“You haven’t seen me when I just finished an invention.” Genie said with a bit of embarrassment. If there was one thing she was proud of it was her machines and she could get a little bragy when it came to talking about them sometimes. Usually she was pretty harmless in that regard but she did hope that she wouldn’t embarrass herself in front of Lydia when the time finally game to unveil the strawberry picker. She could laugh about it now though and she did as she said. “Maybe when you’ll know why my momma warned me.”
The assessment seemed to be spot on at least in Lydia’s eyes. “Nah I don’t think I know all that much when it comes to head stuff. I just like talking to people. They’re kind of like machines you know? Really complicated and sometimes you’ve got to dig down to find what really makes em tick. It’s not so hard with you though.” Genie watched Lydia from where she sat and even got a little embarrassed when the girl followed her statements to their logical conclusion but Genie didn’t try to hide it this time. By the look of things Lydia liked her too. “Yeah. I was hoping you would get that. I really like spending time with you.

Genie chuckled. "Yeah but I can be just as nice when you win too silly." Her grin grew wider. She wouldd definitely like to play some other games with Lydia but she really didn't mind losing if there was a good challenge. "Besides my mom always said winning all the time 'll give you a big head. You would spoil me if you just let me win." Granted being spoiled by Lydia might not be a bad thing but Genie liked to do a little spoiling herself every once in a while.
"Hmm...what can I say about Lydia." She said in a thoughtful tone. She could tell Lydia was interested in hearing what she had come up with but to drag the anticipation out a little longer Genie set forward on her elbows and pretended to think for a moment before finally speaking again. "Well, I think you're really smart. You'd have to be to think about all that psychology stuff all day. You're also responsible but in a good way because you're never so serious that you're afraid of a little bending of the rules. I think it's really cute when I make you laugh because I like your giggle. Oh and you don't blow me off when I start nerding out over my machines which makes me happy too so let's say patient?" There was more but that would be enough for now. She really liked Lydia and she thought that message got across.

“Don’t worry. I’m not so good at all games.” Genie said with a chuckle. “And I don’t have to win all the time. I just liked having fun with you and playing Monopoly is fun even if I did smoke ya.” At this she reached over and playfully pushed the girl’s shoulder. There were more important things in life than winning all the time. Cute Dionysus girls were one of those things in Genie’s book and she wouldn’t begrudge Lydia her revenge in other board games especially if those games resulted in some interesting outcomes. “I can think of a few games I wouldn’t mind losing at either. Just so you know.”
Lydia wasn’t finished with her analysis though and Genie set back and listened with interest. “Yeah machines and blueprints have just always made since ya know? The same thing goes with my inventions. Sometimes an idea just pops in my head and then I wonder how I never thought of it before.” Maybe there was something to all this psychoscienceologicalism stuff. Genie didn’t understand it but it seemed to work. “I think I learned some stuff about you too Lydia. I was already getting a pretty good idea though so I’m not sure how much of it was just the game but I think I've got a little analysis of my own.”

"Yeah," Genie said as she mocked fanning herself with the paper money fan. "I couldn't leave you out on the streets or anything like that. It would be much better to bring you back to one of my hotels and pamper you." She watched as Lydia put the game away and thought about how much fun they had been having. How long hard she been over at the Dionysus cabin anyways? Monopoly wasn't exactly a short game and it could have been a few hours at this point. Still, Genie didn't think she minded that much. She would have just been back at the forge otherwise after all.
She giggled a little at Lydia's assessment of her. She didn't really think of herself like that but being a planner wasn't so bad was it? "That's good. I'd hate to scare you off so soon. I kinda like you." She smirked a little as she went to help Lydia with her efforts. "You really think I'm good at planning stuff? Is that what you got from studying me?"

The game was finally over. Lydia was conceding defeat. Genie had become the sole property tycoon of Monopoly land. Now if only Monopoly money was real money but that was life she supposed. Genie giggled and spread a handful of Monopoly bills out in her hand like a fan. "I told you I was playing to win." She said as she glance at the girl over the curve of her money fan. "Don't worry though. I won't be too hard on you. I like you staying in my hotels too much."
Genie was delighted she had won but more importantly she was delighted at how much fun she had. She knew Lydia was probably examining her every move but the funny thing was she didn't really mind. In fact she was kind of curious what Lydia was thinking right now after their big game night. "So, what do you think about me based off of my game playing skills? I didn't scare you away did I?"

