Maybe he was indeed interrupting the guy, but he didn't seem to mind. Or at least let on that John was interrupting him based on his reply. John kept his hands as his pockets as he shrugged his shoulders. "Nothing much, man," he said in response. He glanced around for a moment before he added. "Nice day, isn't it?" He really didn't expect the guy to respond to him. It was just awkward small talk. Maybe they could make it past it to something deeper. Or maybe it would stay small talk forever.
But then the guy apparently recognized him. But not in a not so good way. John laughed as he shook his head a bit. "Yeah. I would be the one. I'm John by the way," he said as he took one of his hands out of his pockets and extended it to the guy as he walked closer towards him.

John hadn’t really been paying attention as he approached the gazebo that he wasn’t the only person in the strawberry fields. He kept walking with his hands in his pockets as he approached. He wasn’t really sure what he was doing out here, but out here seemed like only of the only familiar places in camp. But as he got closer, he heard someone. They weren’t talking, but he could hear the pages of a book being flipped. He paused right outside of the gazebo to see a boy with his nose in a book.
John thought about turning away before his presence was noticed. For all he knew, he was interrupting the boy. But at the same time, John wanted to have another face to know around camp. So he stood there awkwardly for a moment or two before he cleared his voice. “Um… hi?”

Camp... camp never changed despite how many times John had come and gone from it. The only thing that really changed was the people. Siblings, crushes, bed mates... all of them came and gone, so there were rarely few friendly faces around here. Except maybe Charlotte, but considering how many times he'd broken her heart, she probably didn't want to see his face again once the rumors got back to her that he was back in camp. But Dawn... he wondered if Dawn was still around.
John had a lot of time to let his mind wonder as he wandered through the strawberry fields. The gazebo was still there, which he remembered was a favorite spot of Dawn's. And how he would tend the strawberry rows so many times whenever he wasn't cabin leader. He sighed to himself as he shook his head and kicked at the dirt a bit. The cabin leader position was vacant, but he doubt any of his siblings, let alone Chiron, would allow him back into power. He kept walking among the strawberry fields as he kept reminiscing about the good ole days.
