Harvey's day had started out nicely as far as he could figure. No hangover, Sonic hadn't escape his cage, his clothes were suspiciously clean, and he'd gotten chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. He should have known that it wasn't going to last. Good things never continue all day. Harvey contemplated where he'd went wrong in the day's events as he watched his canoe float away from him in the unusually empty lake. So caught up in his contemplation was he that it actually took him a few moments to register that his canoe was floating away from him.
The traitor.
There was a mad scramble, filled with splashing water, as he registered this. Mouth agape and movements wild as he considered diving in the lake despite the whole 'wearing shoes' thing. "Um.." He whispered the word before looking around in a vague hope of finding someone already in the water. "Can someone catch my canoe?" He called out, though he was untying his shoes as he spoke. There's no way a child of Poseidon would be so conveniently placed as to rescue his canoe.

Note to self: Don't challenge someone when you know you won't win. Laurel inspected her left hand which was freshly wrapped from the infirmary. Under the white wrappings was a thick layer of burn ointment that was evenly coated over a second degree burn, a burn which covered the inside of her palm to the tips of her fingers. Challenging an Ares kid to a lava wall race wasn't exactly Laurel's brightest moment, and now, in retrospect, she should've known there was no chance of her winning the bet. Alas, Laurel's pride got to her head, and in return, mangled her hand.
Thankfully, the medics assured the daughter of Poseidon that, with a little help of nectar and ambrosia, her disadvantage would only be temporary. This, however, did not mellow the pain of the burn. It was still irritated, whether it was caused by the burn itself or the ointment, Laurel didn't know. What the daughter of Poseidon did know was that she needed to get to the nearest body of water, hoping that her father's domain would give her comfort.
Instead, she found herself on the shore watching a boy calling after his strayed canoe. It was a bit funny, she had to admit, and there was a small part of her that wanted to see whether or not the boy would actually jump into the freezing water. She decided to be moral and made her way towards him. "I've heard about refrigerators running away, but certainly not canoes." Laurel crouched and made a beckoning motion at the water, commanding small waves to form and carry the boat back to shore. "Maybe you should invest in a canoe leash," she quipped once the canoe was safely docked.

Harvey was staring at the traitorous water, still debating if he wanted to test losing his toes by wading into the freezing water. Okay, so that was possibly being melodramatic but Harvey didn't really want to be cold at all. Preferably he'd like to remain dry as well. His contemplations were interrupted -thankfully- by a girl walking over towards him talking. He offered her a wide grin as she joked. But more importantly, as she commanded the water to bring back his canoe. "I think the lake is still made at me for tossing in a drunk cabinmate to try and sober him up." Harvey admitted without losing the grin. As the canoe made it's way over, and she continued talking bless her, he nodded solemnly. "Yes, a canoe leash would be grand. But who is even working in inventing them? I'll need to look into this." He responded without missing a beat.
"I'm Harvey, by the way. Dionysus Cabin Leader."
