Audrey still couldn't believe that Freedom agreed to grab food with her in the mess hall. When was the last time Audrey had been on a.... was this even considered a date? It was probably more just hanging out and getting to know each other, which was okay by Audrey. On the way over, there was small talk between the girls and Audrey confirmed that she had a crush on Freedom. Now when was the last time she crushed on somebody? It had to be a good long while, so this was a nice change for the huntress.

They made their way to the mess hall and Audrey grabbed her food and sat down at a table waiting for Freedom. Audrey quickly found out that she wasn't that hungry because of her nerves and ended up picking at her food until her friend arrived.

Eating with someone in the mess hall. How had Freedom gotten into this situation? Not that it was a bad thing. To the contrary Free had very much enjoyed the walk over and the prospect that this might actually turn into, dare she say it, a date, was very intriguing.

Free hadn’t been on many dates. Most of her experiences with love, if you could call it that, were a bit more spontaneous in nature. No one had really ever bothered trying to get to know her or take her on dates and yet here she was with Audrey actually feeling like they were finding a real honest to gods connection. It was different but in a refreshing way that she liked. The very fact that she was here at all was a pretty big accomplishment. In fact, Free wasn’t even hungry but she grabbed an apple just the same to keep up appearances. She didn’t want this to get weird after all.

She found Audrey sitting at a table picking at her food disinterestedly and slid into the spot across from her. “Hey, that’s going to get cold if you don’t eat up.” She said with a little half smile as she sat down with her apple. Free wasn’t sure if Audrey was up for more teasing but she hoped that everything was okay. “They didn’t have anything you liked?”

Audrey chuckled as she looked up from her fries at Freedom. She picked something simple, just as it looked liked Freedom did, but those damn nerves of hers. She had to remind herself that this wasn't a date... well... not technically... they were just grabbing food. Food that Audrey could barely find herself wanting to eat. She shook her head at Freedom's question.

"Nah, I guess I was waiting for you to come by." She smiled a bit before she finally took a bite of her fries. They didn't taste as good as they usually do, but Audrey blamed it on the nerves. Stupid, stupid nerves. She raised her eyebrows a bit as she nodded her head towards Freedom's apple. "I'm guessing we're both not really hungry?"

Freedom was about to take a small bite of her apple when Audrey called her out. She stopped mid bite and gave an embarrassed grin. She was caught but luckily enough it seemed that Audrey was in the same situation. Of course Free could have lied and said she really didn’t know what Audrey was talking about but sometimes honesty was the best policy especially when she didn’t want to do anything to screw things up here. “I uh guess you caught me…”

She chuckled nervously unsure of what she should do next. Should she admit that she was really just coming to be with Audrey or would it be better to play hard to get? Why couldn’t this stuff all be simpler? Trying to figure out what another person wanted was hard enough but add into it those crazy emotions that no one really understood it made things almost impossible. ”You aren’t mad are you? I was really kind of more interested in talking…with you.”

Audrey chuckled a bit as she shook her head. She suggested food because it sounded good at the moment and thought Freedom could use something, but now she was seeing it was just an excuse to spend more time with each other. Audrey didn't mind that at all. She smiled a bit at Freedom as she pushed her fries off to the side, deciding that they weren't sounding or tasting that good right there and then.

But she was caught off guard when Freedom asked if she was mad. "Mad?" she asked a bit confused. "Why would I be..." Then she realized what she was getting at and she shook her head vigorously to make her point. "No, no. I'm not mad. Food was just an excuse to be with you longer." She sighed as she reached out to push her hair out of her face. "Sorry. I'm pretty rusty at this. It's been a while since I've found someone I want to get to know better. Maybe food wasn't the best suggestion. It might be borderline cliche to be honest."

Free watched as Audrey pushed her food away and took that as a good sign. If nothing else it at least let her know that the hunter was just as unsure of herself here as she was. Not that this really solved the issue but it showed that they had both come along for the same reason. “Well it sounds like we were at least looking for the same thing in the end.”

Free gave a chuckle as Audrey mentioned being a little rusty. Maybe they had more in common than they already knew. “I hear you. Thanks for inviting me though. If it makes you feel any better it’s been a while since I’ve let someone ask me out for…well anything so…” She meant to say something along the lines of how Audrey was the first person in a long time that she didn’t feel like punching in the face whenever they tried to hit on her but decided that sounded a bit extreme and just left it open. In any case she was enjoying her time with Audrey even if neither of them really knew what they were doing. “Anyways maybe we should just start over. We are both here and there’s nothing saying that we still can’t get to know each other better.”

Well... this was awkward and Audrey didn't know if she blew her chance or not. Was she really that rusty that she led a girl here on false pretenses? Dear gods, this whole getting to know you before potentially dating thing was hard. This made Audrey's taking over the world and overthrowing the gods plan seem like a piece of cake.

Audrey gave Freedom a sheepish smile as she was thanked for the invitation. She reached up to tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear as she blushed a bit. "So I guess we're both a bit rusty at this?" she asked as she chuckled a bit. She pressed her lips together as Freedom suggested that they started over. Audrey slowly nodded her head. "Yeah, I think that sounds good. Stating over sounds good."

She laughed a bit as she shrugged her shoulders. "Well, I'm Audrey. Daughter of Ares and Hunter of Artemis. I like French fries when they taste good and stabbing things with my knives."

Free thought it was cute when Audrey went into her whole spiel introducing herself for a second time. The hunter certainly didn’t seem to be very rusty at all. Free didn’t care what she said it was easy to talk with her and her willingness to keep a good sense of humor about all this despite everything that had happened was endearing. On a whole Freedom found herself feeling a little less awkward about the whole ordeal.