Genie didn't know if it was possible to truly be 'good' at Monopoly. The game itself primarily revolved around a bit of luck. You were mostly at the mercy of dice with where you landed and what pieces of property you could acquire. Still, there were strategies one could employee and as far as the game of Monopoly went Genie was fairly sure she had those strategies down to a science. As the Hephaestus girl understood it the game was all a balancing act. You had to make sure you had enough money to pay the bills when you landed on someone else's place but you had to buy property in order to get money. The key, she had found, was making sure that you didn't overextend yourself. Don't blow all your money on every piece of property you see and force your competition to buy the ones you didn't want. It was a strategy that had allowed her to gain control of the very lucrative green and yellow corner of the game board and Genie was making bank. Now she was going in for the kill. “And that’s going to be my third hotel. I think you’re going to have a very nice stay when you come back around to this side of the board.” She grinned playfully at the girl across from her as she placed the tiny plastic hotel on the board. “And now I think it’s your turn. Let’s see if your luck holds out.”

At least Lydia was honest about wanting to test her theories out on her. Genie supposed that wasn’t really bad. The girl liked psychology after all and it was only natural to examine someone you were interested in. Was she a good psychological match for Lydia? Was that even a thing? There was only one way to find out and if it involved spending some more time alone with the girl then that was alright with her.
“Guess I’ll have to be on my best behavior then.” Genie smirked at the girl. “I warn you though I play to win.” She gave Lydia a playful wink letting her know that this was going to be fun. It would be fun to find out what Lydia thought of her but she might try to hold it back from her. Genie really didn’t mind either way but she might have to try some persuasion if the Dionysus girl started holding back. For now though she was anxious to get started. “Yeah, come on. I want to see how good you really are at Monopoly.”

Reformed or not Genie was happy Lydia liked her. The girl was smart, pretty and fun to be around. Those were a lot of good things and Genie didn't think she could be blamed for wanting to reform just a little at least from her strawberry nabbing. If Lydia started bringing her some this would have been a done deal but there was still time to figure all that out.
As for their plans for the rest of the evening Lydia's boardgame idea sounded perfect. The rest of the ipods could wait, the strawberry picker could wait. Right now she wanted to see if Lydia's theory about Monopoly was true. "Are you trying to use some psychology to poke around in my brain?" She said teasingly. Truthfully she wouldn't mind Lydia poking around in a few other places but for now she didn't mind learning a little more about the girl over a friendly game. "But yeahe Monopoly sounds great. You've got to tell me what you find out about me though." She grinned real big and twirled a strand of her hair around her finger. "So to your cabin them?"

Meal time was a good time in Genie’s book. It was a time to eat and socialize with your siblings and just take a break from all the training and the work. Plus you got to eat and that was something Genie enjoyed too. The Hephaestus girl wasn’t the best cook in the world. She had tried to make a cake once and it ended up being more protein than anything sweet. Needless to say it was an experience that she would rather forget and when she could get food prepared for her that was never a bad thing.
At the moment though Genie was just about done with all that. She had done the socializing and eating thing and now she was just sitting around playing with one of her latest creations. It was a small automaton turtle that she had been working on for a while now. It wasn’t really much to look at but it was a fun pet to play with as was the case with many of her creations. This one she had built with a few special features that she was testing out now while she waited for dinner time to be over. Several of her siblings were gathered around watching as well but for the most part it was a pretty normal night.
So involved in what she was doing Genie didn’t really notice the new girl enter. Normally it would have been a bigger deal as a new unclaimed camper meant a potential brother or sister which was always fun but unfortunately unclaimed also meant they would be sitting at the Hermes table and it was kind of hard to meet new people when everyone was segregated. Still, it didn’t take long for their quiet night to suddenly become a little more exciting.
Genie was watching the little turtle, she had named it Shellder because she thought that was cute, spin on its back when it happened. Everyone got suddenly quiet and Genie felt an elbow jab into her ribs making her look up sharply. “Huh? Ooooooooooh...” It didn’t take her eyes long to find the big glowing trident sitting above the new girl’s head. The gods definitely knew how to make a show and it sure changed the atmosphere of the mess hall in an instant.
Now Genie had been at camp a minute or two and had seen plenty of claimings but she always thought it was cool. Of course it was obvious that the new girl wasn’t going to be joining them at the Hephaestus cabin, she was a big three kid no less, but that didn’t really make a difference. Genie stared at the girl in awe as the trident disappeared leaving by an eerie silence. A silence that was broken as Shellder shot up a little multi colored firework that popped and fizzled in the air about their heads. That was enough to break the spell and Genie immediately gave the girl a big grin. “Congratulations! You’re a Poseidon kid!”

This was great. Genie certainly hadn’t expected things to take this turn and yet here she was with an amazing girl who really liked her. Asking her out hadn’t even been as hard as she thought it would be either. It just kind of happened. All in all she couldn’t have been happier and it showed on her face. “Well you might have a reformed strawberry thief on your hands before too long.” She said with a slight blush. “I’ve found that you can be pretty persuasive.”
The Hephaestus girl’s mind was overloaded with possibilities as Lydia turned towards to iPod. She was definitely going to have to think about the next step for them but for now she was just interested in enjoying this moment a little longer. “We could. The music is nice and my dance partner is better.” She smiled at her again thinking that she could probably do this all night so long as Lydia was interested but Lydia was the important component here not the dancing. “We could do something else if you wanted though. Really it’s just fun getting to know you.”

