Genie chuckled at the thought of the two of them racing around the tracks tossing oil slicks and road spikes behind them as they raced towards the finish line like a demi god version of Mario Kart. It would be perfect and more than worth it if they could bring home the trophy for their cabin. "We'll be the unstoppable Hephaestus sisters." She said cheerfully and then added. "This is going to be so much fun! The next time I head out to do some work you are definitely coming along."
They would need to get some tools for Hailey though. She was a daughter of Hephaestus and it would be a down right disgrace to old pops if she let her sister go without tools. They had to fix this and that meant a shopping trip was in order. "Maybe we could get permission from Chrion to head to the hardware store. That's about the closest thing I get to going on a great and epic quest so it seems like a pretty good reason to me. What do you say Hailey?"

"That would be great." Genie said with one of her big grins. "I was hoping I could get someone to try it out with me. An awesome chariot isn't much good if no one ever rides in it and if everything goes well we can use it the next time we go up against the rest of the cabins in the races." She paused long enough to chuckle and then continued. "See? This is why is good to have you around again Hailey. You really have been missed."
But then talk turned back to her tools and that was all it took to set Genie off again. At the mention of her tools being the prettiest the girl blushed a little getting somewhat embarrassed. "Oh now I don't know if I would go so far as to say something like that. I mean you can't hardly beat anything in chrome. They are mine though and they're pretty special to me." Genie paused for a moment to think wondering if anything had been done with Hailey's tools. She supposed the boys could have split them up but she couldn't remember. In any case she was sure they could get her some more if they needed them. "Well I don't rightly know if anything has been done with them or not but if they aren't there I could always take you shipping for some new ones if you want. That way we could set you up real nice."

It seemed to take Hailey a moment to really get situated in her surroundings when they finally made it back to her bedroom. That wasn’t too surprising. Genie knew change was hard and couldn’t imagine coming back to a place you had lived in after being gone for so long. That being the case she let her sister have all the time she needed and when she finally spoke up again Genie thought that she sounded better, like she was starting to get used to the idea of being back.
“Oh you totally should. The chariot I’ve been working on is way cool. It’s got retractable spikes and an oil slick dispenser and even a self-propulsion unit and gyrobalanacer that can keep it going even if the horses get away from us.” Genie grinned broadly. She always got excited when she got to talk about her projects but she didn’t want to overload Hailey with too much information when she had just shown back up. “Let’s just say it’s only the most awesome chariot ever so you should come by and we can test it out sometime.” Genie chuckled and draped an arm over Hailey’s shoulders. “You’ll probably want to just get back into the swing of things too. If you need some tools are something you could borrow mine. They’re the only set in the forge that are pink.”

“Those are both pretty good too.” Genie said thoughtfully. “Sounds like we are going to need a lot of alligators.” This thought made her giggle as she figured that the two of them could go on discussing alligator names for a while. It wouldn’t do very good to get her hopes up though. Chiron would probably limit them on the number of alligators they could keep and it was no use having a lot of alligator names if you only had a few alligators.
Genie led them towards Hailey’s room figuring the girl might want to see it again after so long. As she did she continued with the small talk. “Oh I’ve been good. Things tend to stay pretty much the same for me. I’ve been working at the forge a lot lately trying to finish up a new chariot design, even strung up a hammock in case I wanted to take a nap. You should come by and see sometime. I know it’s been a while since you’ve been able to get your hands dirty in the forge and for me there’s nothing that gets me fixed up faster than banging away at some metal.”

’Oh dear.’ Genie thought as soon as the second boy showed up and she heard the first boy’s reaction. This wouldn’t do at all. These two should be having fun and playing together not getting mad because one is stealing the spot light. The Hephaestus girl didn’t know if she could fix this or not but by the gods she was going try. There was no reason they all couldn’t play with the paint and have a good time. If nothing else they could completely colorfy the arts building and who wouldn’t have fun with that?
Thinking for a moment Genie finally came up with an idea. She went over to sit down between the two boys wearing a delighted grin on her face. “We’ve got so much paint why don’t we see who can make the biggest and bestest painting?” She asked happily. She could tell that the smallest boy was content to do his own thing. She wasn't really sure about the blonde boy though , he just seemed like he wanted to make a mess. Both were fine in Genie's opinion she just wanted to play with the boys but maybe if they all had their own space they could make this work and have some fun. If not they might run into problems.

