The actual heat of the flame was something Jaime wasn't expecting. He knew fire, he was used to it, and it never burned. This flame, the one in mess hall, was actually hot. There was something about it that made it so but it did not scare him, that this flame could actually hurt him. In fact...it was almost intriguing. Almost. It was probably the first time he had been in the mess hall. He had made no attempt to scrape any of his food into the flame like he had seen from a distance whenever he ate away from the group of people. He had no offering he wanted to give to his father or the rest of the gods. They had taken enough.
Instead, he walked away from the mysterious hearth and stepped up onto the closest bench, parking it down on top of the table to stare back at the flame. Some of his thoughts wandered away from him as he ate one of the meals he had eaten in the past. He couldn't remember the name of the meal, just what it looked like. Sure enough, he had gotten a hold of it somehow. But...just as soon as he had started eating he had stopped. The son of Hephaestus had lost his appetite. With a small sigh, he set the plate down on the table and pushed it a couple feet away.
He had no weapon on him beside his spear, the necklace never left his neck. A black hoodie had been zipped up over his chest and traditional white tee, hood up over his head. Blue jeans had remained spotless, even as he sat down on the somehow clean table. He had wondered briefly how the table had remained so clean after everything he saw happen each night at the table. Still...
"An interesting day." He whispered to himself.

Stars are so beautiful. Thats all Dru could think about. She had made the mistake of drinking coffee at dinner and now she could sleep no matter how much she tried. Many of her siblings were up too but they just sulkted around, hidding in shadows and some sneaking out of camp via shadow travel. She being her typical Dru self had another plan. One Fire, following her with his smokey tail and chasing every little bug he could find, a tablet full of old war movies and all that was left was a order of hot chocolate and crackers from the mess hall.
Quiet nights always freaked her out, like she would turn around and boom there would be a harpey there waiting to eat her face but instead the only other soul she saw was when she got to the mess hall she saw a guy sitting at a table. She looked over, she knew the face but no name to match to it. She smiled a little as she watched a mug will with hot chocolate and looked back at him. He hadn't moved. Maybe he didn't hear or see her come in. It would make sense, Hades table was on the other side of the mess hall. She walked over to him, passing the hearth on the way, dropping a few marshmellows in before pouring the rest in her hot drink. The hearth always was so intresting for her. It was just any other fire but she could feel it, it felt different, powerful. It made sense though considering it was hesitas.
"You ar ebeing wastefull you know" Dru said, walking over to the guy and leaning on the table, taking a sip of her drink. She could see fire trying to play with the sparks flying off the hearth. Werid little ghost fox. Well, not any werider then that statement. "You really should eat your food." She Said, a small smile on her face. Black hoodie and a glum look on his face, you would have thought he was her sibling. "I'm Dru, and you are?"

Some part of him had noticed her, but he had ignored it. Stupidly, he had ignored it. He shouldn't have. His mind finally did register her presence when she walked by the hearth, tossing something into the flame. He blinked and straightened up, his eyes traveling away from the flame to her. The warmth and light of the flame danced across his face as he watched her walk over to him and lean against the table, beside him. The sound of sparks shooting from the flame echoed in his ears as he stared at her and listened to her speak. He didn't bother replying until her second sentence though.
"I've lost my appetite for food." He whispered under his breath, and pushed a smile onto his face when she smiled too. He lost his appetite far too often whenever he ate some of the meals he had experienced in his past. "You're right, I shouldn't be wasteful." He quietly picked up the plate and flicked it at the flame, tossing a majority of it in the fire. The gods didn't deserve the food but he could care less at the moment. The rest of the food stuck to his plate as he carelessly set it back down on the table, his attention turning right back to her.
"James." His smile widened slightly and he softened his eyes further. He didn't want to be glaring around, especially not with anyone around him. "I am thirsty though," He glanced down at her mug and chuckled lightly. "you got a second mug?" He raised an eyebrow at her and playfully bumped his shoulder against hers. After maintaining eye contact with her for a moment, his eyes dropped to the tablet she had and he smiled. "What do you got there?"

Dru watched him carefully as he dumped pretty much all of his food into the flames, it glowing and surging up with the addition. Flames were always something else, so beautiful and deadly her grandmother would say during bonfires or in winter at the fire place. She knew Dru had connections to fire, but fire and hell fire were two very different things. Normal fire was softer and more beautiful, hell fire was intense and unforgiving.
She turned and looked back at James now, he was smiling which made him glow slightly in the fire light. She laughed a little when he asked if she had another glass and she looked over at the table behind her, a stack neatly in the middle of the table. Ares' table. She smirked and grab one and handed it to him "Well now i do" She said laughing under her breath and taking another sip of her hot drink. "The best drink ever" she said teasingly "Hot chocolate." She said before taking another sip.
"So Sir James." She said jokingly "What brings you to this lovely fire this late at night?" She noticed Fire was back floating around, sorta glaring at her. Oh he was being jealous and suspicious of every guy she talked to. Weird little fox. Next to her thigh she snapped her fingers and a small ball of hell fire formed next to the fox, catching his attention before starting to roam around the mess hall, followed by a small fox trying to catch it's new toy.

