Harper was slowly working herself into camp during the daylight hours. It started out slowly with only being out during the sunrise or sunset with her being out during the night. But now she was out for a few hours at a time and nobody seemed to be upset by her presence or went screaming and complaining to Chiron. Or at least... not yet. But during those daylight hours, she limited herself to places where there wouldn't be an abundance of campers, like the strawberry fields. She was going around to each plant and touching it trying to see if it needed her powers or not. Usually, she wasn't out here checking on the plants. That was a job for the Dionysus cabin, but apparently they had a harsh harvest season and needed the Demeter cabin to check it out. And since Harper was no longer cabin leader, she couldn't boss her siblings around to do it, so she got volunteered for it. She didn't mind it too much, since she got out of the cabin during day light hours. So she did this for a little while, walking to each strawberry plant to check the status and heal it if it wasn't doing too well. (tag: Cody Davis )

Timing was everything to Cody, and we was a ticking time bond on ten.
Nine Times he had tried to forget the smell, to leave these damn plants and flowers and let himself go back to sitting alone and waiting for the plan. He was convinced to not bother with his old life, it wouldn't be around much longer anyways. Yet he kept walking around the fields. He knew why he was drawn here, why his feet traced the paths without looking at them. He spent a lot of time here after the end happened. Waiting for them to come so they could talk. She never did, why would she come now.
Eight times the voice had spoken to him since he was revived. Eight trusting words and plans unrevealed. Soothing voices and telling him he would matter once again. That he would mean something greater than what they made him before. He wouldn't be a forgotten name.
Seven times he had prayed to the gods during that battle. All unanswered and uncared. Left alone and defenseless against his doom. His gods left him. His father deserted him.
Six times he had seen his old life around camp. Mostly with his sister, he kept a close eye on her to make sure she would be safe from this all. At first he didn't care, but she was one of the few that actually cared what happened to him. That mourned him. He was her brother still, thought the years had past he still remembered the day she came into his life and swore he would protect her. Once it was another girl though.
Five Days till Phase one. Four till their revolution began. Three years, stuck in hell. Literally. Two Krakens ready to be unleashed.
And one Girl, in a sea of Strawberries that made his bomb skip a tick. One girl that got away. One life never to be lived. He stared he knew, but he couldn't make himself leave. Everything came back at once. Once they broke up he tried to find her and talk to her here, but she was never here. She finally was but he wasn't here anymore. He was long gone years ago. Then why couldn't he bring himself to leave?

Harper kept walking to each plant as she crouched down over it and inspected. Wilted leaves and a couple of dead berries, but it wasn't outside of her powers. She'd hold a leaf between her fingers gingerly and concentrated just hard enough that the plant would be restored to its peak.
She looked up after she was done tending to one of these plants and she froze. Harper had to be seeing things. She just had to. There was no way that Cody Davis, her first love, was standing in the strawberry fields with her only a little bit away. She saw him die. Practically half the camp witnessed his brutal murder. But stranger things had happened besides people coming back from the dead. Harper probably knew that better than anyone else.
But she needed to confirm that she wasn't seeing things. She moved to stood up, but her legs were shaky and were probably going to give out on her. “Cody?” she called out, her voice also shaky. She just needed to know.

Well shit. There went Cody's plan to literally avoid Harper. Part of his didn't want to, part of him also still fed off the pain from before his death. He didn't even know what they were before he died, now? That he was literally a undead, cold, unfeeling pawn? Who even knew. Her voice was so shaky that it should have bothered him. It should have made him sad and want to help. But it didn't.
Harper. He might have said it, he might have thought it but either way he knew it was running thought his head. "Harper." he said simply once she was close enough to hear, steady voice fooling what he felt inside. How would this even go? 'Guess who isn't dead?' No, Cody knew Harper, even when she didn't. "Its been a while." he more softly, that smirk that always seemed to play off his lips when she was around sneaking up. He didn't even know how he remember it.

Her eyes weren't deceiving her. It was him right there in the flesh and blood and Harper's knees wanted to give out on her. She took a deep breath as she tried to steady herself in her spot as she watched him walk closer to her. Was this a dream and she would wake up as soon as he spoke to her? She prayed that wasn't so, but there was also a good chance she would wake up and this all be a dream. Or a nightmare. Or whatever this would be classified as.
But it wasn't. He spoke her name and she got the chills. There was no emotion in his voice, but memories flooded her mind of all the different times and situations he had said her name. And those conflicting emotions she thought she had squashed after his death, but that no longer seemed to be the case. Her eyes glistened a bit as he spoke and a smirk crept onto his lips. A smirk she had known all too well. "It sure has been," she said as she reached up to rub the tears out of her eyes. "I missed you."

Tears. Daven had started crying too, and just as before he didn't know how to comfort them. He didn't feel the urge to cry, he didn't know how he felt. Everything was blank and alien to him. He watched her for a second before he walked up closer to her and started to pat her head gently. He didn't say anything for a while, he just left his cold hand smooth the top of her head, let everything just sink in. Its a hard blow apparently. He sighed softly. "I'm sorry."
He had no reason to apologize, he had done nothing wrong, but it was all he could feel to say. Apologize for leaving her, apologize for coming back after years. Just apologize for everything. "I'm sorry Harper."

