As such she doesn't do well in school and she doesn't like to study much. Her interests lay in photography, martial arts and various other stuff which have nothing to do with books and brainiac stuff. There is also anothe word to describe Atalanta: Warrior. Atalanta is not afraid to get into a fight, or even start one, if her loved ones or people who have no means of defending themselves are being threatened or being picked on. Short tempered and rash, she likes to challenge her own limits everyday and she focuses on that rather than getting into mindless fights. But that doesn't mean she will try to be the better person. If challenged or questioned about her abilities, she will start a fight and beat someone to a bloody pulp if she has to prove her point. A sore loser, she will have a short, angry fit before proceeding to judge her mistakes and train to correct them. That's something she was taught from her mother, who was the one to turn this angry warrior girl from a selfish bully to a protector of friends and people less strong than herself. The stories she brought back home to Atalanta from the various war-zones contributed to that. Fighting was good if you believed in something worth fighting for and Atalanta has taken that to heart. She is a fighter, she knows this, but she also understands that to simply cause pain is not the way to go about it. But if you see past the warrior, Atalanta is an independent girl who loves to have fun, try new things and hang around with friends, play video games, go to the movies and generally be an active teen. She wants to take the world head on, confident in her ability to overcome whatever life throws at her. Just don't try to put her in a dress or interrupt her parkour/music sessions, those are times she will lash out to defend herself in the former or because she is annoyed in the latter. godly parent-- Ares / Greek family-- Sophia Nikolaou, war correspondent, deceased pets-- Lycaon, german shepherd (black pup) hometown-- New York history-- Sophia Nikolaou was a brilliant war correspondent, bringing up the best reports from the most dangerous war zones. That was until Atalanta was born. She was the result of a romance between her mother and a Navy Seal officer stationed in Syria. Due to her pregnancy, Sophia had to withdraw from the action and she never heard from Atalanta's father again. Slowly it became apparent that Atalanta had inherited her father's warrior nature and she often got into fights, something her mother worried about a lot. She tried and managed to sucessfully direct Atalanta's fighting attitude towards self-defense with Shotokan lessons and protecting those who were unable to fight for themselves. Needless to say there was no open bullying in her Primary school after that. Unless it was Atalanta pulverizing the bullies. When Atalanta started Middle School, her mother decided she could return to action once more. She began taking trips abroad, small and less dangerous at first, then longer periods until she was back in full action by the time Atalanta was in Highschool. All the while, Atalanta was passing her Shotokan belt exams like a breeze and had also taken a liking to parkour and survivalism. She wasn't sure exactly what she wanted to do in life, but she knew it had to do with the army or with a lot of danger and adreline. She was thinking of becoming a war correspondent, like her mother. Thus she got a camera for her 15th birthday and lots of tips from her mother. Life was great until the news came in. Her mother and her crew were killed in a bombing somewhere in the Middle East. A seventeen year old Atalanta found herself packing up to leave with the Social Service's Workers, only to see that the people coming to pick her up where not people at all. They were Cyclopes! That was not the first time Atalanta had seen strange things and she had dismissed the sightings as tricks of the light or her mind playing games on her. But the week before she had been forced to run away from a black hound the size of a car with molden red eyes. So seeing a pair of Cyclopes coming at her doorstep was an immediate cause for alarm. Being a survivalist, she had immediately grabbed her bug-out bag - and her recently adopted puppy - and had made a run for it. After she found refuge in Central Park, she returned at her appartment that night, busted in after the police had left and grabbed a few personal items she found herself unwilling to leave behind, such as a hard drive with her mother's pictures. That's how she spent an entire month on the run from the police, the Social Service and fighting monsters which seemed to be drawn to her for some reason she could not understand. And those monsters could not be killed, even if she had stabbed them with her hunting knife. The weapon had slashed right through them as if it had encountered nothing but thin air. She had grown desperate when a satyr had found her cornered in Central Park by the Minotaur. The only thing which convinced Atalanta to follow the satyr, was the fact he had actually managed to injure the Minotaur and had helped her escape. The promise of safety, a warm meal and a bed, as well as the chance to get answers were also key factors to her coming to Camp. Rp Sample-- She was angry, she was cornered and for the first time in her life she wasn't unwilling to admit that she was scared. And why wouldn't she be? She was cornered and the angry bull-guy she remembered from her Mythology lessons at Greek School was the one blocking her way to freedom. Atalanta could deal with the monster in front of her being real. What did scare the life out of her was the fact she could not fight it effectively. She couldn't kill or maim it. She could only punch it and that was not going to work on the Minotaur. And she would've been fine with just kicking it in the groin and making a run for it, if that wasn't what she had been doing for the past month! Running away from monsters because she couldn't defeat them. She had had some very close calls the past weeks, but it seemed like this was it now. She had tried to make a break to freedom one too many times. Her last attempt had her collide with the fist of the monster and she had been knocked on the wall with such force that her lungs begged for air and black spots danced across her vision. She could hear the whimper of Lycaon next to her as she was sprawled on the ground. The black puppy was also scared and was seeking her comfort, yet she had none to give. First her mother had died and then the people coming to take her in were monsters trying to kill and eat her. It was about time she had reached her breaking point. She was tired of fighting and she was tired of running. So she simply laid there, hoping that the whimpering pup will be okay without her. She closed her eyes as she felt the ground vibrate underneath her as the Minotaur stomped over to her. She guessed she was going to see her mom again after all this was over. Their separation did not last as long as she thought it would. She had no idea she was going to be proved wrong or that she was going to get plunged into a whole new world. One she had no idea existed right under her nose. name; Day time zone; GMT +2 |
