Scars (Charlotte)

[Draven Skylstad]

Draven took deep, heaving breaths as the sparring match he had just done finally ended with his win. His eyes drifted down to the weapons in his hands, still not entirely used to using his brother's old sword. The white blade of the sword giving off a faint metallic sheen. He sheathed his weapons and walked over to one of the benches at the edge of the arena, catching a break from the intense workout he just got. The son of Lelantos closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the wall, feeling the pain from the cuts and bruises he had gotten as his adrenaline levels lowered.

After practicing in the range all day Charlotte was just tired and didn't want to do anything. As she started walking out of the arena she saw someone she knew, Draven, leaning up against a wall with his eyes close. She knew him somewhat from her years here at camp and realized they never really talked much, maybe she should change that. She knew she was tired but put on smile and walked over to him and sat down next to him. "Hey Draven, how have you been?" she asked, resting her bow on the ground near them. Draven had always been someone she meant to talk to more but he was never around when she had time to talk, so this worked out perfectly.

"Hi, Charlotte." Draven said as he looked over at the daughter of Apollo. "Better than I was." He admitted as he glanced down at his brother's, no, his sword, knowing it didn't explain much. "What about you? How have you been?" The hunter took another breath as finally got it stabilized. His eyes glanced over her and realized that she had been working out in the arena also. He sat up, putting his hands on his lap while he turned slightly to face her. His right shoulder unconsciously moving away from him and making him wince as a bad cut from the sparring match flared up in pain.

Charlotte had always had a soft spot in her for Draven. She had known his brother, he was one of the only Ares' kids that was nice to her when she first got to came and knew it had been hard for him when he had died on that quest with him. She never knew why or how, but she did know not to bring it up with him. She smiled at him and nodded slightly "That's good then, its always good to be better." She though for a second though, she didn't know how she had been. She hadn't been happy or content, because she just wanted something to fun to happen, but she hasn't had it bad either. "Existing." She said, finally finding a word for herself recently. "the last few months have just gone by in a blur of the same old. Nothing new going on. But that just sounds like im a realistic downer" she said slightly laughing"so I guess I'm okay."

Draven looked over at her, realizing just how much her words described his life about a year ago. Only being able to deal just by existing. A smile appeared on his face as his bear walked into the arena and over to him. "Hey, Niall." He said to the bear cub as the animal climbed up onto the bench in between him and Charlotte. His hand moved to scratch behind the bear's ear. "What are you doing here?" The son of Lelantos asked the baby bear before looking back up at Charlotte.

Needless to say Charlotte was a bit shocked when a bear came up into the arena, walking right towards them. Even more so when it climbed up on the bench and sat next to her. What in hades could be going on. She noticed him scratching in and something rang her ears. His name, he named it niall. She felt her heart kinda drop at that. She noticed him looking at her and smiled, looking back at the bear. "You have a bear. Thats something different." she said with a smile before eyeing him petting the bear then look at at him. "Is it okay if i.. you know, pet him?" she asked.

"Yeah, I have a bear." Draven said with a short laugh. His fingers ran through his hair as he looked down at Niall. "I came across him on my way back to camp after the quest last year. Poachers had killed his mother, and I couldn't leave him alone like that." He told Charlotte as he looked back up at her. "Yeah, you can pet him. He won't mind. Though there was a time where even I couldn't get close to him without being cautious." The son of Lelantos admitted before giving Niall a quick scratch behind the ear.

All charlotte could do was slightly laugh at his comment about how the bear use to act. She smiled and looked up at him with a playful glare "okay but you have to get my hand back if he eats it. He seems so dangerous" she said sarcastically, thought still a bit weary of petting him. It twas just like a bigger version of ray right? Bigger a few more teeth and probably over teething, unlike her own dog. She had lost too many shoes to that dog, she wouldn't loose her hand to a bear.

She started next to his ear, like where draven had been petting him but on the other side, just scratching the small club gently like he was ray. He was really soft which surprised her. She didn't take bears as ones who cared about hygiene and their fur but maybe draven just gave him a bath or something. The thought of him wrestling with a bear to take a breath made her laugh a little. "He is adorable." she said and smiled at the little bear. Well that could be checked off her bucket list.

"Yeah, he is." Draven said as he agreed with Charlotte. "He got a bath today, so he's pretending to be a little bit grumpy." He said with a chuckle as the bear cub looked up at him. "Though he actually loves the water." The son of Lelantos gave Niall a quick scratch on the head, getting an appreciative rumble from the bear. The cub turned to look up at Char and leaned over to nuzzle against her arm. "That's weird. He's been super wary of people up until a few weeks ago. It took me forever to even get him to eat when we first met. He's just barely been able to stop hiding from people. I'm surprised he's liking you so much."

Having a small bear cub cuddling up to her? It was adorable and scary all at once and she loved it. Charlotte smiled lightly at the small animal, continuing to pet him and she listen to Draven "Well, I'm honored then" she said laughing lightly.

Something about her made this bear comfortable? That wasn't really surprising to her, she had always been a big fan of animals and took a liking to most and slowly the idea of this bear hurting her left her head as she pet the animal. She looked up at Draven and smiled wide "Well I don't know if he can cuddle up to me when he is bigger" she said joking around.

"He'll find a way. Even if he has to lay down on top of you and cuddle up with you that way." Draven said with a chuckle before standing up and looking around. "I'm going to go practice my archery. Do you want to come with?" He asked her as he stretched slightly, smirking down at Niall as the bear pressed his head up into Charlotte's hand. "Maybe with an Apollo girl to show for, I can embarrass myself even more than usual." The hunter chuckled as he waited for an answer from her.

Charlotte laughed slightly before looking up at him. "You just offered a Apollo archery, of course I'll come" she said, laughing and looking at the bear before deciding to pick him up, holding him up against her with his head on her shoulder, grabbing her bow with her other hand. "Shall we?" she said, smiling and walking with him. She might had just been just been shooting but still, she never got tired of it, plus she would be teaching and helping him so it wouldn't be too hard plus, she just couldn't bare to part ways with the bear cub just yet.

"You won't be able to do that for much longer." Draven said with a smirk. "He's going to get way too heavy for anyone to pick up in just a few weeks." He grabbed a practice bow and and a quiver of arrows before walking over to the archery range part of the arena. "Tell me if I'm doing anything wrong." The son of Lelantos said as he prepared to take his first shot. He took aim at the target and let loose the first arrow, hitting about halfway between the edge of the target and the bullseye.

If this bear was too heavy Charlotte didn't notice but she shrugged in response to him claiming he was. He would be growing to a full size bear soon. Maybe they could use him around camp, suit him up with some cool Armour and and such. She smiled at the little bear, watching as Draven fired and slowly putting Niall down and walking over to him. "Your Form was good, a little forced though. Just relax and do it comfortably. You look too tense." she said with a nod and looking at her own before grabbing a arrow from her quiver and notching it, breathing out slightly as she raised it and released. It hit just above the the center.

Draven turned to look at Charlotte when she put Niall down and took a shot at the target, nodding at her advice. He felt a pang of jealousy when she managed to hit the target just above the center, but quickly suppressed it. "Okay..." He said to himself under his breath. His eyes focused on the target and took aim with the bow before drawing back the string and taking a deep breath to try and calm himself down. The son of Lelantos waited and took another breath before taking the shot, getting a little closer to the bull's eye.
