In 2030 several people were found dead. They were found bleeding from their eyes, ears and nose. Scientists rushed to find the answer. What they found was that all the dead humans had the same condition. They had an abnormal amount of neural senders. After testing on a few people that had the same condition, it was found out that people with this condition could manipulate certain types of matter and energy. The types of matter were ice, water, granite, and air. The energy types were electrical, light, fire, and magnetism. People could only handle one of these each. Tests that tried to pass this limitation always wound up in death.
After the potential for 'mancers' as these people were called was discovered, governments raced to control this new military might. Mancers were trained to fight, and the world was reshaped. The 'Mancer Wars' changed borders and destroyed countries. Washington D.C. Los Angeles, London, Boston, and several other cities were leveled. The United States conquered most of Canada and Mexico. France, or the newly dubbed United French Legion, took most of Europe and Russia. Japan conquered the rest of Asia. The United States moved the capitol to New York City.
The three new superpowers were afraid of what the unrestrained power of the mancers could do to the world, so they signed the M.E.T. or the Mancer Education Treaty. Under the treaty, several alchemy universities around the world were formed.
The year is now 2052, and the University of the Alchemically Gifted stands as a leader in mancer education and alchemy research. Alchemy schools compete with one other to see who is better and with new sports invented for mancers is safer than ever.
