((PAST))
The water crashed below her, and despite its beauty, all she could feel was dread. Something bad was going to happen, and she knew it. The wind picked up, causing her simple blue dress to float around her, along with her pale blonde hair. Her eyes stared straight out to the sea, the feeling still lingering in the back of her mind. She heard voices in the distance, and she turned her head slowly.
A head of blonde hair came into her view, and when she saw the face, the picture changed. All she could see was water. Dark, deadly water, along with hands clawing to the surface. Her eyes rolled back into her head as she fell, hair splaying around her face. Cursed. That's what she was. Some would call it a gift, but she knew the truth. She saw them die, she saw how they died, all she saw was death. And Oracle, they called her, but not the Oracle. So she was cast out, forced to live away from civilization. Sparta was not as it used to be..

Try visiting the Oracle my young friend. Perhaps she could have the answer to finding the minotaur who killed your mother.
The steps up the mountain was not an Arduous task. In fact it was quite the opposite. It was rather easy without his shield at the time but he learned to go everywhere with his sword. There was no way in Hades he would leave it home. It was always at his belt, the sun glinting off the blueish green gem in the hilt. A sharpened knife nestled into a sheath in his lower back. At night he placed it at his side so he could get to it with extreme ease. Many people had spoken about him, his blade, how he fought, and who he was. It was natural for a demigod to earn the graciousness of the leader and even a home if the leader liked them but more than often it was out of fear. Rayne could see this. He was not blind.
Though he basically had to be. At the time it was normally custom for a man to shield his eyes from the oracle. She was the chosen one of Apollo. So as he neared the top of the Oracles home he took his hand off his sword and raised a piece of cloth to his eyes, tying it tight enough so it wouldn't fall. He could see through it enough to safely know where he was going but not enough to lay his eyes on her. He had spoken to his brother about the Oracle before and how they might be the only two in the city who could actually look upon her because of their status too but Rayne would gladly follow the rules if he got to find the minotaur who murdered his mother. The spartan neared the entrance and was almost instantly allowed inside by the guards when they realized who he was. "μαντείο." Oracle. He nodded his head politely. The Spartan could make out the figure of the woman shielded from his eyes and a feeling of want rose inside him. "Έρχομαι με την ελπίδα των απαντήσεων." I come in home of answers.

She beat him to the mountain top once she had regained herself. The feeling of dread refused to leave her. And the guards opening the door did not make things better. He walked in, and she gasped loudly as the vision returned to her. "Δεν βλέπω τι ζητάτε." "I do not see what you seek." Her voice was slightly dreamy as she tried to fight through the vision. "Νερό. Το μόνο που βλέπω είναι το νερό" "Water. All I see is water." "Θα είναι το τέλος σας, πολεμιστής" "It will be your end, Warrior." Another gasp left her as she was dragged into the vision. Her eyes rolled back once more, and she could feel the water filling her lungs. She clutched at the marble bench under her, only to fall back, her world going black.
She did not choose this, did not want this. Why had Apollo cursed her, so? Why had her mother allow it? Antheia was gracious and kind, but her daughter was looked over while Apollo thrust his cruelty upon her.

I do not see what you seek. A lie? Did she really think he was that foolish? She seemed to correct herself though as she finally spoke her what lay behind her eyes. Gods the luck of this woman. To be the one chosen to see the future was an enormous gift. Her words confused him though. What in the bloody hell did water have to do with this? He did not move though, standing as still and as firm as a statue until she gave him the answer he wanted. She could not hide it from him. It would escape her whether she liked it or not. Then she said something that confused him more. Water would be his end? How? He could swim, and well. Yet he was to die to water?
What had Rayne done to piss off Thanatos to such a pathetic death? He was indeed a warrior so he deserved a warriors death on the field and his body to be burned in honor of his memory. What in the Hades was this bullshi- His thought process was interrupted as the Oracle took upon a vision and he was across the room in a second, catching her before she hit the ground. There was no way to talk to her in the midst of this. With his other arm at the back of her knees he lifted her into the air and carried her over to the mass of pillows and blankets that had been arranged just for her. The Spartan set her down carefully and picked up one of the apples on a tray before moving to the edge of the mountain that she had come from. The view was better than his! This was outrageous...No he had to keep calm about this. The chosen of Apollo deserved it. The sea was beautiful, enchanting even but all he could do was hate it. Suddenly an idea appeared to him. He glanced back at the Oracle through the cloth. Did he dare see what she really looked like? The Spartan paused there for a couple seconds just debating with himself before he told himself no and turned back to the view. "Ένα θλιβερό θάνατο." A pathetic death. At least Jaime would be there to bury him properly, even though Rayne deserved a monument for all he had done for Sparta. Finally the Spartan raised his head to the sky and spoke in greek. "Γιατί αυτή κρύβεται από όλους;" Why is she hidden from everyone? He wanted to ask Apollo directly.

