They All Leave (OPEN)

Jessi was reaching that point in her life where she really didn't care. Everyone she knew left her. Her parents? Left dead by harpies. Kurtis? Left her over guilt. And now Jaime? He also left her after an amazing one-night stand. Why the hell did Jessi even try anymore? If there was something that Jessi could trust, it was alcohol.

She'd been drinking most of the morning. First with beer and wine, but she moved onto the harder stuff. She had a bottle of rum in her hand as she stumbled through the strawberry fields. After a while, she plopped down in the middle of the field and took a big swig of rum. She sighed once the bottle was off her lips as she stared up into the sky.

Vincent walked through the strawberry fields reminiscing about life on the farm. He chuckled to himself a few times as he readjusted his sunglasses for the third time. He took them off with a sigh then grumbled to himself for a second before putting them back on. As he started to reach the middle of the field, he noticed a woman sitting and staring at the sky with what looked to be a bottle of something.
As he got closer to the woman he noticed it was a bottle of rum.


"Would it bother you if I joined you? If you want to be left alone,  I totally understand, but it isn't fun to drink alone. I know from experience." Vincent stated to the woman with a southern boy smile.  


He kind of hoped she wouldn't mind the company. She looked a little lonely, and he definitely could use some social interaction.

The sky was blue with a few clouds. There wasn't anything very interesting up there, but Jessi kept staring at it. She took another swig from her bottle before she heard a voice behind her. She glanced over her shoulder and raised an eyebrow when she saw a guy standing there. "That depends," she said as she helped herself to another swig before she continued, "are you gonna leave?"

She put her bottle on the ground and used that to push herself to a shaky standing position. She turned to look at the boy as she stumbled over to him a couple of steps. "I know guys like you," she said as she stuck a finger up to point at him. "And you always leave. So why should you join me?"

Vincent cocked an eyebrow at the woman then offered her a hand to keep her steady and then shook his head, "No, I'm not gonna leave unless you tell me too." He hoped that she wouldn't, because she had been drinking a good bit by the way she was acting.



He lifted his sunglasses to look into her eyes and then said,"You know guys like me, but you don't know me. If you get to know me, you will learn that I don't leave my friends or a beautiful woman alone when they need help." His lips formed into a frown as he talked.

"Do I even want to get to know you?" Jessi snapped back as she waved her bottle around. Luckily, she ran enough of it that the rum only sloshed in the bottle. "Maybe if you got to know me, you would want to leave. That's what made the rest of them leave. I'm apparently crazy and have powers I can't control." She sighed loudly as she looked down at her bottle. "Nobody loves me, except alcohol."

She took another swig as she looked at the guy with half-glazed over eyes. "You're still here," she muttered as she knitted her eyebrows together. "Why are you still here again?"

"I would like to get to know you. Besides crazy people are the best kind of people. As for getting to know me, you might actually find me like-able if you did," Vincent told the woman. He had yet to ask her name. Speaking of... "So what's your name? Mine is Vincent Alduint, and I'm one of the sons of Ares," Vincent added to the woman with a small smile.



"Well, I don't see why no one loves you. You seem like a lovely woman to me. Maybe you just haven't met the right person yet?"  Vincent slowly reached for the bottle. "Mind if I take a drink? All this talking has parched my throat."

Jessi stood there and squinted her eyes at the guy in front of her trying to figure out why he hadn't left yet. Maybe once she showed her true colors, he would leave. They always left, right? "Jessi," she muttered as she shrugged her shoulders a bit. "I'm a Zelus kid. Only one you'd find here, I think. I don't know. I haven't had any siblings since I got here."

She looked down at her bottle and contemplating taking another swig as she saw Vincent's hand slowly reach out for it. She pursed her lips for a moment in debate before she handed the bottle to him. "Go for it. It's almost empty anyway," she said as she looked up at him. "I need the Hermes cabin to fix me up again."

"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Jessi." Vincent took the bottle she offered. "I have a few bottles of moonshine the ranch hands at home gave to me. You're welcome to split them with me." Vincent wondered what had happened in her past to make her think that everyone would leave her. It must have been pretty bad, but he decided to wait until she was ready to tell him her story. 


