Durie didn’t know what to do with himself, he was so utterly bored out of his mind. He had long ago finished the menial tasks assigned to him for the day and he wasn’t so keen on going to the most popular post-chores hangout for legionnaires; the training hall. Poor Durie was a spindly little thing, so after five years, he wasn’t holding out any hope that he would ever be decent with a weapon. Besides, even if he could properly lift a sword, it wasn’t like his brain would let him swing it. He cared too much about whatever would meet his blade. His heart was too big, it bled too much for a Roman Legionnaire half-way through his service. It was much easier to leave that to the others, surely, they could easily make of for his lack of skills. He just needed to make sure he stayed out of the way.
Instead, he was wandering through Camp, searching for either something to do or somewhere to be, just for the few hours before dinner started. His dark brown eyes flickered about, searching for any sign of his mirror image, his beloved identical twin brother Aubin. The two of them had a complicated relationship, to say the least – always jumping between being able to work together as the Janus twins and wanting to rip each other’s throats out because they were such polar opposites who rarely, if ever, got along. This dynamic still somehow surprised people, though that was probably due to the fact that many of them seemed to expect the boys to have something in common because of their shared DNA.
No, never. Durie bitterly thought. (Clearly, his mind was set to “Hate Aubin” mode.) He’s a jack---. There’s nothing that we have in common. The only outwardly trace of his vitriol-filled thoughts came in the form of a scowl scrawled across his face. He didn’t know what he was going to do, but whatever it was, it had to be somewhere Aubin wouldn’t be. Glancing around him, the most obvious place would be the Principia. He knew that last night Aubin decided to get hammered, again, so there was no way he's showing his face where the Praetor’s frequented. His brother may not be the brightest bulb, but he was no fool. Plus there was a chance that someone there would need an extra-hand, giving him something to do for a few hours. If not, there were a few good places to sit like the edge of the fountain, which he beelined for and was currently making himself comfortable. A little R&R could definitely do this boy some good for now, with his sibling rivalry, it was something he certainly needed.