The guards were on the move in a second, but Rayne beat them to their Lady. When she was laid down her head rolled to the side, her hair fanning over her face. She came to just in time to hear him speak to herself. Apparently good hearing also came with being an Oracle. Slowly, she stood, pushing aside the thin curtain, the only thing that separated her from the mountain. "Δεν θα σας απαντήσω, πολεμιστής" "He will not answer you, Warrior." "Οι Θεοί ήταν σιωπηλοί ..." "The Gods have been silent...". Her voice was back to normal, her light and airy tone.
The breeze caused her hair and dress to move once more before she reached out a hand, placing it on the boys shoulder. "Αν είναι επιθυμία σας, μπορείτε να κοιτάξετε." "If it is your wish, you may look." She hated that stupid rule. Why weren't they allowed to look at her? She was a human, just like they were. Without another word, she turned and walked back into her shelter. The guards surrounded her, making sure she was alright. They were allowed to look upon her, so why wasn't this boy allowed? The rules were foolish, and it was about time they were changed. These people that called upon her...They should know what pain she was put through every time they asked for one of her visions.
Of course, she had to think of visions. Another one hit her like a brick, sending her back onto the floor. Couldn't she stay on her feet for one blasted minute?! What she saw, though, made her cower on the floor in fear. There was a great darkness surrounding this boy... She could not bring herself to say the words. She'd play it off as if it was the same vision. She was worried though. She had seen him, suffering and beaten and...The Dark Goddess herself. What Nyx would want with this boy, though, she did not know.

The Spartans glare pierced the heavens as he tried to get an answer to his question. Though none came, her voice confirming to him that no answer would. Damn the gods. He turned back to her, his face a mask full of confusion. That was strange. "Γιατί οι θεοί δεν απαντήσει;" Why do the gods not answer? Her voice was more calm now which told him she was doing a little bit better. Her next few words gave him a weary feeling though. If he wanted to he could look at her? He was unsure if he did want to look at her. He knew he was curious as to what she looked like but he was unsure if he wanted the answer.
If she was beautiful she would pull the attention of his mind away from him almost forever. If she was he doubted he would want to leave the room for quite a while. Should he looK? He continued to debate with himself on the question even until she collapsed again. Even with the guards surrounding her he was almost instantly there, two of the guards flung to the side because they had been in his path. The stray bits of leather from his armor whipping behind him as he moved. Once again he set her down carefully his eyes still shielded. Once she was carefully set down he moved back to the edge, pushing the thin curtain aside as he walked.
Give me an answer...What am I supposed to do? The thought passed quietly through his head as the wind whistled by. He heard the quiet swearing of the guards behind him and he ignored it pulling out a couple drachmas from his pocket. Taking a deep breath he stepped forward, his feet walking across the air until he was certain that he was far enough out. Once he was he dropped the drachmas in offering, hoping that the god would except it. He paused out there, hearing the gasp of a guard and ignoring it, slowly eating the apple he had picked up earlier. After a couple seconds he turned around and walked back, the wind still moving the loose binding of his armor and cape while he walked back. His feet firmly hit the ground and he tossed the eaten apple behind him, off the cliff. He did want to look upon her, he just couldn't decide for himself.

Trell's lips pulled up into a soft, sad smile. "Δεν ξέρω, πολεμιστής. Ακόμα και τη μητέρα μου, ο οποίος είναι συνήθως φωνητικά, έχει πάει σιωπά ..." "I do not know, Warrior. Even my own mother, who is usually vocal, as gone silent..." That was all she gave away until the attack. In less than a second his arms were around her again, and she felt safe. The feeling shocked her. She could see the confusion on his face, even if she could not see his eyes. So, he would make his choice for him.
She reached forward, behind his head, and tugged at the blindfold. "Κοιτάξτε επάνω μου, ο γιος του Δία. Δεν χρειάζεται να φοβάμαι." "Look upon me, son of Zeus. You need not fear me." Yes, she knew who he was. Of course she knew who he was. All she wanted was to see his eyes. The eyes were the window to the soul, people said, so she wondered if she could see anything else in his. She was curious, to say the least.

