Could she do it? Well that would be the question wouldn't it. Stealing was a thrill for her but stealing from a goddess? Geez, even she knew she would dig herself a hole for that but the idea twrilling in her head was just too much to resist. Think of all the things she could get from there. Goddess or not she was taking this job, she just needed to know what she was facing. "Teasing involves a more sinister motive behind it, mine is purely innocent."
"Knowing all the pieces in play make a theif." Careless theifs never tought of all the variables. Those are the ones people know, a good theif makes sure that their name will ever appear. They cover all their tracks, make sure they are hidden from everyones view. Like a fox. Like Riley. She could never leave tracks.
"What exactly makes you think I'm going to just give you the answer to those questions?
Riley just smirked widder, looking over at Jamie as she whipped some of the oil on her hands onto her jeans. No tracks. "Because, clearly you can't get it. or else why would you be asking me to do it for you." She said cockily, looking at him, biting his lip like he held some great secret and it was about to. That was a big question but she knew it wouldn't matter. What was this to him? Then again, foxes never asked questions either. "So, are you going to answer or should i just order a new engine?"

Her motive was purely innocent? Jaime didn't believe that. Not for a second. There was no such thing as a purely innocent, be it action or being. He didn't believe it to be possible. He did believe that he motive may not have been as bad as others, but innocent? No. He stood still as she continued, stating about the need to know all of the pieces. He couldn't help but laugh lightly at her comment. It makes a thief? He grinned playfully at her. As playfully as he could manage at the moment. "Then I guess it must be such a shame to know that this is not your chessboard." He stated with an apologetic frown.
Then she started to get cocky, and he lost the frown. She was getting ahead of herself. Normally it might have been fine with him if she wasn't being pushy about it. "Let us assume for a second that I couldn't get it myself." He stepped closer to her and let his eyes go once over to size her up. "Let's also put aside what you said about me naming any price in the world in exchange for a bike fix." He focused in on her blue eyes.
"Instead, let's think about who else in camp needs something fixed up or made for them. Biggest cabin is usually Hermes, right? I'm certainly there are a couple other thieves out there who would gladly go for that gem for me. Or there's Hephaestus. My father. I could always try and make a trade with him to just get it back. I know he could always use help with one thing or another. So if you want, go ahead and order a new engine..." He paused finally and let his gaze soften again. "But...you're right to be curious..." He inhaled deeply and took a step backwards. "It's a family heirloom, a family member gave it away to her in exchange for something stupid and he shouldn't have." He folded his arms in front of his chest. "It's important to me."

Riley didn't care how she got her information, just as long as she got it. He could go for someone else or himself for all she cared, she'd still get a new motor, whether he made it or not. She also had options. Him getting closer didn't make her feel threaten, it made her feel curious. He was clearly tight about it, guess he couldn't deal with cocky people or as she liked to call it, people with higher confidence then you. She was sure of herself alright, because she made it that way. She took every percaution she could think or see coming.
He took a step backwards and she sighed before rolling her eyes, her face going stiff and serious "It's a trade off, We both know our place. I just want to make sure I don't end up a pile of ashes from my end." Now that she had her information thats all she needed. Family heirloom eh? Couldn't be that hard. "Fine last question then if you'll just answer. Do you know where it is?" she asked simply, her excitment long faded. She didn't care about a new engine or anything amount of money. None of that was worth her life in her books. Unlike her siblings she didn't have a deathwish, and stealing from a god was just that. Death was her only true fear she had to face, Riley didn't treat it lightly.
A important family heirloom that she was stealing from one of the oldest goddesses for a new engine? Could Riley be sure it was worth the risk? Then again wasn't that why she loved it.

The edge of this conversation was getting just as sharp as most of the weapons of this camp. He didn't want that. This was something he wanted to remain for as long as he could manage it. So he would have to change it up. With a small sigh, he had backed away from her keeping his expression hardened until she mention getting turned into a pile of ashes, then he focused in on her a bit more and spoke up. "Are you scared? Is that it?" He cocked an eyebrow at her. "I don't have a clue where she put it. I wish I did, otherwise I would go and get it myself."
He paused and turned to look at the engine. His eyes slowly looked over the piece of machinery before he turned back to look at her. "You're right." He admitted guiltily under the serious gaze she had put on. "You're jumping headfirst into a dangerous situation for me. You deserve to know such things." He looked down at her jeans where she had wiped her hands off. "It belonged to my mother." He mumbled under his breath, just loud enough for her to hear him.
"Last thing in the world of hers that is left. Everything else is just...gone..." He exhaled again, his breath coming out shaky as he talked about it. "And my brother gave it away to Aphrodite to try and impress a girl who he didn't even stay with..." He swallowed heavily and roughly stuffed his hands into his pockets. "So you're right..." He sighed softly and looked up from her jeans to stare at her before awkwardly turning so he wasn't necessarily facing her. "It's not that I can't do it...It's that I can't do it..." He balled his hands into fists in his pockets and groaned.
"This makes absolutely no sense." He pulled his right hand out of his pocket to run it through his hair.

Scared? Was Riley scared? Of a all powerful goddess that could blast her to bites or make her fall in love with a rock. Yeah, a little. It wasn't the danger that made her scared, it was the possiblity of death and that was always a fear there. Death was Riley's one big fear and it never left her. The oblivon of afterlife. She was no hero she wouldnt go to Elysium. She gave him a small forced smirk "Always do what you are afraid to do." quoting one of her favorite Transcendentalist.
Of course I'm right, I actually thought it through, Riley thought to herself but thought it better not to and listened to him talk about his mother. Ah of course, emotional bond, doing something for love, the regret, love goddess is queen of all the butts in the world. Riley knew this work well, usuall it was just taking back a ring from a stubern ex but no this was a family heirloom from a olympian. Piece of cake of course. This makes no sense?"
"No the case of july 5th made no sense. What he wanted with that toaster and lube I don't want to know but this is justified. This has emotions and a good story to it." She said reaching out and touching his arm for a moment then pulling her hand back. "I'll reach you in a few days with what I've found so far. Don't expect this to go quickly with the minimal amount of information I have." she said with a quick smile and a wave of her hand before walking away.
