Something Wicked | Drew

[Hannah Nichols]

Rumors around camp were so boring, but Hannah found one that really piqued her interest. If she had it her way, she would've jumped on the rumor as soon as possible. Unfortunately, that was not the case. After her case of food poisoning, she got hit with double lung pneumonia and she was on strict bed rest for months. But now that she had the clean bill of health, she could act.

She had to watch her target for a few nights to observe and that's when she found something interesting and that was it. That was her blackmail. So one of these nights, she made sure the coast was clear before she entered the Thanatos cabin and straight towards where she saw certain bottles were being stashed. She grabbed them and smirked when she saw the labels. This was good. Very good. Now to wait in the shadows until her target came back.

What a day. Drew walked back to his cabin tired, alone and looking like he was dead to the world. He had been skimping on his meds recently. He didn't want to run out and he had been trying to make his supply last. He didn't know if he could do that but he was trying it anyways and it was finally starting to take its toll. At this point all Drew really wanted to do was take his meds, fall into bed and just crash. Maybe at least then he would be able to get some peaceful rest for once.

He entered his cabin not really looking for anything out of the ordinary. No one came by his cabin except for him and Viv and if anything was out of place he would have assumed Viv had been there. Drew had only one thing on his mind and he went straight for the dresser with its hidden stash of pills. There was one problem though. The pills weren't there. "Gods damn it..." He grumbled and began looking around for where he might have put those pill bottles. He had to find them or he was going to be in some serious trouble.

Hannah stayed quiet in the shadows as she watched the boy go to his nightstand and cursed when he realized his meds were gone. She tried to stay quiet a few moments longer, but her wicked glee was getting the best of her. She chuckled lowly and shook his pill bottle enough to get his attention as she stepped out of the shadows.

“Looking for these?” she asked just before she looked at the label and smirked. “Well would you look at that. Huntington’s Disease? Funny for a child of death. Does your little bitch know about it or are you keeping it a secret like you're doing to the rest of the camp?”

Drew didn't have to look long until he found the real reason behind his missing pills. A little rattle of the pill bottle and a malicious chuckle behind him had him turning around in a blur to face whoever dared sneak into his cabin and toss his stuff. What he found there though caused him to pause. He had a vague recollection of the girl's face but it had been a while since he had seen her. He had seen her somewhere before though and after a moment everything slid into place with a grim finality. "You..." He remembered her now. It was the crazy usurper girl he had met in the forest a few weeks back. The one that had made all those threats and now here she was again apparently with a vengeance.

Drew narrowed his eyes at the girl. He was angry and he wasn't in the mood for games. The fact that she knew about Viv at all showed that she had been watching him for some time and that only made him angrier. Whatever this girl's angle was he was having none of it. "What do you want?" He snapped at her. "And if you mention a word about this to Viv or anyone else I'm going to tear you apart."

"Yes, it's me," Hannah said calmly as she watched the boy. She saw him for what he truly was in that moment as he approached her. Weak. Scared. Secretive. None of the things Hannah was. And she was going to make sure he knew never to cross her again.

Hannah made a tsk-ing noise with her tongue as she shook her head. "Manners, boy, manners. Don't worry, your little secret is safe with me. For now." But she knew that she hit a sore spot with him and she was going to exploit it as much as she possibly could. This was power. Power over the boy who made a very poor decision to cross her back in the forest. She looked up at the boy as she smirked and tilted her head to the side as her wicked smirk grew even bigger. "You children of death have so many skeletons in your closet. I bet you didn't know that your little bitch had a secret she'd been hiding from you too, huh?"

Drew glared at the girl. He hadn't liked her before but this was just crazy. What was her game? What did he possibly have that she could be hoping to squeeze out of him and if it was some kind of blackmail why him of all people? Whatever those answers were he wasn't sure they mattered at this point. The situation wasn't a good one and she would soon learn that he did not like being controlled.

She was being patronizing and he liked that even less. He wished she would just get to the point already because he wasn't in the mood for her games. He was just about to say as much but something she said made him pause. Viv had a secret that she was keeping from him? He had been so concerned about his own secrets that he hadn't even thought to ask about Viv's secrets. He didn't see how it could matter to this situation but how could he not be curious? "What do you know?" He said trying to hide it. "You're a heartless bitch with delusions of grandeur. Give me my pills and go crawling back to the cold black hole you came out of."

"Oh trust me, I know a lot of things," Hannah said with a low chuckle. She eyed the boy before she cocked an eyebrow at him. He was angry and he was playing right into her trap. "Like, did you know your little bitch is supposed to be dead?" She watched him for a moment to see his reaction before she continued. "Yes. Dead. I would know because I did it. I drowned her in the lake and all and she was dead for like a good thirty minutes before daddy Hades exploited some loophole and next thing I know, she's back to life." She crossed her arms as she leaned up against the corner of a bed. "And I don't like people coming back from the dead at all. Dead people should stay dead. And I figured that's something you should know." She rattled his pill bottle again as she cocked an eyebrow at him. "I figured if you could do something about my little problem, then your secret is more than safe with me."