Her words before the attack of her vision had confused him. Her mother was silent too? Wait...Did that mean her mother was a goddess? So he was in the presence of another demigod? Well that was interesting. Once she was in another vision there he was. It was getting kind of ridiculous. Eventually she did come back up, but he didn't notice when she did. He was distracted again. How come she had all these servants and all this food? It was kind of ridiculous. She took him by surprise with what she did next. He wasn't expecting and apparently neither were the guards. More specifically one guard.
The blindfold fell from his eyes and he slowly turned to face her, his eyes falling to her body as he looked upon her. She was indeed beautiful and now he did wish to leave this room. In fact he felt determined to find out more about this Oracle. He wait to look her in the eyes though, until he was certain he had taken the memory permanently into his mind. Once he had his eyes slowly rose up her until he met her eyes. Now he wished he had taken the blindfold off sooner. The moment may have only lasted a couple seconds as he stared back into her eyes but it felt longer.
Then suddenly his attention was pulled away from him by pure instinct. One of the guards had drawn his weapon and was now moving rapidly towards him. No...Not him. The Oracle. Rayne didn't even bother taking the assassin serious. He flicked his hand and watched ignorantly as the wind roughly slammed the fake Spartan again one of the walls. Penalty meant death. Not in here though. Rayne used the wind to hold him there as much as he could. He didn't have much control over the wind so the assassin managed to push against it after a bit. Finally the guards began to react. Before anyone got hurt, lightning flew from Rayne's hand and struck the sword of the assassin, forcing him to surrender. "Δοκιμάστε το υπόλοιπο αυτής της διατÏοφής, μποÏείτε ανόητοι. Έχει εδώ πάÏα Ï€Î¿Î»Ï ÎºÎ±Î¹ÏÏŒ για κάποιο από αυτό να είναι αξιόπιστες." Test the rest of this food, you fools. He has been here too long for any of this to be trusted.

He was beautiful. That was the only way to put it. Her strange violet eyes widened as she stared at him. The feeling of dread returned in an instant, but she could not stop staring at him. It was his eyes, though, that pulled her in. A flash in her head showed this very boy, in a time not their own, holding her on a beach under the moonlight. She snapped out of her trance just in time to see the guard moving forward. She was shocked, to say the least. Cor had been so good to her since he was assigned.
When Rayne held his hand out, she covered her mouth with one of her, shock still going through her. Why? Why her? It wasn't as if she asked for this! Her free hand clenched into a fist as she stood. She listened to Rayne bark the order, and had to stop herself from smiling. He was protecting her... "Προδοσία σας είναι το τέλος σας. Τιμωρία σας είναι ο θάνατος." "Your betrayal is your end. Your punishment is death." In almost the blink of an eye, she pulled a dagger from behind her back, throwing it with great skill into his chest, just missing his heart.
She looked to her other guards, giving them a nod. They did not know what to think of the Spartan standing before them, protecting their Lady. She could not help but stare at his back. She reached out a hand and placed it on his shoulder. "Είναι πάνω, πολεμιστής" "It is over, Warrior." She whispered to him as she watched the guards take away the trays of food. Part of her wished they would bring her no more. This was no life. This was torment. Why had her mother allowed this? She just wanted to go away, to leave this place and this life. She wanted to be in the place she saw in her vision. The clear sky and blue waters, her protector holding her. She blushed as the image went through her head again, and she removed her hand from his shoulder, staring at the ground.

He was slightly annoyed that someone had the guts to try this. That they would try this on the oracle seemed rather ridiculous. Why were they trying to kill her? Something she might predict maybe? He was going to have to talk to some of the Spartans and get more guards up here. If there was one attempt on her life then there was bound to be more. Perhaps an upcoming war and the enemy didn't want Sparta to know about their first attack. He was going to have to talk the to leader then too.
What the Oracle did next surprised him though. He wasn't expecting her to even have a dagger. She even knew how to use it. He stood there stunned as she pulled it out and swiftly threw it into the back of the Traitor. He stood there watching as the guards carried the dying man from the room and his gaze stayed hardened at the back of the mans head. He barely noticed as other guards carried the trays of food from the room and his attention was pulled away as her hand touched his shoulder. Her words hit his ears but he didn't feel like they were true.
"ΦÎÏτε το στιλÎτο πίσω." Bring the dagger back. It was never over. But he would accept the offer to calm down for now. Rayne turned around and looked the Oracle up and down. She was very beautiful. He watched as her head lowered to stare at the ground, trying to hide her blush and her hand left his shoulder. Without hesitation he caught her hand before it could move back to her. With a small tug on her hand, he pulled her closer until she was up against him so he could wrap his other arm around her and hold her closely. Now letting go of her hand he lifted her chin so he could meet her eyes again. They were such a strange color. He didn't move closer for a kiss though. He just waited testing to see if she wanted to continue this or stop it all.

