Hailey’s face only seemed to get redder as Genie talked about how she managed to find a guy, especially since she wasn’t a human for that long. She reached up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear as she ducked her head a bit. At least Genie wasn’t prying for more details, yet. Maybe once she saw Theo and hung up with him more. That would probably cause a lot of questions and Hailey wasn’t quite sure if she wanted her siblings to know about Theo quite yet. She chuckled lightly as she glanced up at her sister. “I think that being something cute and tiny helps,” she said in a half-hearted attempt at a joke.
But she took another tissue from her sister before she leaned back on the bed to rest on her forearms. “Thanks, Genie,” Hailey said quite abruptly as she looked over at her sister. “For everything. You didn’t have to do it, but thanks.”

Well Hailey I hate to tell you but unless you've got an identical twin running around here... Hailey froze dead in her tracks when she heard that. Identical twin. Identical twin. "Oh my gods..." she muttered underneath her breath as everything else Theo was saying was drowned out by the ringing in her ears and the blood rushing through them. Identical twin. Was it even possible? She was supposed to dead. Long dead. Years dead. However, she heard of campers coming back when they were presumed to be dead. Was she possibly one of them?
Hailey didn't know how to possibly comprehend it all and she seemed to lose control of her hands as she dropped the board games onto the floor and their contents spilled everywhere. Identical twin. She looked at Theo as her mouth opened and closed a couple of times. She was probably looking like she was crazy to him and, honestly, she was feeling crazy. She never thought in her wildest dreams that this would ever happen to her.
"Theo... I..." she stuttered out as she tried to collect her thoughts, which were going a million miles per minute in her mind. "I have... had a twin..." She sighed as she moved to push her hair out of her face and grip it slightly. "Her name is... was Hannah. We are... were identical twins." She pressed her lips together as she looked at him, wondering if he was buying it. "She died over a year ago after a monster attack in the forest." She lowered her hands as her voice dropped to a barely audible, "Is she alive again? Oh gods..."

As Genie stepped out of the room for a moment, Hailey took the opportunity to compose herself. She reached up to wipe away her tears as she took more deep breaths to keep even more tears at bay. She straightened up a bit as Genie walked back into the room with a box of tissues and she handed one to her. Hailey took it as she mouthed a thanks to her sister before reached up to dab at her eyes, getting any tears she missed earlier.
Who else would you need to impress? It was such an innocent question, but at the same time, Hailey's face heated up in an intense blush. "I... Umm..." She looked down at her lap as she clasped her hands together. "There might be one guy," she muttered underneath her breath.

As Hailey looked up at Theo, she could feel the tears well up in her eyes. He had to be completely delusional. This wasn't the Theo she knew at all. He never acted like this every time she ran into him up until now. And now he thought he went all the way with her? She blinked back the tears as she shook her head. "You have to be imagining things, but I have never slept with you. Hell, I think I would remember that happening."
She closed her eyes as she felt a couple of tears streak down her cheeks. "Theo..." she managed to say before she choked back a sob. She took a deep breath as she shook her head. "I'm sorry..." she backed away from him, still using the board games in her hands as a physical barrier and a tear catcher. "I don't think we should have our game night anymore..."

I thought we had worked through all of this? Hailey turned back at Theo and blinked up at him. They worked through something? Since when? Her face heated up more as he brushed a strand of hair out of her face. Was bringing someone a stuff jackalope a new kink or did it signal that the person wanted to get it on? If that was the case, then Hailey was a jackalope for far too long. She took a step back away from Theo as she shook her head.
"I... Theo... I..." she stuttered out as her face seemed to get even redder. "I don't understand," she finally blurted out as she shook her head. "I only gave you a stuffed jackalope, which was a very cheesy gesture." She pressed her lips together as she looked up at him. "I don't understand how that qualifies as working through things?"