The whole Harley Quinn reference went right over Genie's head. As usual her brain was focused on machines with the occasional thought of alligators sometimes combining the two to consider machine-alligators as she was sure that would be fun too. She chuckled. "I was thinking more along the lines of Davidson but Quinn works well too. Anyways it wouldn't be a proper alligator moat without more than one alligator."
Genie led her sister towards the cabin wondering why Hailey seemed so skittish all of a sudden. Maybe she had some harrowing experience that she wasn't ready to talk about yet. That was fine but Genie hoped she would consider some girl talk later. She had been the only girl in a cabin full of boys for a while now and there were just some things the boys didn't understand at all. "I think we'll be the only two unless somebody comes home early. Everyone was at the forge or doing their own thing the last time I saw them.”

“Of course silly. You’re only our sister and everything. Wouldn’t be very proper of us to kick you out on the street just because you wanted to go be a hunter and have all kinds of adventures and stuff. Besides, dad would probably get mad at us if we did.” Seeing that Hailey was getting a little shaken up again Genie wrapped her arm around her so nobody would see. She didn’t know what her sister had been through but obviously it had been a lot and there was no reason to have everyone standing around gawking at the crying Hephaestus girl.
Genie listened and laughed at Hailey’s alligator name. “I’d name at least one Harley.” She thought about this for a moment and then nodded in confirmation. “Yep that’s a right fine name for my alligator.” Genie was already making calculations and running figures in her mind as she thought about how to make things work. “We’d have to make it deep enough, maybe build some kind of digging machine but I think it could be done. Want to talk about it inside and then we can get you settled in and everything? I still want to hear about everything you’ve been up to recently.”

Genie was out and about today. She had been cooped up in the forges for practically a week working on a major project and now it was finally time for a much deserve break around camp. She hadn’t minded the work of course. In fact she had even strung up a hammock by her forge just so that it could be a little home away from home when she was working on a project but even Genie got a little stir crazy sometimes. She needed some social interaction and there was no better way to do that than to explore the camp for a bit.
She hadn't gone far when her walking eventually led her by the arts building. She had never been much good at art herself, metal and chrome were more her thing, but that didn't mean she didn't like it. To the contrary she thought painting was super fun and was even the only Hephaestus kid to decorate the door to her room with colorful but badly painted flowers. Still, it had been a while since she had tried her hand at it and by the sounds of commotion coming from inside that sounded like where the party was. That being the case Genie decided to stop in to see what was going on.
What she found surprised her. A cute little boy all by himself and covered in paint. The sight made Genie grin and after a minute of watching him she couldn't resist stepping inside to join him. "Hey there." She said cheerfully. "Looks like you're having fun. Do you think I could paint with you?"

It was really good to see Hailey again and whether she suspected a warm reception or not Genie had no problem giving it. If she would have known she would have made a cake or something but considering her lack of cooking skills that may have ended up being a blessing in disguise. Granted that might not stop her from making one but for now at least they needed to get Hailey settled back into the cabin now that she was finally home again.
“Well listen, don’t you worry about them right now. You’ve always got a place here. I think we’ve any still got your room too though we probably need to clean it up some.” Genie thought about this for a moment and then nodded to herself. “We probably had a few automatons that could get everything straight for ya.”
Genie grinned broadly in of those smiles that seemed to brighten the world around her as she actually considered the prospect of a making a crocodile moat. “That would be pretty neat…” She said distractedly. She wasn’t sure if Hailey was being serious of not but building something as cool as a moat was a pretty good project if she was going to be living at the Hephaestus cabin again. “I say we do it but can we name the alligators when we put them in?”

Genie squealed happily and wrapped her sister up in a hug again before finally releasing her and giving her some relief. "Hey, don't cry this was always your home. What'd you think that we'd forget about you?" The idea was preposterous. Genie didn't forget about family. She didn't know about the boys but she was sure they would agree and if they didn't she would just whack them on the back of the head with a wrench or something. Being the oldest sister to everyone she had that right.
"What about the hunters and everything? Won't they be upset with you? Are we going to have to put up defenses around the cabin?" This could get pretty ugly if they didn't prepare properly but if her sister wanted to stay the hunters definitely wouldn't be getting her back without a fight. "I wouldn't worry about it that much. We'll make sure to keep you safe."

Genie could hardly believe what she was seeing even when she had Hailey in her arms. Here was a sister who had run off to join the hunters and then essentially disappeared. She knew that the hunters were very busy of course and that Artemis kept many of them with her for long periods of time but it would have been nice to see her sister every now and then. Maybe that's what this was. In any case it was all very exciting and Genie was happy to final be seeing her sister again.
That being said it took a minute for Hailey's words to fully sink in. "Wait just a second..." Genie said as she held her sister out at arm’s length. "Back? Like back, back. Like back at our cabin back, back?" The girl stared at Hailey incredulously. She hadn't known about the boy or the breaking of vows or the transformation or anything and hunters didn't look back, did they? "You mean you're really coming back to stay with us? For good?"

