What in the (under)world was he doing at the beach? He never did like water. It wasn't a fear of it, it was rather a fear of what Poseidon may do to him should he be caught in his domain. IT was almost the say with the sky and Zeus. He liked to stay on, or under, the ground which was his father's domain. Besides that he never came to the beach because he never had anything to do there. You see he didn't tan...no, not that he didn't go to get tanned but that he wasn't physically able to tan. He had tried several times when he was younger to try an give himself a tan. Even in his best attempts he didn't even manage a slight variation in color or even sunburn. His skin remained pale, perhaps it was the curse of being a child of the underworld.
So....he was at the beach and wearing a swimsuit, a black swimsuit (he had to keep some of his dignity). Anna his half-sister had suggested the ordeal to better get to know the campers he hadn't met before he left four years ago to work for his father. He found a free spot next to a girl in a green suit and he rdog and set up. He then laid down and closed his eyes with a sigh.

Accalia heard a sigh next to her, Frederick must have noticed too because the dog swiftly turned to face a boy who had lied next to him. Frederick began to inch foward, "Freddy!" Accalia called, tapping him lightly on the nose with one arm while using the other to sit up. "Leave the guy alone, he won't hurt you." One of Accalias flaws/best qualities was that she trusted people upon meeting them. She didn't know this very, very pale boy but there was no deed to frighten him. She gave him a bright smile, but noticed very quickly that his eyes were closed. Maybe he didn't want anyone to talk to him. She thought for a moment before turning to face the water.

He had just closed his eyes when a smell surprised him, the smell of a dog. He opened one of his eyes to see a dog that was starting to paw its way towards him. The girl he had laid down next to, the god's owner presumably, called him off. He inspected the girl before she looked at him. Something seemed familiar about her. Perhaps it was whoever her Olympian parent was....judging by the white flowers in her hair he would take a guess that it was Demeter. He closed his eyes and envisioned Persephone, the only other daughter of Demeter he knew. He overlapped their tow faces and did notice some similarities. "Oh, I wouldn't be too sure about that." he would say moments later after opening his eye again.

Accalia squeeled and jumped, "What!?" She said, shocked. When she turned her head and realized it was just the kid next to them that had spoken her heart began to slow back to a normal pace. "Do you normally say strange things like that? You must be a Hermes kid if you like playing jokes." There was no WAY this guy was a Hermes kid. With that hair, those eyes, and that skin? It was almost unfathomable, but anything could happen. When Accalia jumped Frederick had got on all fours quickly, but he laid back down just as her nerves started to settle. The two had an unspoken connection.

A light smile played on his lips as he saw her reaction. Call it regressing to a younger state but sometimes he enjoyed scarring girls with harmless jokes. He sat up noticing that her dog had also jumped up. The realized that the dog and its owner shared a connection formed by no short amount of time together. he mad a slight *hmph* sound the could be interpreted as a laugh when she called him a Hermes kid. "No. My father is not Hermes God of Travel. My father tends to stay put in a certain area. And has a rather.....grounded , if dark, personality."

Accalia nodded slowly. The boy was being oddly evasive, yet he looked amused. Grounded...if dark? Dark. Accalia leaned closer to him, staring into his eyes. "Hades. Does that make us awkward cousins?" Accalia chuckled a little at her joke, then realized he may not get it unless he knew who she was. "Demeter. That's where i'm from." Accalia said happily. She reached over to pat Frederick on the head but kept her eyes on her new acquaintance. His eyes had a way of making you stick to him. She wondered if he was aware of this ability. Also, he looked older than most of the campers. So many curious questions filled Accalias mind as it usually did when she met a new person.

Well at least she got it right on the second guess. He leaned in closer to her and reciprocated her laugh. "Ah," he said, "I guessed you were a daughter of Demeter." He pointed at the flowers in her hair " Those flowers tend to give it away just a little bit. Not to mention to have a slight resemblance to Persephone if a bit less gloomy." She pat her dog on the head but her eyes stayed focused on him. Did he have something on his face? He smiled, thinking about her joke. "As for us being cousins I don't think it works that way. I think the gods don't have DNA like mortals do. Otherwise all the Demigods would be related somehow and that would make things....complicated."

As he leaned in closer Frederick jumped up again and got closer as well, then sat back down right next to Accalia, just to stay close. "The flowers are a signature of my mothers side, that's true." She shrugged and reached up to touch one of the petals lightly with her fingergtip, "And thank you for saying i'm not gloomy," Her thanks was genuine. She was proud of the fact that she was an upbeat girl. She laughed at his assessment of the DNA, "Well, i'm very glad that things aren't complicated. It would make it very hard for the Aphro kids to torture people." She said, smirking with a slight hint of deviousness.

