Anya rolled her eyes as he fidgeted and felt downcasted for his powers with rainbows and colors. "Whoever told you that is an idiot. You can be creative with your powers and be useful. There's more to life than the legion you know? And even the most narrow-minded soldier feels better with a little color and art in their lives even if they won't realise it." She told him confidently as she watched the last colors of the miniature rainbow fade from her hands.
Fiddling with her ipod, Anya smiled as Austin mentioned her ice powers, finding the pun rather fitting in this scenario "Yeah it is pretty cool, though I would prefer it didn't come with cool skin even in summer. It has freaked out my friends and schoolmates one too many times." She looked at the lake once more as it was now turning dark enough to not be able to see properly. "I'm still figuring this out though. I don't know what I can do, other than maybe freeze a soda without any help from a refridgirator. Probably explains why I'm so good at iceskating, besides hard work."

Austin smiled at her a little. Anya was nice but the simple fact was that being an artist wasn’t really something that made him that useful around the Legion. At least he was in the fifth so not much was expected of him anyways but if he wanted to get any respect from some of the higher ranking cohorts he needed to prove his worth as a fighter and he didn’t think that would be happening any time soon. Still, he didn’t want to say that out loud especially since Anya was just trying to help. “Thanks. It is really nice to uh meet someone who doesn’t automatically think an artist is going to umm…suck…as a legionnaire.”
It wasn’t that big a deal. It didn’t mean he was going to stop doing his job or anything like that but it was good to know your limits. Something which Anya apparently didn’t know herself. Austin gave her a curious look but for the most part he didn’t want to push her into talking about anything that would be awkward for her. “You’ll get it in time and don’t worry too much. I bet you would be pretty good at ice skating even without your powers. Maybe they just help you out with it, kind of like mine with my painting.”