He watched quietly as the flame glowed and surged with power, and yet again he wondered why this one might actually be able to burn him. "That's definitely warm." He commented on the flame before his attention was turned back to her when she pulled out another cup of hot chocolate and handed it to him. With a small laugh, he took the cup from her small hands and tilted the drink to look at it before he took a sip of the cocoa. He could have argued her statement on the hot chocolate being the best drink ever. He had tried a couple back in Sparta that could go up against that, but he didn't. It was actually rather good.
So he lifted the cup in a sort of agreement. She did surprise him when she addressed him as Sir James. Another smile cracked on his face when she addressed him as such. "At first?" An eyebrow rose at her question before he lowered the mug from his lips and started to speak when a ball of hellfire appeared and danced off before his eyes. "Um..." He tried before he shook it off and turned to look at her again. "I had come out here to eat but...well that didn't go well for me." He nodded towards the plate he had emptied into the flame.
"How about you?" He asked back. A hand lifted up to slowly lower the hood from his head so he could look at her a little easier, and so she could do the same with him. "Did you just come out here for the hot chocolate?" He smirked at her as his hands slowly closed around his own warm cup. "Or did you have something else in mind?" He finished with another question, before he raised the cup to sip lightly at the hot chocolate again. The liquid was quickly cooling in the night.

Dru nodded at his responce before noticing his looking dumbstuck at her ball of hellfire. "Oh sorry about that its just..well..you is its.. I better jsut show you." She said, sitting down across from him before bringing it on top of the table, fire close behind. "Fire, vide." She said, trying to get the little fox to show itself. He was being stubbern as ever though and didn't want to. "vide Fire, vide." Finally after a small glaring contest the she petted the foxes head and watched as he became more solid in her eyes, tho probably just enough so James could see him. He had to draw the power from Dru inorder to do so but it was enough to be seen. "This Fire, he is a slightly dead fox who just so happens to like to stalk me" She said messingly, seeing his tail flame up slightly in aggitation before he went back to casing his ball.
"But as me" she said trying to get the subject off her dead fox with a flaming tail as a pet thing going on, "Can't sleep so I was going to watch some movies and naturally hot chocolate is needed for any sucessful movie and sadly back in the Hades cabin we dont have a hot chocolate machine next to our Hello Kitty Microwave." She said jokingly. She really felt like joking around tonight, or maybe it was just the hot chocolate or coffee or night sky but she was extra happy tonight.

Sorry? He raised an eyebrow as she apologized for...Well she didn't say what she apologized for. So he watched as she pulled the hellfire up onto the table and let it stand then. Then she spoke to the ball of hellfire. Vide? He wondered as she repeated the word. He watched, patiently as she reached out and seemed to pet the air. Insanity, perhaps? He thought to himself before the image of a small fox began to appear before him. He froze. Not in fear, more in surprise. The hellfire? A dead fox? She wasn't insane, She was just a daughter to Hades.
"Oh." He stated simply before she pulled the conversation back to her. His brown eyes followed her words, looking away from the fox to look at her. "Naturally." He agreed with her on the hot chocolate comment and then stopped, puzzled for a moment, at her hello kitty joke. After a second or so, when he put the link together he let out a small laugh and took another sip from the mug of cocoa. It was definitely colder by now.
With a small intake of breath, he urged his own powers forward and lifted a hand above his cup. Being as careful as he could possibly manage, he summoned a flame into his palm and focused it on the center of his cup to heat up the drink. When he started to feel the warmth through his cup, he stopped and let the flame die out. "Hephaestus." He spoke up and turned to look at her again. His brown eyes staring into hers. "So...what movies did you bring?" He eased up a little bit more, his face took on a softer expression as he took another sip of the cocoa.

Dru smiled when he laughed, it was a quiet laugh but still a laugh. She liked hearing people laugh cause it was always something different. So a Hephaestus kid? Hmm, how interesting. She cracked a small smirk and laughed "Well i guess we are both flameos." she said, she could feel the fire in his hand as he heated up his hot chocolate, taking a sip of her own. It was chilled but it was alright with her's. She watched for a sec as fire lost track of his ball and she slowly let it die out, leaving the fox ghost to wondering around and sniffing her leg.
She noticed his eyes were on her and noticed another interesting thing, they were brown but sort of like a rainbow of brown, the shifted colors based on no one factor. From light to dark in short areas. When he asked her what movies she brought she pulled her tablet out of her pocket, a little embarrassed "Uhh.. every war movie i can get my hands on" she said laughing a little at herself. She couldn't help but love them though they were amazing. She only kept the really good ones though. She would not stand a second rate back yard made movie.

