. This dream of hers was so close to being a reality and that was so exciting. Almost too exciting that she found it a little bit hard to really eat when she was feeling all giddy inside. But once she was mostly done, she thought she could focus on the plan on hand.

"So I guess it's a matter of rallying up the troops and making the plans more solid," she said as she finally set her fork down. "It really shouldn't be too hard, honestly. I know a lot of the campers are pretty athletic around here and they probably want a chance to show off their talents."

"Sounds that way." Tawny said as she finished up her food. "We could put up some fliers or something asking if anyone had interest to get in touch with us. We probably need to see what kind of events everyone wants to see and once we know what competitions we're going to have we'll know what we need to present to the Praetors. Sound like a plan?" Tawny was already thinking of some places around town where they could advertise. Anywhere that was going to be frequented by a lot of demigods who might have that competitive streak would be good and fortunately those were the kinds of people Tawny hung out with the most.

"I know a few guys who could probably help us get the word out. A couple of my Mercury uncles still live in town and they are always up for crazy sports stuff. I'll check around with the people I know and see if we can't drum up some interest and in the mean time we can start thinking about how we are going to get this past Fin."

Danielle nodded her head as Tawny mentioned about fliers or something. Fliers would be good, but they would have to keep them away from the Praetors for as long as possible before they could present their idea. "Fliers are definitely a good idea," she said as she nodded her head. "And it would be a pretty effective way of getting the word out as well. We just need to sit down and make some, but it shouldn't really be too hard, right?" But getting the word out wouldn't be too hard. Between the fliers and word of mouth, they would probably have enough interest for the games.

"That's really good too," she said as she glanced as her watch and cringed a bit. "I'm late," she said as she looked up at Tawny as she gave her an apologetic look. "And I might be keeping you away from something as well, but I need to meet up with my brother about something. I don't know. He didn't really specify." She started cleaning up her salad as she looked back up at Tawny. "But I can see you later so we can finalize a plan of attack?"
