Taryn was an early riser and always had been. She awoke with the sun and crept out of the barracks, stealth being no issue as her father was the god of thieves. Not that she thought of him as her father. Her mother's husband would always be the one she thought of as her dad, regardless of her mom's adultery. She could be seen as crazy for how scantily she was clad as it was quite chilly out, but the only thing on the girl's mind was running. She was dressed for the occasion, an athletic tank-top paired with track shorts and running shoes. The cool air brought goosebumps to her pale skin as she made her way to the Field of Mars. Sure it was usually used for war games, but the open field was perfect for a long run. Besides, it wasn't as if she was about to run through the streets of New Rome.
A grin spread across her face as she made it to the sea of grass. The girl lowered herself to the ground and stretched, making sure her legs were warmed up. The last thing she wanted was to be stuck with a charlie horse for the rest of the day. Once she was loosened up and already a bit sweaty she got back to her feet, putting her hair up in a ponytail and shoving her earbuds in. It's no fun to run in silence. The music blasted in her ears and she took a deep breath before taking off, long muscular legs carrying her effortlessly. She could go like this for hours. The sun basked the field in a soft orange glow as it rose, her shadow long and elegant. She always seemed to lose track of time when running, going and going no matter how much her chest ached for oxygen.
She ended her run in a somersault, not even slowing down as she rolled onto the floor and splayed out on her back, panting heavily. The cool grass pricked at her skin, sweat mixing with the morning dew. The girl closed her eyes as she took deep breaths to slow her heart beat. She always worked as hard as she could when it came to running. It's not like she could run away from her problems exactly, but she'd sure as hell try. Besides, there's nothing wrong with loving a good run. She was good at almost every sport, but track was her favorite. Team sports weren't exactly her thing, even if she was a bit social butterfly.
