Daphne didn't know what she had gotten herself into, which was a lot of things lately. As soon as she accepted the offer of friendship, Daphne couldn't help but notice how... odd Desdemona was. Her mannerisms, her way of speaking just seemed extremely old fashioned than what was the norm around camp. But something that Desdemona said completely caught the daughter of Zeus off guard. "Really?" she asked as she tried not to let her mouth drop a little. "Thirteen years and no friends? That's... how could you survive like that?"
Anger flowed through Daphne because of how her new friend was treated. Maybe they could've been friends or allies sooner. If Daphne knew of the kind of treatment the camp gave the Nyx child... but Daphne had to shake her head because she gave that exact same treatment up until a little while ago. She took a deep sigh as she smiled softly at her new friend after she got a wink.
"I think the two of us can think up something for... something for..." Daphne swallowed as she couldn't dare force herself to say his name at that moment. "Something for him... make him pay for all he did, you know?"

Realizing she may have let herself share too much, Desdemona smiled serenely and then began to smooth over her skirts in a rhythmic, almost compulsive movement. As the fabric went from one hand to the other, it wrinkled then smoothed itself in a flow then did the same as the hands swapped. It was one of her calming mannerisms she had learnt to ease her troubles - a meditation exercise of sorts. The surprise in Daphne was so thick she could have reached out and touched it with a fingernail. Her black eyes studied the fabric.
"No, no friends," she repeated. "After all, the progeny of Primordials were never originally allowed to settle here until Percy Jackson changed the convention. Traditions die hard here, and linger for a long time. And your father and my mother have a...lets just say, a contentious past. As do your uncles and aunts. And you have to admit, I am certainly not the most normal of residents here at the Camp. I tend to emit an aura that...freaks people out or makes them uneasy."
The soft smile was returned. "I could always steal him from his bed and hang him naked by his neck in front of the Underworld entrance to our mothers domain. I think she'd like that, would Nyx. But Xenos wouldn't. Oh, I could never kill my little brother. But...public humiliation in the Underworld...that is another den of chimeras entirely."

Daphne pressed her lips together as Desdemona said stuff about the Primordials and the Olympians not getting along. "I know..." she muttered as she looked at her shoes. "I know the myths. My mother had them drilled into my head since I was little. You'd think the guys would finally get over something that is centuries old." She shrugged a bit as she looked up at Desdemona and gave her a soft smile. "I guess even gods hold grudges for a long time too."
Daphne let out a soft laugh as she talked about the things they could do to Xenos. "I know a lot of people in this camp would love to make a public spectacle of him. Maybe dress him up as a clown or something just as ridiculous. Let him know how much he hurt us... we already put him on trial for his deeds, but I don't think he's learned from his punishment... it wasn't a good one to start out with."

"Gods are overgrown children sometimes," Desdemona smiled to show she meant no harm by her words. "I mean, surely they can put all that arguing about who started the war and who insulted who aside in order to protect their children. I sometimes wonder if our generation are not a little more mature sometimes. I, myself, would be quite relieved if they gave up their posturing and bickering for a common cause. But I doubt they'll start learning now. Never mind, we must be the mature ones."
Desdemona laughed behind a hand at the thought of Xenos dressed up as a clown. "A clown costume on that boy might be a step too far. I reckon we might give the youngest campers nightmares. Perhaps if we dressed him up as a pink Barbie doll..."

"Overgrown children?" Daphne rolled her eyes with a smirk. "My dad can't keep it in his pants most of the time until they signed that pact... and even then he still can't keep it in his pants. If that doesn't make him an overgrown child or at least a horny teenager, then I don't know what does." She sighed as she shook her head. "That's kind of sad that the children have to be more mature than their parents. I think that's what is driving the Usurpers to do what they're doing."
"A pink Barbie doll?" Daphne laughed as the image formed in her brain. "Wouldn't that be kind of an insult to the Aphrodite cabin? But maybe some sort of doll... I think he would wonderful in a frilly dress, don't you?"

Desdemona nodded slowly. "The Usurpers may have valid points...but they are going about it the wrong way. For a start, by condemning the demigods and Gods to death, they are killing themselves too. They are trying to destroy something that means a lot to a lot of people, forces that control the very world around them. If all the Gods and spirits were destroyed overnight, something much more terrible would take its place. These Usurpers forget the basic laws of entropy and thermodynamics - that if something is removed, something else must take its place. Plus, they are declaring war on their own families. I couldn't countenance something like that, not even if I had all of Nyx inside of me trying to convince me otherwise. To want all your brothers, sisters and parents dead...its above reprehensible."
Her eyes turned vacant for a while, thinking.
"Oh yes, a frilly dress," she came back to reality. "Maybe a black dress, with white petticoats. And photographs to show that it happened."

Daphne slowly nodded her head as agreed with everything that Desdemona said, but she scrunched her eyebrows a bit when there were words said that she didn't understand. "What is entropy and thermodynamics?" she asked as her racked her memory. Her mother never mentioned those words, so she didn't know what they were. She shook her head after a few moments. "Never mind. It doesn't matter."
"Of course there would have to be pictures," Daphne said with a bit of a smirk. "Pics or it didn't happen. We need to post them around camp so everyone knows what we did to him." She laughed a bit as she shook her head. "You might want to throw some color in it too. Maybe some red so the Ares campers attack him. They act like bulls anyway, so they'll probably attack him if he's dressed in red.

Black eyes widened slightly as Daphne asked what the terms meant, wondering why she had never heard of them. They were simple scientific names for natural laws, and it was curious why she didnt know about them. "You do not know what thermodynamics and entropy are?" she queried out loud. "They're scientific concepts, I believe. Entropy is the law that all things must tend towards chaos. And Thermodynamics are...well, they have to do with exchanging energy from one state to another. I read them in a textbook once."
"Yes," she replied to Daphne's comment about pictures. "To be cruel to ones social image or standing is far worse than just drawing blood. The mind makes all sorts of assumptions and leaps. My brother would not like being the laughing stock of camp, not one little bit. Our plan is perfect."
Getting up, she smoothed and dusted off her skirts before she gave Daphne a slight bow. "It was a pleasure making your acquaintance, Daughter of Olympus. I am glad we could have this conversation but I think it is time to go. May we meet again when the photographs of Xenos come out."