The girl continued on and what she said sounded almost as insane as she was. Viv had died and yet she was alive? How was that even possible? Why would Hades have sent her back? This didn't make any sense and perhaps the most outrageous thing of all was that Hannah was claiming to know all of this because she had been the one to kill Viv by drowning. "You're lying." He said in an uncertain tone of voice. "None of that makes any sense and even if you had attacked her maybe you were just too stupid to realize you hadn't finished the job."

He had said it to hurt her but did he really believe she would be that dumb? He found that he couldn't. So what did that mean for him? It didn't take long for him to find out the answer to that question however and when she did it left him more confused than ever. "You want me to kill Viv for you?" All at once Drew could feel his blood heating up. He closed the distance between them and slammed Hannah's shoulders back against the wall pinning her there. "Are you fucking crazy!? What'd she ever do you? This is wrong and I won't have any part of it!"

“Oh, you're just in denial,” she said with a smirk. “It's all true. You can ask her yourself if you want to, but then your bitch probably wouldn't want to bang you again.” This was all hilarious to her. Hannah was laughing as she the boy got angrier with her and her laughter only got louder as he decided to grab her shoulders and slam her against the wall. “Sorry sonny, you are apart of this,” she said as she smiled deviously at him. “That's what happened when you joined the Usurpers. Death. Murder. The whole shebang. Did you think this would be all so peaceful?” She threw her head back as she laughed again before looking at the boy. “The gods overstepped their powers bringing her back so she must die. And you must be the one to do it.” She then cocked an eyebrow at him before she whispered, “Or are you a scared little boy with no balls to do so. If you don't do it, your secret is no longer a secret.”

Was this what he had signed up for when he joined the Usurpers? He had signed up to get revenge on the gods, to bring down their tyrannical rule and as far as he could see this didn't help that goal along at all. Killing innocent girls, especially girls that he actually liked wasn't a part of the bill of goods he was sold. And yet she was right in a way. If what Hannah was saying was true then the gods had overstepped their bounds bringing Viv back and being a child of Thanatos Drew had some very firmly entrenched ideals about death being final.

"The gods have made their mistakes." He said distantly. "We are more than going to make them pay for it. This...this is wrong." He wasn't even sure himself anymore and the worst part was that she had him trapped. He guessed he could run again that was always a choice but where would he go this time? It wasn't like anyone could help him either. No, he had made his choices and now he had to deal with the consequences.

With a sigh Drew released the girl. What had he gotten himself into? "Give me my pills." He said bitterly as his voice took on a harder tone. He could have snapped the girl's neck at this point and yet he didn't. She had him this time. "I do this and you leave me be. If you don't I swear there will not be enough gods or monsters between the two of us that will be able to keep me from getting to you and ending you."

Hannah stared at the boy with a condescending smirk on her face. She had the boy right in the palm of her hand and he really didn't realize it. She would finally get the Usurpers up and going along with finally get back the boy who had questioned her all those months ago. She watched him before he finally agreed and her smirk grew a little bit bigger.

"Good," she said as she pushed herself off of the wall and straightened up. "I'll give you a month to do it... or maybe two... I'm feeling awfully generous today." She chuckled to herself as she handed the bottle to him. "But you have a deal. You do it and you won't see me ever again. If you don't, then your little secret might be spilled all over camp in a very big way."

“I’ll do the fucking job.” He said with a sneer. At his sides his hands clenched into fists a clear sign of his rapidly diminishing patience. Hannah had done what she came here to do. She had gotten under his skin, exposed his secret and left him with a terrible choice. He was going to have to think about that choice for some time but that didn’t mean that he had to do it while Hannah was still around and gloating over him like the crazy bitch she was.

Drew was done dealing with this girl, tired of her condescending remarks and her laughs at his expense. “If there’s nothing else get out. You’ve made your point and I’ve got planning to do.” He was going to have to figure out a way out of this. He didn’t know how yet but it was obvious to him that the way went through Viv. He just had to decide if this was something he would or could do.

Hannah won and he even knew that she had won. This was one part of her plan that was going through and she was going to make sure that the rest of them fell into place like the rest of them. But he had his pills and she had exactly what she came here to get. A smirk was quite clear on her face as she stepped away from him and towards the door. "Good, just remember: two months," she said as the wicked smirk was still on her face. Getting something done in the name of the Usurpers. This was what it was all about. With a parting glance at the boy, she finally took her leave and left him and his decisions and plans.