“And I’m Freedom. Daughter of Heracles and mutilator of punching bags. I like tattoos and piercings and have a habit of getting into trouble.” Free chuckled at herself a little. She could have added in 'camp screw up' to that mix but decided not to into detail about all the many times she had broken camp rules in various ways. She still wasn’t sure what kind of person Audrey was after all. “So we’re talking now. I like that. You’re pretty easy to talk to which is kind of a change of pace for me. Most people tend to shy away from the girl splitting open punching bags. Is that an Ares thing or do you just like a girl who can take care of herself?”

Audrey raised her eyebrows at the mention of tattoos. Piercings she could see and Audrey did have her fair share of them, but tattoos? Audrey smirked a bit as she leaned in closer to Freedom. "If you have any, I think you need to show me sometime." She winked at the girl before she sat up straight again.

Audrey laughed as she shrugged her shoulders a bit. "I guess a little bit of both, honestly." She laughed a bit before she shook her head. "I guess... I don't know... I haven't seen anyone who can split a punching bag with their bare hands, so I guess I just had to meet them and possibly get to know them. And I guess I'm really glad that it was you who did it."

Free smirked as Audrey asked about seeing her tattoos. She had been hoping that the hunter would ask about them and didn't mind playing show and tell but that could come at another time. Still, it was good to know Audrey was interested in seeing them and hopefully that meant that they had a reason to see more of each other. "Perhaps." She said coquettishly. "If you ask nicely."

Freedom thought for a moment about Audrey's next statement about being glad they had run into each other. Free was kind of glad too and liked that Audrey thought the same. "I guess that turned out pretty well huh? At least I think so. If I had known this was the best way to meet cute french fry eating, knife stabbing hunter girls I might have tried getting angry at the punching bags more often. Good thing I got your attention."

Audrey couldn’t believe that Freedom just flirted with her bluntly. Not like the two had been flirting… or what Audrey considered as flirting. But to have it this straightforward… Audrey knew she had to be in the clear. She chuckled slightly as a mischievous smile crept onto her face. “Oh, I will ask nicely. Pretty please and all.” She winked again at Freedom as well. She shifted in her spot so she was leaning over the table and a bit closer to Freedom.

“Well…” she said as she let the word drag on a little longer than what it should’ve been. “I guess this cute hunter girl met a pretty cute one herself, so I guess we both win, don’t you think?”

Free chuckled a little at Audrey's attempt to ask nicely. It felt like they were both loosening up a little and showing some more of their true personalities. That was fine as it made Freedom think they were getting more comfortable with each other and overcoming the nerves they had shown initially. "Alright, alright" she said with a laugh. "I don't think you'll have any problem being nice. Maybe we can see how things turn out."

Turning her attention down towards the table Free began to absently play with her apple. Maybe she was entirely over her nerves yet but this talk was helping. "Yeah I think so. This is nice. Who knows, maybe we can hang out some more now. What do you like to do anyways? Well besides stabbing things of course."

"I hope things turn out well," she said with a slight chuckle. "Because I do want to see what kind of tattoos you've decided to get. It can tell something about a person you know?" She smirked a bit as she imagined what kind of tattoos were there. Audrey knew she wouldn't be disappointed either way.

"Well..." Audrey said as she tried to think. What hobbies did she have besides leading the Usurpers and trying to overthrow the gods? "Well..." she repeated again. "I like knitting and listening to rock music. And biking... if I could ever find one around here." She shrugged her shoulders as she leaned back a little bit. "What about you? Any interesting hobbies?"

Free smirked her little side ways smirk when Audrey mentioned wanting things to turn out well. Freedom didn't think she had ever met someone like Audrey with the ability to make her feel simultaneously good about herself and sound sincere enough to make her believe the hunter wasn't just trying to take advantage of her. It was a good feeling. "Yeah I think I want them to as well and hopefully you won't be disappointed."

Free listened on as Audrey mentioned some of her hobbies. There weren't too many that they could do together, at least not here. Music was okay though. Generally she enjoyed music too so maybe that was something they could share. It would also be interesting to see this knitting Audrey was talking about as that hobby came as a big surprise. A good surprise that made Free curious but a surprise nonetheless.

"umm...Well I don't guess there are too many things about me to find out." She said as Audrey turned the question around. "I'm not too horribly interesting. Most of the time I'm either sneaking out of my cabin after curfew or fighting things..." Free supposed that wasn't a very good answer but she didn't really know what else to say. She didn't find herself very interesting at all which may have been a reflection of her poor self-esteem but she just didn't think there was much to tell. "I do like art...like drawing and sketching and stuff. I...uh...designed a few of my own tattoos so there's that. It's kind of my thing I guess."

"Hey," Audrey said with a slight smile. "We have fighting things in common... and maybe potentially trouble making... I was on a first name basis with the police officers back in my hometown before I discovered camp... I would like to think that I've kept my nose clean since I've come to camp, but it's at least cleaner than back home." She knew her nose was clean, but she knew she had bloodstained hands. But that didn't matter for now. It wasn't something Freedom had to know now... or ever.

Audrey raised her eyebrows. "You designed your own tattoos?" she asked, clearly impressed by the girl's talent if she was willing to ink it onto her skin. "Now I have to see these tats... have you designed any tattoos for someone else?" She leaned back in towards Freedom as she looked her in the eyes. "Can I see your drawings sometime? They have to be good if they're on your body."
