Can't Stand Still (OPEN)

[Ebonie Hazle]

Ebonie hadn't left the Big House for three days. There was nothing worse than living in that place all alone. She had heard rumors of a cave that a previous oracle had used, maybe she could take a look at it? So far, no one had told her where it was. She had also only met two people so far so that didn't help very much. She decided to relieve her boredom and cultivate her curiosity by exploring the cabins. She didn't go inside, obviously. But she took her time studying each one from the outside. It fascinated her how each God or Goddess was individually represented. The barbed wire, the owl symbol, the flowers. It was pretty easy to pick out which cabin was which.

Soon she came across a cabin that looked ordinary. Simple, elegant... even poetic in a way. Something you'd expect to see in a simple poem or story. But then the sun hit the cabin directly and Ebonie had to shield her eyes.

Colt tucked his hands inside his jacket pockets as he made his way towards the Apollo cabin. He thought his date with Charlotte the other night was excellent and went to check up on her and see if she was more agreeable to a second date than she was to the first. Never in his entire life did he have to cheat to get a date because a girl was so stubborn. A slight smirk crept onto his face at the memory as he got closer to the Apollo cabin.

However, Charlotte quickly left his mind as he saw another girl standing right in front of the cabin. His smirk got a little wider as he walked up to her. He hadn't seen her around camp before, so he thought this was his time to make an impression.

"You know," he said as he approached the girl, "you really have to wear glasses when you look at the Apollo cabin because it's so bright, but I guess you have to do that anyway when you look into the mirror."

When Ebonie heard someone speak, she whipped to face him with wide eyes. She was still a little on edge with this whole thing. This whole magical people and Greek Gods kids dealio. She raised an eyebrow at him, a rather impressive height got on that eyebrow in fact. Was he... was he hitting on her? Was that normal?

She found herself chuckle nervously, "erh-I'm Ebonie," she said, reaching a hand out to him to offer for a handshake. As she got a good look at him she felt her breath catch a little. He really was a good looking guy but it was a little weird being flirted with nonetheless. She had never experienced anything like it but...

She liked it.

Colt chuckled lightly to himself as he managed to catch the girl off guard. He smiled his easy smile as he looked at her. He definitely didn’t see her around before and there was no way she was a child of Apollo. Maybe Aphrodite? He looked at her and raised an eyebrow as she extended a hand towards him.

“Colt,” he said as he shook it and let the handshake linger a second longer before letting go. “Are you new? Usually I know all the pretty ladies in camp? Do you want me to show you around camp or to your cabin? Aphrodite, right?”

Colt. A nice enough name, easy to remember. She caught the handshake linger longer than the usual amount and she felt her cheeks get warm again. This guy was probably a pro at stuff like this. Probably the child of some love god, which Ebonie totally thought was cheating.

Yup, he said he knew all the pretty ladies in camp. No surprise there. Ebonie raised an eyebrow in surprise when he suggested she was from Aphrodite. She shook her head, "no, no. I'm not-erh-" was she allowed to tell people what she was? She had to be, otherwise they would have just locked her in a room. She smiled, "I'm actually not a Demi-God. I'm-erh-mortal. A tour would be nice." Subject change?

This girl was cute. That was something that always passed through Colt's mind, but there was something different about Ebonie. He couldn't quite put his finger on it. He was pretty sure that it had to be an Aphrodite thing or whatever cabin she came from. He watched her as she seemed to refute the fact that she was an Aphrodite. If Ebonie wasn't from that cabin, then what cabin was she from? His eyebrows raised when she said she wasn't from any cabin and she was actually a mortal. How did she get....

"Oh," he said as he smiled and straightened up. "You're the new oracle? Gods, the rumors do not do you justice with how pretty you are." He chuckled a bit as he offered his arm to her. "But if the new oracle needs a tour of camp, I will be happy to oblige. You ready to go?"

She was a tad disappointed when Colt realized who she was-what she was. But her good mood slipped back in as he went on to say she was pretty again. She chuckled along with him, taking his arm. "Thanks. Most people act like I'm an alien when I say mortal. Well, I've only met a few people but I've gotten some pretty interesting reactions," she said. "Ready when you are, my guide!" she was feeling much better now, having someone to talk to. Even if she was just another girl on a players arm. She really didn't care at the moment. The most important thing was to have a good time, right? Heaven knows she didn't have many of those...

