WHAT'S MY OFFENCE
THIS TIME
HOMETOWN: small town in Northern Indiana
HISTORY: Harper grew up knowing that her biological mother died during childbirth and that her father remarried when she was little, but that doesn’t stop her from calling Sandra “Mom”. She grew up on a farm in Northern Indiana with her three little half siblings (Aiden, Martin, and Tiffany) and a bunch of attractive farmhands. All of the Jones children are homeschooled, but Harper got sent to public school at 10 once Sandra noticed that the farmhands were becoming a distraction.
The summer before she turned 13, Curt hired a farmhand Harper’s age, Jethro, and her life would never be the same again. Jethro always wore a gaudy old baseball cap, had an odd bounce to his step and kept an odd-colored cattle prod with him at all times. Harper spent that summer getting close to him. The night she was convinced she would get kissed; there was strange activity in the cow pasture. Harper thought that one of the bulls was going mad, but Jethro said otherwise: Minotaur attack. She wasn’t sure what kept her alive for so long, but when Jethro tossed her the cattle prod, she did the only thing she knew to do to with bad cows, she prodded it. The Minotaur exploded into dust and Jethro grabbed her hand and said that they needed to talk to her dad. Despite the late hour, Curt was alert and calm as he and Jethro had a quick exchange about it being time to go to some camp. Curt handed Harper an already packed bag and his last words to her were “Promise me not to do anything too rash.”
After she promised, she and Jethro disappeared into the night. Jethro explained to Harper that she was a demigod and the Minotaur was one of many monsters that seek out and destroy people like her. When she didn’t believe him, he took off his pants to reveal a pair of goat legs. Harper nearly fainted, but pressed on to camp she overheard.
They arrived to camp bruised and tired from the journey and fighting the variety of monsters on the way. As soon as Harper crossed the Camp Half Blood barrier into the arms of the welcoming committee, she was claimed as a daughter of Demeter, despite Jethro preparing her to be claimed on her 13th birthday. She settled in and made quite a few friends, some of them being attractive boys, but Jethro became her best friend.
During her two and a half years at camp, Harper got the opportunity to meet with her mother, the divine one, twice, and they both ended horribly. The first time was during the winter, where all Demeter did was bemoan about Persephone. The second time was during Harper’s 15th birthday weekend and her birthday fell on the vernal equinox. The day before her birthday was painful, but she got stood up on her actual birthday. When Harper figured out what happened, she ran screaming and crying back to her cabin, swearing she would join the Hunters, but stopped short when she realized she would have to swear off boys. She then threw everything she owned in her backpack, ran away from camp, and started seeking out monsters to release her pent up anger. Jethro tagged along to make sure she kept her dad’s promise.
After two years, a lot of monsters, another appearance by the Minotaur, loosing Jethro, and a lot of begging to Chiron, Harper returned to Camp Half Blood with a lot more baggage than she originally packed.
YOU'RE NOT A JUDGE BUT

ROLE-PLAY SAMPLE:
Harper stood on the porch with her bag slung over her shoulder and a laurel tree in hand looking at the cabin. It felt wrong being here after what happened over two years ago. She glanced over at the Artemis cabin before taking a deep breath and pushing the cabin door open.
It looked like Harper stepped back in time. Nothing about the cabin changed since the last time she stepped foot inside. Her bed sat there waiting for her in the corner with her cage and vase sitting on the dresser.
Pip scurried out of her cargo pocket and perched himself on top of her shoulder.
"Well, Pip," she said to the little white mouse, "I guess we're home."
She tossed her bag onto her bed, placed Pip in his cage and the laurel tree in the vase, and started unpacking.