She was shocked, to say the least, when he asked for her dagger back. She was a bit ashamed. She wasn't supposed to have weapons at all, wasn't supposed to know how to use them. But what else was she to do while trapped up on this mountain for all of her days? It only made sense that she learned how to protect herself. One of the guards returned with the dagger, and she smiled at the Amethyst inlaid in the handle before she slipped it back into her hidden sheath.
His next move surprised her, but she welcomed it. She stared up into his beautiful eyes as he looked down on her. "Μπορείτε προορίζονται για το μεγαλείο, πολεμιστής." "You are destined for greatness, Warrior." She whispered the words as her hand slowly moved to his arm. She held him there for a moment before her fingers started moving on his muscles. He was just...So beautiful to her. Another vision went through her head and she had to smile, this time. She saw them clearly, this time, lying in a bed, holding each other. It was clear what they had been doing, and it gave her hope to have a normal future.
A guard turned around and spoke quickly. "Τώρα δεν είναι η ώρα, ούτε ο τόπος, πολεμιστής. Θα συναντηθούμε και πάλι, σε μια άλλη εποχή." "This is not the time, nor the place, Warrior. We will meet again in another time." She gave him a small smile before she ran her fingers down his cheek. "Πήγαινε, τώρα ο γιος του Δία. Ορκίζομαι να σας, αυτό δεν θα είναι η τελευταία φορά που με βλέπετε." "Go now, son of Zeus. I swear to you, this will not be the last time you see me.". She stepped away from him slowly as the guards moved to usher him out. Another patron was seeking her guidance, and as long as she was there on that mountain, she would do her job.

Rayne didn't care if she owned a weapon. Sure it was sort of unorthodox but he was certain it wouldn't matter too much. She was the oracle, and a demigod. If he could look over a small knife he was certain that the 'king' could do too. He stood there waiting, making sure to stare the guard in the eyes until the dagger was placed back into her hands. Unfortunately his move on her was refused. Politely, of course. But still refused. To be expected he should have guessed. It wasn't the first time he had gotten turned down because of who he was. A son of the king of gods?
Though the Spartan didn't know that she had refused it for another reason. He was able to tell when she turned him down the second she started talking. There was always something in a persons voice. Destined for greatness...? Great...More cryptic messages. Weren't all demigods destined for greatness? Then came even more cryptic messages from her and he wasn't liking that at all. He didn't get a single chance to say anything about it though.
Not the time nor the place? So wait? Wha- When wou-...Too many questions. It would not be the last time he would see her? He didn't like relying on the advice of Apollos visions. What reason would he have for coming back up to the mountain? Maybe he didn't? Gods, what did she mean? He could only get one question out though before the guards ripped him out of the room. "Πότε;"

She didn't know what the overwhelming feeling of sadness that crept over her meant. All she knew was that something was wrong, and that this would be the last time she saw the Son of Zeus for a long while. Hundreds, maybe thousands of years before that world she saw in her head. Their perfect future. She had been staring at the ground, couldn't stand to watch him walk away, until she heard the guards swords clanking.
Her head snapped up at the sound, giving enough time to see her guards forcing him out of her silk tent, hearing the word tear from his lips. The way they were treating him...Όχι! No!. She gathered the bottom of the loose blue fabric dress so she wouldn't trip and ran to him as fast as her small legs could carry her. She wiggled through her guards, even when they tried to push her away. She struggled until she was able to firmly press her lips against his, visions flashing through her head of doing the action a hundred times over in their perfect future.
She was sobbing as the guards finally flung her away. σύντομα. Soon.. She called out to him as they pulled him out of the tent. She tried to control herself as she took small steps back to her podium, slumping down onto the marble. She didn't even notice one of the guards coming back to her. He was speaking slowly, to give her comfort, but nothing would comfort her heart. He suggested air, and she nodded slowly, standing to follow him. She knew the son of Zeus would try to return to the mountain to see her, if not again today, sometime soon, but she knew she would not be there.
She knew as soon as she felt the point of the sword at her back. Κάν 'το γρήγορα. Do it quickly.... She was prepared, now, to die with the kiss still on her lips. She didn't even feel the pain as he removed the dagger from her hidden sheath at her back, plunging it between her shoulder blades. She only felt the tears as he pushed her over the mountain into the cashing waves below.