Colt smiled as Ebonie took his arm and it grew a bit wider as she talked. So the new oracle then? At least she was much prettier than their current oracle... some redheaded old lady. Colt knew he would definitely visit the Big House more if that's where Ebonie was staying.

"Well," he said as he straightened up a bit as he chuckled. "I guess the most logical place to start is here." He gently guided her with his arm as he took her through a loop of the cabin. As they passed each one, he made sure to tell her which god or goddess it belonged to. He especially made sure she knew which one was his, just in case he got lucky. He chuckled to himself as they finished their loop of the cabins. "So... where does Miss Oracle want to tour next?"

As they went around the cabins, it was obvious that he wanted his to stand out more than the others. It worked, of course, that an the Apollo cabin. The Oracle was technically part of Apollos court, was she not? Plus, it really knew how to draw the eye what with it being so bright and all. After that little wrap around, Ebonie shrugged. "Do you have a like... a tennis court or something? I mean, I used to play tennis..." she blushed, turning to glance about the camp, "or at least something active. Tired of being all cooped up in the Big House."

"A tennis court?" Colt said as he knitted his eyebrows together. "We don't, but we do have a volleyball one and a basketball one." He almost pulled her towards the basketball so he could show off a bit, but stopped in his tracks. She was cooped up in the Big House constantly? Despite how much he wanted to show her the basketball court he worked so hard in convincing Chiron to build, he decided he should keep her away from the Big House as much as possible.

He turned and walked the other direction before smiling down at Ebonie. "I'll show you the volleyball court. You've probably seen the basketball one by the Big House." He chuckled as he raised and eyebrow. "Who knows, maybe you can convince Chiron to build a tennis court."

She remembered the basketball court, but her eyes lit up at the Volleyball idea "Ooh, yes! Volleyball is fun. It is very strange that you don't have a tennis court around here," she added, following him. "I should try. I mean, Oracles hang around for a while, don't they?" she asked. She already knew the answer to that question. The Oracle would stay in her body as long as she could possibly live, even if she died. It was better to find a new, young Oracle however.

Like her.

She hadn't met the current Oracle yet. No, she was told she had to prepare for that sort of thing.

Colt smirked when he saw Ebonie light up at the idea of going to the volleyball court. Colt rarely ventured there himself, but he could use his wind powers to manipulate the ball a bit to look like he was decent, right? Or would she catch onto him... He knew there was a reason why he was good at basketball and baseball.

He chuckled a bit as he shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know why, but I have a feeling that it might have to do with the Apollo kids. They're kind of dangerous with any projectile, including tennis balls. I don't know why Chiron allows them to play basketball in the first place."

She raised an eyebrow, nodding at his explanation as to the lack of Volleyball. "That... seems like it wouldn't be a god enough reason," she chuckled. She gave a little shrug, turning to face him square on, "what, do they always beat you at Basketball, then? You know, I'm not too bad myself," she said with a little impish grin growing on her face. Yes, it was a challenge. She needed to get her body moving again and not just by doing weird Oracly yoga meditations and things of the like. No, she needed her passion, she needed fresh air, she needed sports.

Colt looked over at he raised his eyebrows at Ebonie before a smirk settled onto his face. She was flirting and challenging him at the same time. He couldn't lie. He found it hot and adorable and it really did turn him on. He stopped for a moment as he turned around and fully faced her. "You're pretty good at basketball?" he said as a playful tone crept into his voice. "Are you sure you want to take me on? I'll warn you, I do beat the Apollo kids, so this isn't going to be some walk in a park." He cocked an eyebrow at her. "Do you want to go right now? I'll even make it a bet. If I win, I get to take you out on a date. If you lose, you go out on a date with me."

Ebonie held her ground as her raised that adorable eyebrow, faced her, and accepted her silent challenge by creating a new one. At the bet, she shook her head and clicked her tongue, "clever... you're on," she agreed but didn't skip a beat before turning on her heal running toward the basketball court. She knew where it was over by the Big House where she spend most of her time. She hadn't really paid much attention to it, honestly, being nervous to join any of them out there and pushing the thought aside. But now that she had a... friend, or whatever, she was ready for the game.

"Keep up, Pretty Boy!" she laughed.