But was it worth it that she followed her heart for a boy who in turned basically dumped her when she was in her most vulnerable state? Hailey didn't necessarily agree, but then again, she wouldn't have met Theo if she didn't turn herself into a jackalope. Maybe there was a light at the end of this tunnel? Hailey didn't know, but she did know she liked that Genie was right here for her now.
She laughed slightly at Genie's description at a jackalope as she reached up to brush off the stray tears on her cheek. "Probably some tissues would be nice," she said softly as she shook her head. "I don't think I want to leave this room quite yet... especially when I'm looking like this. At least I looked better than when I was a jackalope."

Last time? Hailey thought to herself as she gave Theo a completely confused look. The last time she saw him, she gave him a stuffed jackalope as he proceeded to tease her to the point where she thought she was going to die of blushing. Unless her memory was completely failing her, there was nothing from that day that was completely tiring or wearing. He had to be completely imagining things, unless all that magic messed with his head more than she thought. She moved to go inside the cabin, but she was completely caught off guard.
He had his hands on her waist and he pulled her up against him. She looked up at him wide eyed as she wondered what had gotten into him at that moment. But she noticed how close his lips were to hers and her face heated up more as she looked up at him at the time to catch him lick his lips and lean in towards her. She panicked and she tried to turn her head so his lips would get her cheek instead, but she was took slow and he caught the corner of her lips. She turned her head back towards him as she froze as he felt his lips on hers. He was kissing her. He was kissing her. Her instincts took over for a moment before she pulled away from his lips with an intense blush on her face.
"I... ummm..." she tried to stuttered out as she tried to pull her thoughts together about what just happened.

Hailey was still completely confused by Theo's behavior. He had been flirty in the past, but he hadn't implied anything before now except for maybe kissing. But he was looking forward to this too? She wasn't the only one? Hailey couldn't help but duck her head and nodded her head slightly. "I was looking forward to this too," she said as she blushed slightly. She looked back at him as she smiled slightly. But grown up fun? Was he expecting something more than monopoly? Her face heated up a bit more before she nodded her head inside. "Yeah... umm... Monopoly can be very... tiring?" she squeaked before she cleared her throat. "May I come in?" she asked as she hoped things will stay pretty innocent for now.

As Hailey kept her eyes closed as she felt Genie pull her in closer and she rested her head on her shoulder. Hailey took a deep breath as she felt the tears well up in her eyes. It was still too fresh for her and here she was admitting it to her sister. It was still too much. Coming back as human and dealing with all these emotions she was experiencing, especially over a certain Hecate boy... it was proving to be too much. Tears welled up in her eyes as she took a shaky breath, especially when Genie said she always had a home in the Hephaestus cabin.
"I was ashamed," she said quietly as she shook her head slightly. "I was ashamed or else I would've come back sooner... so much sooner..."

Hailey heard footsteps from inside the cabin walking towards the door and she prepared herself for either Saphron opening the door or the confetti and streamers that Theo promised. She got neither. Instead, she just got Theo. No dramatics. No nothing. It was... quite out of the ordinary. "So no show today? I even brought the broom!" she said as she looked him over, making sure he looked like he was feeling alright. But she looked up at him in the eyes as he mentioned fireworks. When did he play with dangerous explosives? Something was completely off, but she couldn't put her finger on it.
"Fireworks?" she repeated as she blinked a couple of times. "Are you doing okay?" If he was trying to hit on her, it was going completely over her head. She shook her head trying to pus that thought out of her head as she looked down at the board games in her hands. "I brought Candyland and Pretty Pretty Princess like I promised," she said as she looked up at him. "But I also brought Monopoly in case we needed a little bit of grown up fun."