He was apologizing to her? That made no sense, even if she was tearing up after seeing him again. She was the one who wrong him so many times on so many nights. And yet he was the one apologizing? She took deep breaths as she tried to wipe the tears of her eyes just as he walked over to stroke her hair. His touchy was eerie, especially when she thought she would never feel it again.
After a couple of moments, she shook her head as she sniffed. "I should be the one that's sorry. I was so horrible to you. I should've stopped but I didn't... and I tried to make things right..." She pressed her lips together before she said, "But then you had to be heroic against the Kraken. Why did you have to be the hero then?"

Cody let her cry it all out. Three years worth of a unclosed goodbye. That had to do a lot to her. Then again, the Three years hadn't been kind to him. He sometimes remembered the heroes paradise, how he was plagued to watch the girl he had loved. Or was it loved? He didn't remember anymore how he had felt when it happened. He didn't know how he had felt.
He shook his head as she spoke and grabbed her face, making her look at him. "Harper Don't apologize. Its the past. It can't be changed." he said softly, letting himself drop her face at the next words. He turned instantly colder, tightening up inside and out. "Don't call me that. I've never been a hero." She had no idea. The old Cody maybe have wanted to be that hero. He knew what it was like to be a dead hero though, and knew what he needed to get his live fully restored. He honored his side, the Voice it's. "I wasn't being a Hero, I was just doing what we were trained to do. Fight" There. That sounded something like the old Cody.

The emotions came quicker than Harper was expecting. The tears that were welling up in her eyes were now streaking down her face and she couldn't stop them, despite how much she swiped at her eyes and her cheeks. Being with Cody right now in her point in her life... she wouldn't admit it to anyone, but her and Xenos had been fighting a lot since they moved back east. He didn't want her to go back to camp, but Harper missed life there. She wasn't sure if anything was going to go right, but here was Cody in the flesh and blood right in front of her.
Cody made her look at him and Harper tried to look him in the eyes, but her gaze flickered down to his lips. His lips felt so good on hers and gods knew the last time she'd been kissed by anybody. Her eyes went back to him as she watched him. He didn't change one bit and that was years ago. She pressed her lips together before she whispered, "You've always been a hero to me, no matter what you think. You were always my hero during that battle."

While Harper saw a unchanged Cody, he saw nothing of his formal self. He saw everything around him. How things went on, some didn't, how changes happened and how nothing changed. One thing was certain, how much she had changed. The Harper he remembered, just faintly was not the one standing in front of him. This wasn't a human it was shell, much like the ones he use to find as a kid. Beaten up and broken by the waves, worn into a thin bone with cracks and holes, some how still staying together. He remembered as a kid when his powers manifested, picking one up and watching it seemed to fill back to life just at his touch. Harper wasn't a shell he could fix though. All he could do was break. He wasn't a soothing wave anymore. He was a tsunami ready to sweep away everything.
"None of us are heroes." he said softly, as if trying to sooth her while teaching her. Maybe Harper would be the one to understand the light that the voice had shown him. "We play heroes and let the gods tell us we were blessed and chosen when in reality, once we are gone they all forget our names and who we were. Just more mortals with puny mortal lives. No matter how much we kid ourselves otherwise." He got sterner, his voice rising. "I've been to hell and back and can tell you that there is no freedom either way. No happiness, just more false hopes. So that hero you keep saying I was, is just that, something I was."

Harper looked at Cody as he spoke to her. It was like he was trying to tell her something profound and important. But she really didn't listen as her eyes glanced down to his lips as he spoke. They still looked so soft and the way they moved as he spoke. Harper knew she needed to listen to what he was saying, but at the same time, she had something clearly different on her mind. Cody was here and so close and when was the last time she was kissed? Not since she moved back here when the fights started up. But Cody was here. And he was alive. And he looked so kissable at that moment.
"Okay," she muttered once he stopped talking as she put a hand on his chest and looked up at him through her eyelashes. She moved a bit closer to him before she paused for a moment. Then she looked down at his lips before she closed the gap between them for a kiss. A very long overdue kiss.

Sparks and sea god sons never mixed well. The spark was from the kiss but it wasn't a spark you'd expect. It came from the back of his head, almost as if something had clicked and knocked another out of place. Cody flinched for a second before letting her kiss him. He wanted to say it brought back a memory of happiness of feeling, that he felt a warmth that he crazed once again but he didn't all he felt was pain. It was screaming and engulfing him from the back of his head. Memories and dark magic pressed into his very soul and seemed to battle for control of his thoughts. But neither side could win, because the winner of his attention was in front of him.
It last only a few seconds more but it might as well have been the entire time he had been in that forsaken place all over again. As the broke apart the pain faded from his head and while it ended something else was left. He just knew why he had done it all those years ago. While he threw himself into the front line, tried to be the hero she kept proclaiming him to be. It wasn't glory, it wasn't fear or determination. It was her. All those years ago he had been trying to save her. Keep her safe. This time though, he was putting her in danger, he was the one doing the harm. He backed away from the girl, letting his hand linger purposely too long on her face. Chances are he wouldn't see her again before it happened. Though he did hope she would live to see their new order. Daven held a place in his coldness that he felt couldn't be warmed till now. He couldn't stay, the voice was calling him now. He let his hand fall "I will see you around Harps" That was all he could say, till their victory he had to stay distant. But afterwords? He let the thought past as he walked away from the girl that had once gotten away, but not again.
