Everything's coming up roses. Lie. That was one of the biggest lies Daven ever heard. Nothing was happy or excellent. And the flowers by Daven's feet were sure not roses.
Daven had no explanation why she was sitting in the middle of the strawberry field and staring at the ground willing different flowers to grow in front of her. It was better than sitting in her cabin and crying herself to sleep, again, since Cody died. That seemed to be her usual. Hide in the cabin and cry herself to sleep.
Daisies. Peonies. Lilacs. But no roses. But her powers had to be at their weakest since it was fall, but usually she could make the flowers last longer despite it. Daisies. Peonies. Lilacs. As soon as they grew out of the ground, they would just wither and die. Daisies Peonies. Lilacs. Maybe if she concentrated a bit harder? Daisies. Peonies. Lilacs.

Fitz liked it in the strawberry fields. The fresh scent of growing things, fertile dirt underneath his hooves, and company that never seemed as terrifying as the kids that hung around places like the Arena. Now that was somewhere Fitz never wanted to spend any more time than strictly necessary.
Today was one of the days where Fitz had taken refuge among the plants, a ball of yarn tucked under on arm and a bird sitting on his head. He would have felt like a regular Disney princess if it weren't for the fact he was currently hiding from a twelve year old. A very scary twelve year old, in his defense. Yes, it was better that he'd run away from that entire mess.
To his left he felt that familiar tingle of nature being manipulated. Familiar only due to his current location- the children of Demeter never left the plants be. Fitz gave the spot he was aiming for a sad glance before being drawn over to where he felt the origin. Feet fairly quiet on the ground. "Um... Hello? Are you.. Okay?" He called out as he entered the clearing, shoulders hunching over as he buried his chin in his ever present scarf.

Daisies. Peonies. Lilacs. Every time they popped up by her feet, they only seemed to wither and die. Maybe if she tried harder? Daisies. Peonies. Lilacs. She was so focused by this rhythm in her head. Daisies. Peonies. Lilacs. She barely noticed that anyone walked up to her and she nearly jumped out of her skin when she finally realized that someone was talking to her and looked up.
"Oh," she said as she jumped a bit and the flowers she was working on died immediately. "I... ummm..." she looked at the boy as she tried to think of the answer to his question. Why was it so hard to think of the answer? He was a satyr. One with a very comfy scarf that Daven couldn't help but be envious of.
"I... I... I don't know," she finally admitted to the satyr before she clasped her hands in front of her and looked down at them. She played with her fingers a bit before looking up at him. "I don't know if I'm okay. My flowers aren't staying alive like they usually do. And I like to grow really pretty flowers, but the roses aren't coming up either. I don't know what's wrong."

The bird in his hair moved a bit, hopping from one barely visible horn to the other slightly longer (and more curled) horn. It chirped quietly before flying off towards the forest where it's nest was. One hoof kicked the ground nervously, causing his jeans to to pull on fur a bit painfully, as he watched the girl. She was nervous. Almost as much as he was.
His hand moved to pull on his scarf, pulling it closer to his face as he shuffled towards her. Fitz wasn't always good at helping people mostly due to his tendency to run away when things got tense. But this girl didn't seem mean, or rude, or like she was going to throw something at him. She mostly just seemed... sad. He shuffled closer still, moving until he reached the edge of where the dead flowers lay withered and blackened.
"Maybe... Um.." He went quiet, moving the scarf until it covered his mouth and muffled his voice. "Are.. you sad?" She seemed sad, and he was certain that she was sad. But the older kids always got mad at him when he was little for just assuming. Even if he wasn't. In either case he figured asking was less likely to cause anger.

Daven looked up at the satyr and noticed that there was a little bird on his head. She tilted her head to the side to study it before it flew away. Once it was gone, she straightened her head to look at the satyr in front of her. Her eyes drifted towards his scarf. She wandered how comfy it would be. It would definitely something she could cry into during those long nights in her cabin.
She jumped again as he spoke to her, forcing her out of her thoughts. She glanced off to the side as she bit a corner of her lip. Sad? Was that the word she was trying to find? Was she sad?
She slowly nodded her head as she turned back to the satyr. "Yeah... I guess I'm sad. I guess my powers don't work when I'm sad." She looked down at her hands again. If that was the case, then her powers weren't at their full force in almost three years. She looked back up at the satyr with a sad smile. "What's your name? I'm Daven. I'm a daughter of Persephone."

Fitz moved slowly till he was sitting across from the sad girl, scarf still pulled around his chin and shoulders rucked up to his ears. He was watching her with a steady, if tiny, smile on his face. He wasn't sure what else he could do for her. Except. She kept looking at his scarf. Maybe she wanted it? His fingers twitched briefly against the fabric at the thought of losing yet another one.
It saddened him a bit to think of someone not able to use their powers just because they were sad. At least when he was sad and scared, the birds could still chirp at him in a language he'd understand. What would it be like not to be able to do that? He couldn't imagine. Didn't want to imagine. His shoulders dropped a little as he reached down to go through his pockets, looking for his pipe. He could cheer her up by helping the flowers along. Her question had him giving her a small, hesitant smile. "I'm Fitz... A Satyr." He added, as though she couldn't tell otherwise. "It's nice to meet you, Daven."

Daven watched the boy... satyr quietly as he moved to sit down in front of her. She could tell this boy was hesitating or at least skiddish. Daven didn't understand why. She was just here in the middle of the strawberry field growing flowers. Or, at least, trying to grow flowers. She tilted her head to the side as the satyr introduced himself. "Fitz..." she said trying the name out for herself. "That's a nice name..."
She studied him as her eyes kept drifting back to the scarf he was wearing, but she also noticed the ball of yarn that was tucked underneath his arm. "That's a nice scarf you have," she said as she looked back up at him. "It looks comfy. Did you knit it yourself?"

His fingers were already settled around the set of pipes, tugging it free from where he hides it. Of course then he registered what he'd asked. Fitz gave a slightly sheepish smile in response, having honestly forgotten about the yarn tucked away under his arm. How he could forget about an object he'd been holding onto he'd never really know. Fitz nodded his head a bit, "I did. I.. I like knitting. It's fun and calming."
Fitz glanced between the set of pipes in his hand and the sad demigod sitting across from him. He thought that maybe it would still be a good idea to cheer her up with. But what if she didn't agree? What if she got upset and started crying? What then? "Um.... I could grow, um, I could help the flowers?" He offered it slowly, half prepared to just shove the pipes back in his pocket.

"Huh..." Daven thought as she bit her lower lip. "I don't know how to knit... I should probably learn so I can make comfy scarves like yours." She smiled a bit sadly. That would make Chiron slightly happy if she picked up another hobby, right? It would distract her from the crying and moping she was constantly doing for the past three years.
She watched him take out of a set a pipes and mentioned that he could help her with her flowers. She looked down at the wilted petals by her legs before she looked back up at him. "You can do it?" she asked as her face lightened up a bit. "Satyrs can help with flowers?" She looked down at her feet and pressed her lips together before she finally shrugged and looked back at him. "I guess we can try... it doesn't hurt to try, right?"