The questions didn't come and Hailey couldn't help but feel slightly relieved. Genie was just listening and not talking, so Hailey could explain things at her own pace. She leaned against her sister once she offered it. It was nice having a sister. A sane one. Not one that liked to run around and terrorize the camp. But now, Hailey didn't have to worry about her anymore. Instead, she got to worry about cute Hecate boys. But that wasn't something she wanted to focus on at this exact moment. She glanced over at her sister and gave her a sad smile.
"I've could've been home sooner," Hailey said as she looked at Genie. "I couldn't come back until now because..." she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She could do this. Genie wouldn't judge her. "I broke my oath. I left the Hunters because I broke my oath... and I was turned into a jackalope because I broke it. I couldn't come back until now."

Hailey couldn't help but look forward to this game night with Theo. She managed to stay pretty busy with Genie and their chariot making up until now, so she hadn't gotten the chance to see him since the night in his cabin. But tonight was their game night and Hailey couldn't help but feel just a little bit nervous. She dressed up a lot nicer than usual and checked with her siblings several times to make sure that it wasn't overkill. But once she decided she looked decent enough, she gathered the board games she selected. It was a curated collection of Candyland, Pretty Pretty Princess, and Monopoly. She knew two out of the three games could guarantee a pretty fun night. With one last check in the mirror, she grabbed the broom along with her games and headed out the door. And she immediately became nervous. Her heart was beating in her chest and she was pretty sure she wanted to puke. Was this a bad idea? It had to be a super bad idea, but yet her feet kept moving towards the Hecate cabin. Maybe Theo forgot... maybe he wasn't home and Hailey could just go back to her cabin and forget about this entire night they had planned. Maybe things could be okay... But she got onto the porch of the cabin and from the looks of it, someone was inside. Maybe Theo was here. Maybe he wasn't. But Hailey couldn't chicken out now. Hailey laughed as she shook her head. "When don't you have a trick up your sleeves?" she asked as she smiled at him. Maybe game night wouldn't be such a bad thing. Board games and candy and a couple of hours with Theo. What else could go wrong with something as innocent as that? But she had something to look forward to in a very long time. She laughed again as she rolled her eyes. "I think I can go that long. I think I can survive. I mean, my sister and I are..."
She paused mid-sentence as her eyes went wide. "Oh crap," she said as she reached to push her hair back. "My sister and I are building a chariot together and I needed too meet her... like ten minutes ago." She gave Theo a sympathetic smile as she moved towards the door. "I have to go, but I'll see you on game night, okay? Bye Theo." She gave him one last smile before heading out the door and heading towards the forges.

Hailey looked over at her sister and smiled slightly as she went to sit on her bed. Her bed. For once in a really long while, she would have her own bed, not the ground or some bed she borrowed from the Hecate kids. Her own bed. She blinked for a couple of moments as she realized that Genie was talking to her. They didn't have to rush... they could take it easy... that was the complete opposite of what she was completely used to... and it was nice...
She smiled at her sister as she moved to sit down besides her. She took a deep breath as she looked at her. If she was going to tell anyone about what happened, she might as well start with her sister. "I left the hunters," she said as she looked over at her sister. "I left them a while ago... but I wasn't allowed to come back here. Well, at least not when I was in the shape I was in..." She looked down at her hands as she waited for her sister to process and start asking her all sorts of questions.

They had a date for their game night… date. Was it a date? Hailey wasn’t quite sure, but she finally warmed up to the idea of spending more time with Theo, even if it was through the form of a date. There were worse things that could’ve come of it, right? A game night was the least of her problems at the moment and it was something she could look forward to along with chariot building with her sister.
And once again, Theo was up to his old teasing. Hailey smiled slightly as she tried to take deep breaths to not have her cheeks become bright red. She shrugged her shoulders a bit. “Just know that jackalopes really don’t like rabbit food. I mean, we’re part rabbit and part deer, so just keep that in mind.” She chuckled lightly as she shrugged her shoulders. “But I like candy and chocolate… and I’ll make sure to bring a broom too because Saphron will probably kill you if you really do bring out the streamers and confetti.” She nodded her head as she smiled at him. “I can’t wait for Saturday.”