As Genie squinted and the girl walking towards their cabin came into focus she found that she could hardly believe her eyes. It had been a long time, a very, very long time, but she knew that she recognized the person coming toward her. It had been what, two, maybe closer to three years, but you didn't forget family, at least Genie didn't. She stopped what she was doing and took a longer look just to be sure but there was no need. How could she forget her sister?
"Hailey?" She said a little unbelievingly as she got to her feet. "Hailey!" She repeated this time accepting what was in front of her and letting her excitement show. That was all it took. Genie dropped the small automaton she had been working on and ran to meet welcome home a sister that she thought she had lost. "Hailey it is you!" Genie said as she reached the girl and wrapped her up in a hug. "You're back. Like really back. We've missed you!"

Genie set on the front porch of the Hephaestus cabin fiddling with a small clockwork gadget she had been working on all day and humming to herself softly. Almost absently she flipped the gadget, which looked like a small mechanical spider, all around turning screws and spinning gears with distracted but clearly methodical movements In fact, the girl didn't seem to be paying attention to what she was doing at all and yet she definitely seemed to have some purpose to all the tweaks and adjustments she was performing. One thing that Genie wasn't distracted from however were all the many campers walking by as she worked. In actuality that was the whole reason she was out here. If there was one thing Genie loved to do it was people watch. It was fun to watch the other campers go about their normal lives. The cute couples on their way to dates, the occasional blunders when somebody wasn't watching where they were going, it was all so interesting and even though it might seem odd it helped her work. She supposed it was pretty cool that she could actually get things accomplished when she wasn't really focusing on her work but she was glad she could. Genie liked to socialize, she liked to meet new people and it gave her a chance to see things that a lot of people missed for example, the person that was walking up to their cabin right now. Genie squinted her eyes as the person approached but she didn't think she was mistaken and if she was right it was going to be someone she hadn't seen in a long time. Hailey Nichols |

Positive and friendly Genie is a confident and upbeat girl who is hard to get down. She is a top notch mechanic and engineer and seems to carry herself with a natural flair around the forge and workshop. She has a tendency to think of things in mechanical terms lending her to talk in an over complicated jumble of technobabble sometimes but if you are looking for someone who is always going to have a smile for you and pick you up then look no further than this girl.
Genie is definitely a lover and not a fighter. While a lot of demi gods can jump right into a fight and be fine she hates the sight of blood and is almost completely lost even when it comes to defending herself. She would much rather sit back and build weapons and armor than actually use them. As such she doesn't really get involved in a lot of battles but she can fix and make just about anything and that has helped her find a pretty comfortable existence for herself at camp.

Born in the small town of Gurdon, AK Genie’s early years were spent at the town’s small auto repair garage / junk yard where she lived with her mom Judy. As the only mechanic in a small town it was only natural for Genie’s mom to stay busy. As such for most of her childhood years Genie was right there beside her mom through just about everything. When she got old enough to help she did and as a child of Hephaestus she seemed to have a natural talent for it.
Genie’s mom taught her practically everything that she knew from how to change oil to how to rebuild an engine block and the young demi god loved every minute of it. For many years it was like that, just Genie and her mom and that was find. She was a simple girl and she enjoyed her simple life.
Things stayed the same until about the time she was 10 at which point an army officer passing through the area broke down and had his vehicle repaired by Genie’s mom. The two started a relationship and before long the girl had a new step dad and was being carted around the country as a military kid. This changed Genie’s simple little life and in many ways she wasn’t ready for it so when an opportunity presented itself when she was 13 she ran away from home.
Genie had never really been a fighter so running away was perhaps not the best solution for her. She wasn’t prepared for the monsters that she eventually ran into and would have died like so many demi gods before her but she was luckily found by a satyr group that saved her just in the nick of time. The satyrs helped her back to camp half blood and there she was finally claimed by her father and found out why she was so good at what she did.
She has been at camp for about six years now and it has proved to be the safest place for the girl. She still hadn't gotten over her fear of fighting or blood shed but she has at least found a job to do inventing things and making weapons and armor for those demi gods who can fight. That is just fine with Genie. She had always been the most at home when she is in a shop and at camp half blood there is a constant stream of things to fix. It is a situation she had grown quite used to.
