She let a small laugh escape her as she turned her head briefly to smile at the boy. "Well so far, I think just Charlie is pretty cool." She chewed on the inside of her lip before she got back to weaving the yarn around her arms. If she could work like this with the new arm, why in Hades couldn't she swing a damn sword with it? The world made absolutely no sense to her sometimes.
"The company is pretty nice. I-uh-I haven't been around people much lately." She chewed on the inside of her cheek this time. It was becoming a nervous habit of hers since she didn't really want people knowing when she was uncomfortable or shy. "I don't sleep much anymore." She started off before she weaved the last bit together. She continued to speak as she tied off the ends, making sure everything was secure. "I found this to be a good way to distract myself and pass the time while everyone else was asleep." She gave a shrug, acting like it wasn't a big deal. "Seems to be the only thing this damn arm is good for." She gave a bit of a brighter laugh as she lifted up the fake arm. "And, fabulous." She smiled a bit wider as she draped the scarf around his neck, smirking a bit. She would have to tell John whenever she made it back to the cabin. She was actually talking to a person, being nice, and making friends.

Charlie gave a small smile as Mae complimented on his name. He also agreed with his choice of using Charlie. As silly as it sounded, Charlie did go through mental debates when he was little about what version of his name fit him the best. That seemed to fit him now more than anything. He could have reinvented himself at camp and go by a new name, but Charlie just always seemed to fit.
Charlie shrugged again as he watched Mae, not even noticing if she was nervous. He was just mesmerized with how her hands moved as she knitted. When she mentioned about not sleeping, he looked up at her. "Research actually suggest to distract yourself if you can't sleep, but do something that's not too tedious, right? I guess something like this isn't too hard, so it could distract you, but not strain you." He chuckled as Mae finished the scarf and draped it over his head. "Thanks," he sad with a smile as he reached up to toy with the yarn. "It's really nice. Feels really soft."

When he started to rattle off information, she had to give a small giggle. After she had finished with his scarf, she'd put her own over her head. It actually made her laugh, a full on laugh. She looked ridiculous with the bright, fluffy scarf and her baggy hoodie and pants. "I look like a tool." She laughed into her arms as she buried her head in them, attempting to stop her laughter. She hadn't truly laughed in such a long time, it felt weird, but it was also nice. She missed it. She missed just goofing around and having fun. She missed being a kid. Maybe she would talk to John, see if he could do anything about her meds. She would just ask the Hermes kids, but they would ask too many questions. That's why she always had John get her prescriptions. No one gave him a hard time.
When her laughter finally died down, she noted the tears in her eyes from laughing so hard. She swiped at them, small chuckles still escaping her lips. "I'm sorry. I must seem so weird right now. I uh- haven't been doing very well, and I just haven't stopped to laugh in a while. So the sound made me laugh harder, and now I'm just rambling. Oh Gods, shut up, Mae." She buried her face in her arms once more, trying not to groan. Well, she had been making a new friend. She'd probably scare him off with her sudden mood swings.

Charlie gave a slight smile as the girl giggled at his information. He didn't know what made it so giggle-worthy, but it looked like Mae needed a laugh, so he wasn't going to question it. His smile got a lot bigger as she put on her own scarf and called herself a tool. "I don't know if a tool would be the best way to put it," he said with his own laugh. "I would say you look more ridiculous than anything." He kept smiling to himself as Mae tried her best to calm herself down from laughing, but he didn't know if it was possible at this point.
"Nah," he said as he shook his head. "I've seen weirder, but laughing isn't one of them. It's actually good for the soul." He shrugged a bit. "People should laugh more often, you know?"

"I look pretty tool-ish." She said with a snort, motioning to herself once more. The bulky mass of color with her black baggy clothes was quite the sight, to her anyways.
While she struggled for breath, she turned to grin up at him, the tears from her laughter still shimmering in the corners of her eyes. She swiped at them again before flopping part of the scarf over her head and crossing her eyes, a sudden wave of goofiness washing over her. "Does this help you laugh more?" She accentuated the emphasis on her accent before she attempted to touch the tip of her tongue to her nose. Maybe if Charlie laughed, she would laugh again. And if she laughed again, that meant she was okay, right? That meant that she wasn't slowly losing her mind and going insane again. Well...As insane as a 16 year old depressed Demigod could go. Actually, that was probably a lot if one was to really sit and mull over it.
She couldn't hold the face for long before she burst into another fit of laughter, this time forgetting to put her arms down before she doubled over. Her forehead smacked off of the table, and she couldn't even register the pain. It just made her laugh harder. She didn't move from the spot. She simply rested her forehead on the table and laughed. This kid was going to think she was nuts before the night was actually over.

"Nah," Charlie said as he shook his head with a bit of a smile. "I still don't think you look that tool-ish at all." But it was good to see Mae laughing. She looked like she really needed. Then again, who didn't need a good laugh? He raised an eyebrow at her as she asked if something would make him laugh more. He was about to ask what it was before she pulled the face with her tongue. He chuckled softly at first, but he really got going especially as Mae couldn't hold the face for long as she started laughing herself.
He thought they looked like idiots just laughing in the arts building by themselves. He laughed a bit harder as she whacked her forehead on the table. "C-careful there," he said between laughs as he reached out to put an hand on her shoulder. "Don't... don't hurt... yourself."