"One of the small perks of working on a ranch, in the middle of nowhere, in Georgia was getting to make some of the best moonshine in the world. You'll love it; that I have no doubt of."

"You have moonshine?" Jessi asked as she pondered the fact for a moment. She thought about how long it would take the Hermes cabin to fix her up again, but here was Vincent right in front of her with his own supply of booze that he was apparently willing to share. "I like you," she said as she pointed at him while a very cheesy grin crept onto her face. "You have your own moonshine. I think that makes you so much better than the Hermes cabin."

She stumbled a couple of steps closer to him as she looked him in the eyes. "So do you think you could teach me to make this moonshine stuff? It would be amazing if I could make it myself and so much cheaper to what the Hermes cabin is charging."

"Yeah, I have like eight bottles of it tucked away in my trunk. Thanks Jessi, I like you too." A grin of his own had somehow found its way onto his face. He closed his eyes in thought for a second then opened them with a large Cheshire grin. He moved a little closer to catch her if she started to fall, getting lost in her eyes for a second. "Yeah, I can teach you, but we are gonna need a lot of copper tubing, yeast, and corn. Well, we might actually be able to make it out of strawberries. Yeah, that will work, and thanks for the compliment." He had somehow acquired a slight blush as that sentence caught him.

"Eight bottles?" she asked, not really quite sure she heard him right. She started giggling at the idea. Eight whole bottles for her to have right now instead of waiting for that blasted Hermes cabin? "Eight whole bottles," she repeated through giggles. She looked at him as he told her everything they needed to make their own moonshine. At the mention of strawberries, Jessi looked down at her feet and around them. "Well, we have plenty of those around here. We just have to be sneaky about it. Mr. D won't like it that we took his beloved strawberries." She looked up at him before she smirked and winked at him. "But that can be our little secret, right?"

"You definitely heard me right, Jessi." He smiled and enjoyed the sound of her giggle. "Yeah, it can be. If we get caught, then it was all my idea, but I bet Mr. D could be bribed with a little bit of our product." He winked back fighting to keep a slightly darker blush from his face.



She was flirting with him, and he was just blushing. Ugh, he seriously needed to flirt back. "Now the only thing I need to think of is what to charge you for teaching you how to make moonshine." He winked again as another Cheshire style grin graced his face. "I'm kidding with you. Both the lessons and the shine are a gift as well as the friendship of this handsome Southern gentleman.

"Hmm..." Jessi hummed as she bit her lower lip in thought. "Maybe we can bribe him, but I don't know if I want to share any of it with him." She giggled a bit at the thought. She clasped her hands behind her back as she rocked up to her tiptoes before rocking down. "I think Mr. D would be pretty greedy and would want more. But I might be able to sweet talk him." She shrugged her shoulders. "Or we can hope we don't get caught."

"Charge me?" she giggled as she batted her eyelashes just a bit. But then he mentioned about it being a gift and she giggled a bit more. "Are you sure?" she asked as she leaned up a bit closer to him. "Because I can repay you in a way I think you'd might like."

Vincent watched her bite her lower lip and wondered what it would feel like to do it himself. He quickly shook that thought off. "Well, I could have my friends send us the mostly finished product, and we could just do the last bit ourselves. We wouldn't need as much stuff that way. They make more than they need anyways. We also would not have to worry about getting caught." He looked away to prevent himself from staring at the beautiful girl rocking back and forth in front of him.



"Well, I mean if you want to give me a gift in return, I won't turn it down. I mean, it would be rude of me to do so." He had a feeling he knew exactly what she intended to give him, and he definitely would like it.

"Good," Jessi said as she smiled widely at him and giggled. "I'm not really a fan a sharing, especially when it comes to my booze. You just lucked out." She winked at him as she bit her lower lip once more. She made up her drunken mind right there and then that she really did like Vincent, because he had booze.

She raised an eyebrow at him at the mention of her payment being a gift. "Well... it can be a gift if you want it to be. It's not necessarily one you can give back if you don't like it. But I can give you a little preview." She giggled a bit as she leaned in to peck him on the cheek. She giggled as she pulled away. "Did you like it?"
