Broken Cbox

So the cbox has been wonky tonight deciding if it wants to load or not. I checked into it and it looks like the cbox server is being dumb. Until it's resolved, you can try your luck in the cbox or chat in this thread.

So... Rachel is not happy with the cbox people at all. I managed to find their "contact us" link and sent them the following message below:

We've been having several issues with our service the last couple of months. We have been getting connectivity issues off and on the last couple of months, but the worst of it came last night (10/25/14). We were not able to connect to the cbox and our diagnostics said the errors came from the cbox server. This made several of us not happy at all as we experienced downtime of several hours.

And we're also having issues today (10/26/14). Our filters are not working. We have filters so that certain words get capitalized and colored. The capitalization is working, but not the colors. I have double-checked the coding and it's correct. We have also noticed that the "click" sound of the cbox has also changed. We find this new clicking very annoying and wish to have it changed back to the original sound.

We hope that these issues get resolved soon, but we are disappointed that we did pay money to have a premium cbox to only experience these issues.

Hello again,

First off, I am very disappointed about the lack of a timely response to our technical issues that we submitted back on October 26th as it's now December 1st. We submitted a report about several issues with our cbox service. Being a paid premium service, I am severely disappointed in not hearing anything. I am supplying a new email address just in case there was a communication issue.

We have not had any issues with connectivity lately, but we are still experiencing issues with the filters. As per my last message, the filters were doing the capitalization like we had it, but it was not doing any of the colors we had programmed. I have personally double-checked the coding and even checked the FAQs, but nothing has changed. I would like assistance in getting this up and running back again since this is a beloved feature by our members.

Also, we had submitted a complaint about the change of the clicking noise. We would prefer it to changed back to the old clicking as we find the current noise very annoying.

I hope this time around that I'll get a more timely response. If not, our subscription runs out on August 12, 2015 and on that day I will be taking my business to a company that takes these issues seriously. I am very disappointed that I would get a lack of a response for a paid service.

Hi Rachel

Thanks for your email and I do apologise for the lack of attention to your previous ticket.

I was not able to locate a previous ticket under your email address or account name. There may have been a technical problem at the time it was submitted.

However I assume the filter issue is related to colour codes not working when they previously did. The reason for this is usually a missing hash character in hex codes. We recently switched to HTML5 standards mode, and browsers are stricter about this. So where "color: ff0000" would have worked before, it now needs to be color: #ff0000

Let me know if this isn't the problem in your case.

Regarding the sound effect: we did have some reports of change in sound after we switched to HTML5 Audio. We did what we could to restore the old encoding but it may be that some device/browser combinations still produce a glitchy audio. Although there's unfortunately not much we can do at this point, we do now allow customers to use their own audio files for the tone -- you can select "Custom" from the drop-down at www.cbox.ws/admin.php?settings and enter a URL.