What was she doing? Was she crazy? There was no way, no way, that this would work and yet, somehow Lydia's face lit up and she began to giggle. Genie supposed Lydia could have been laughing at her but that's not what it sounded like. Instead, it sounded like happy giggles and sure enough they were. Still, Genie could hardly believe it. "Really? You like me too?" She asked excitedly.she had been holding her feelings in and now they threatened to come rushing out so to contain her excitement she did the only thing she could think to do at the moment and wrapped Lydia up in a big hug.
"Oh Lydia that's great. I wanted to tell you before so bad but I didn't know what you'd say. Now, to know you feel the same way..." She gave the girl a quick squeeze and then stood back from her at arms length still smiling the biggest absolutely brightest smile she could. She didn't know how this moment could have gotten any better. Lydia was an awesome girl and now she knew that Genie liked her. All she had to do now was make sure she didn't mess things up somehow. "Thanks Lydia. You really are the best. I guess good things happen in forges huh?"

Genie's breath caught a little as Lydia said that she thought she'd make a cute dance partner. She didn't know about all that but she was glad Lydia seemed to think of her in that way that and more importantly she didn't have her eyes on anyone else. Did that mean that it was okay for her to make the next move? There was only one real way to find out and Genie guessed it was time for a gut check. If Lydia was brave enough to admit that then Genie had to be brave and take a chance too even though she didn't know where it would lead.
"Yeah I guess you're right about there being weirder places. Still, next time you get to pick the location." Genie took a moment to prepare herself for what she was about to do. This was it and she hoped Lydia would understand but she just had to know and yeah she could do this. "Hey uh Lydia." Genie said never letting her warm, hopeful smile die away. "I uh kind of like you I think. I mean I have fun talking to you and stuff and you're funny and cute and pretty nice too. I mean I guess what I'm really trying to say is would you like to go out with me? Like really go out with me? Gosh I really hope I'm not messing this up. I'm not am I?"

Genie wasn't really sure what to think about all that. The dancing they were doing now seemed perfectly fine to her and Lydia's music selections were great. We're the Dionysus parties really so wild and crazy? She guessed she would just have to take Lydia's words for it and hope for more of these private parties instead. Luckily she thought she could be more than satisfied with that. Now if she could only get up the nerve to really slow dance with her or something nice like that.
"Well I'd want you for a dance partner for sure. Ya know, if you didn't have anyone in mind already that is." She smiled hoping that maybe Lydia didn't have anyone in mind. It would make things easier if Lydia didn't have her eye on anyone yet. She liked Lydia but would have felt bad trying to move in if there was someone else in the picture and it was better to find out now if there was any chance at all or not. "This is definitely nicer though. Just two people and good music. Kind of a strange place for a dance party though I guess."

"Definitely." Genie said as she caught Lydia's wink. "That'd be a party I would like to come to." Granted she would have liked to attend any party that Lydia was a part of but if it had music like this she might not even mind getting out on the dance floor. Maybe the Dionysus girl would invite her to one of those parties now or maybe they would keep meeting up like this. Genie didn’t really care at this point so long as she got to spend time with the girl.
Genie reached out to take Lydia’s hand and dance with her a little. It wasn’t anything too fancy, certainly nothing of the bump and grind nature, but it seemed like the right thing to do. Plus standing there and swinging their arms around like goofs was the most fun she had in a while not to mention that Lydia looked really cute in her dress. She was about to say as much but the song changed and instead of something fun and poppy a slower more intimate song came on. Genie smiled and slowed not really sure if they should continue or not. It was still a good song but probably something that couples would dance to if they were in a group. Instead of that Genie just slowly rocked from side to side. “That was fun. Bet everyone is chasing after you as their dance partner when the parties come around.”

The music was good but having a dance partner was better. Genie didn't know if this was going to be a good idea or not but she wanted to do something with Lydia besides just show her the forge. She wanted to make it a little more like a real date that they both could enjoy and as Lydia seemed to jump right in with her she thought that she had made the right choice. This was fun and dates were supposed to be fun and if she got to dance with a cute girl that she liked who cared if they had no rhythm between them?
"Looks like we've got something in common. I really like this playlist too." Genie grinned at the other girl and didn't fail to notice just how cute Lydia looked dancing there and having a good time. She really was gorgeous and probably way out of Genie's league but Lydia didn't seem to put any value in any of that stuff. At least Genie hoped she didn't. "Maybe your siblings should let you pick the music more often and let me pick the ipods to repair."
