Teddy walked quietly through the Big House, careful to avoid everyone. All he wanted to do today was curl up and read a book, especially as he was supposed to be with some Ares kids practicing in the arena. He never agreed to it, but he was sure he was going to get beaten up no matter whether he showed up or not. He clutched his favourite book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire to his chest as he pressed himself against a wall and waited for some fellow campers to pass by before he heaved a sigh and continued skulking around. Finally he reached a room towards the back of the house. He waited just inside the door for a few minutes to see if anyone would come in and when no one did the son of Athena relaxed and fell into one of the comfy armchairs. Wriggling around, Teddy sat sideways in the chair, back against one armrest and his legs over the other as he snuggled down and opened his book.
As he read, Teddy lost himself in the world of the book and stopped worrying about whether someone was going to come into the room. At the sound of the door closing suddenly, Teddy jumped in his chair, his book flying across the room in surprise and a sheepish look of surprise crossed his face as he looked at the cause of the noise.

Bryn had witnessed plenty of strange and usually explainable events in her life as a demigod. Weird just came with the job description of being a descendant of a god. But when she entered one of the back rooms of the Big House, closing the door behind her out of habit, she saw a copy of Harry Potter all but launch from an armchair and smack the floor near her. It was a bit funny, as if she had Accio'd the book or something, but Bryn refrained herself from laughing instead quickly mumbling an apology as she met the startled boy's gaze.
She'd only come in looking for a favorite pair of boots that had been cruelly hidden from her by one of her dumb siblings. A quick glance around the room left her disappointed, her boots nowhere to be seen. Biting back her annoyance she instead picked up the book (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire! She hadn't read that one yet.) and stepped over to the armchair, offering the book. "Sorry."

Teddy could feel himself turning red as he stared first at the girl who had come through the door, then at the book next to her and back again. He couldn't remember feeling this embarrassed for a long time. He felt his heart start to slow as the adrelaline started to leave his blood stream and allowed him to think more clearly. He slowly loosed his grip on the chair which made him realise that in his fright, the only things he had done to possibly save himself was to throw whatever was in his hands and grab hold of whatever he was sitting on. Gods he was pathetic, the son of Athena realised morosely, looking back done at his book. He would never make it as a demigod.
He looked back up at the girl's face again as she handed the book to him. It had honestly taken him until now to realise that she was actually quite pretty and Teddy could feel the blush start to return to his face at the thought. "Um, it's alright. Sorry about throwing the book at you." He tried to smile through his embarrassment as he took his book from her, not worried that he'd lost his place.

It was a funny situation to say the least. But Bryn prided herself in empathizing with others, and she would most certainly be a little more than embarrassed in this situation, so she offered an awkward smile in a vain attempt to diffuse the tension. "Don't worry about it. I'd rather have a copy of Harry Potter thrown my way rather than a flaming spear or something."
Bryn shrugged helplessly. "Your reflexes are top notch, though. Again, sorry. I'm just looking for a pair of my boots, you wouldn't have happened to see them anywhere around here . . .?" Ugh, there was no un-lame way to say that, was there? She bit the inside of her cheek in defeat. After returning the book she straightened up and took a small step backwards. The boy appeared chill enough, even a little dorky and quiet, and hey he enjoyed reading! Bryn didn't have a clue of his name, but she was already finding small details to use in favor of a possible friendship. It definitely did not hurt that he was attractive as well, in her opinion anyway.