His leaning forwards was broken momentarily when the dog jumped u towards him. Call it battle reflexes but his head jumped back slightly to avoid the dog. Its not that the dog was dangerous but for the past couple yeas the only dogs he had seen were hellhounds and when the jumped up they tended to want to bite your face up. He returned her smile wit ha hint of understanding. "It would make dating one another quite," he paused looking for the right word, "risqué I suppose." His eyes turned away from hers and he looked down at her dog. So far its owner had been receiving most of the attention but now perhaps it was puppy time. Inclining his head towards her and raising his hand he would ask, "Is it okay if I were to pet him?"

Accalia patted Frederick on the head, make sure he got attention for protecting her. Dogs needed attention. She tilted her head to the side inquisitively, "That's true... definitely quite scandalous..." she said slowly. What he was saying was true. Technically they all could be awkwardly related which would make every crush she'd ever had super awkward. And risque'. Then the boy turned to Frederick, and inquired about petting him. She looked at Frederick and smiled, then back at him. "Sure. You can do that, he might like you more that way but let him smell your hand first."

He reached out his hand letting the dog smell it first like the Demeter girl ahad suggested. The dog sniffed his outstretched hand one or twice and then licked it. Taking it as a sign that he was ok (or at least didn't smell of brimstone) he proceeded the pat the dog on the head. He was a dog so Nezuel assumed that he liked to be scratched behind the ears. He took his hand and began doing so earning a large couple of tail wags from the dog. He smiled and looked up at the girl while continuing to scratch and play with the dog. "I haven't introduced myself have I? I'm Nezuel, Nezuel De Angelo. Its a pleasure to meet you."

Accalia nodded, "Nice to meet you, I'm Accalia. Phillips. Accalia Phillips." She said, "I can see that my dog likes you Nazuel." She patted Fredericks back as he continued to, and happily so, receive attention from Nazuel. He would make little happy breath noises as the boy continued to pat him. "So... have you been at camp for a while? I'm sorry I... I don't think we've ever met before. Or think i've really seen you around." She really did feel bad, she hated not knowing everyone. At least a little. At least their names.

Accalia Phillips, It was great that he now had a name to go with the face of the short haired Demeter girl. He moved his hand around the dog's head eventually finding his way under his chin. His scratching mad the dog lean forward just a little bit. "And whats this guys name? Did you call him Freddy before?" He stopped scratching for a second thinking of a way to best answer her question. he only continued when the dog pushed his hand making it clear that he wanted him to continue. "Well I suppose it depends on how long you've been at camp. I've been gone for about four years working for my father."

She nodded, "I call him Freddy, Fred, Fredders. Whatever I feel in the moment but his name is Frederick. He'd probably prefer you call him that until you get to know him better, although," she chuckled, noticing her dog lean into Nezuels hand, "Seems like you get along alright so far now that he knows you aren't a threat. Yet" She snickered slightly. The boy didn't seem too dangerous, but she didn't know much about children of Hades. Just that their dad was a bit crazy. "Oh!" Accalia exclaimed, "That must have been.... really eery." She said in a truthful tone. She couldn't imagine four years with Hades been too exciting. Except maybe lots of interesting conversations with people from the past. Then a thought hit her, maybe Nezuel had seen her father. Maybe he would know if her father was still alive. She tried not to show the thought process in her mind, "I've been here three years. Just missed you I guess." She replied.

"Yes rather unfortunate that we didn't meet before I let. I can tell that if we had we would've have been friends." He held up his spare hand and shook it, "not to say we still can't be." He smiled sadly at her comment about her father. It was a slightly sore subject for him. Most other Demigods or even mortals viewed him as an crazy or evil soul. It was in part that he ruled the underworld and in part of the modern religions that replaced the worship of the Olympian gods.
People feared death, feared Hades because they thought that he would punish them. In reality the underworld was not a place of torture but quite literally an after-life. Those that did good in their lives would end up in Elysium and those that displeased the gods in The Fields of Punishment. Those that simply died un-notewort deaths were sent to The Fields of Asphodel which was not a punishment, just standing. Eventually in time you would forget even your old life and would enter an almost sleep like trance.
But such a fate was not for the children of Hades. When they died the The Fields of Asphodel was almost a punishment. For they didn't forget their memories and are cursed to remember. Their only goal would be Elysium. "Perhaps," he replied after a while "but not as much as you think. Most people don't like Hades but hes not actually a bad guy. He may act grim but hes really just a big softy." Underneath him the ground started to rumble, as if it was about to drag him down to the underworld. He waved it off and smiled at Accalia.