He barely noticed it when the ball of hellfire went out, and he didn't notice when the fox went sniffing around her legs. What he did notice were her light blue eyes. Hers were different compared to his. The majority of her eye color was the one light blue, but the way it shined, even at night in firelight was distracting enough for him. She may have been a Hades kid, but from a single look at her blue eyes, he was reminded of water. Not like the kind you would see out in the middle of a dirty lake, more like something you would see out in pool, or around certain islands. Clear, light blue water.
Then came up the question of the movies and she went for the tablet in her pocket, a slight blush crawling up her cheeks. As she pulled out the tablet, he couldn't stop his eyes from leaving hers, to look at the red tint to her cheeks and then to her neck. "Got any suggestions?" He asked, pulling his eyes back up to hers before they went down too far. He could act noble but it didn't necessarily mean he actually was noble.
"I haven't seen too many movies." He stated quietly and set the cup of Hot chocolate down beside him. "Spent too much time on the road." He lied. A small smile quickly grew on his face at her laugh on how many war movies she had grabbed. Blonde hair, blue eyes. At first glance he would have guessed her to be a Zeus kid. Part of him wondered if it was her natural hair color or not.

Oh geez, that wasn't a good idea. Dru inwardly smiled at him asking her about film. She could talk for ages about movies but she knew she shouldn't, it would be weird and probably freak him out. Movies always had comforted her. She loved seeing another world, something that could take people away from whatever they were facing, make them feel like this person had the same struggles you have in a different form though. Movies connected people and that's why she loved them.
"Well I'm not a good judge considering i don't know what kind of movies you like." she said, following in suit, setting her hot chocolate on the table. She no long felt she need it anyways. She gasped a little "Really? Movies are amazing though, at least in my opinion." she said, feeling a blush again due to her nearly rant about the spectacular things that are movies. She looked at him and noticed the smile on his face, her own widening. "With war movies it depends on the amount of Gore you can handle. Whether a small cut is too much or if you wouldn't flinch to a head being taken off." she said, not realizing how crazy she could have sounded right them. Well if he doesn't think shes weird he will just think shes a blood-raging psychopath. Peachy.

Her excited attitude only jumped when he asked her about films. His own smile was made to widen when she set the hot chocolate down to talk about movies. She couldn't believe he hadn't seen...well movies in general. If only she knew. He thought to himself as another blush crept up her cheeks as she continued. Red looked good on her. He didn't know about a ridiculous dark red, but a slight tint? He liked it on her. His own smile stayed the same as hers widened, but he did scoot a little closer as she talked, so he could 'hear her a little bit better.'
"Oh gore...I don't know." He joked around for a little bit before he gave her a small nod. "I can handle gore." He let out a small laugh again. If only she knew. He repeated in his mind. "So...For someone who hasn't really watched too many movies, you're a great judge." His smile widened as the words left his lips. "Mind if I join you for your movie night?" He asked with his head barely cocked to the side.

Wow, some people just had amazing smiles. Not like the whole 'wow you have a perfect smile' but like seeing them smile just seemed to brighten everything around them. That was James'. Dru couldn't help but smile from it, even more so when he asked if he could join her. "I guess, if you want to." she said smiling at him. Well the plan was to go back to her room but it was a nice night, and he seemed pretty nice.
She looked over at the fire again for a split second. Fire was on the edge of the hearth, looking into it. She could feel his emotions. Fire was what killed him, yet he was no longer afraid of it but embrased it. She snuck a peek at James and wondered what that he was like. What made him tick, outward dreams and inward fears. He was probably as normal as the rest of them though. People with ordanarly lives given extream challenges based on something that never had a say in.
She shook the thought quickly and looked back at James smiling. "Here" she said handing him the tablet " You pick, i've seen the all already so you, seeing so few movies, pick from this list. They are all the best, a few are pretty old but the rest are pretty modern."

His own smile widened when he saw her smile back at him. Most of what he did may have been niceties but, now? He was going to get to watch a movie. It wouldn't be too bad for him...depending on the movie, but he didn't really know movies. So there was a high chance that he would like any movie that was chosen. "That would be amazing." He stated before he she looked away. His eyes followed hers for a second before he looked back at her, his eyes roamed as she stared off in the direction of the hearth. She could definitely help him out.
Purposefully, he left his eyes to linger on her for a moment to long before he looked away and lowered his head slightly, almost as if in embarrassment. Quietly, he took the small machine in his hand and stared at it. The thing seemed to unfold beneath his gaze as his powers automatically told him how the thing worked. It didn't actually unfold, but it felt like it had to him. It took him only seconds to select the first one he saw. His fingers tapped lightly against the screen before he held it out for her again.
"So is this something you do every night?" He asked with a cocked eyebrow and another smile. "Come out here every night to watch a movie and sip on hot chocolate?" His chuckled lightly and stuffed a hand into his jacket pocket, fumbling around with pieces of building scraps and papers.

Pretty much Dru couldn't keep her eyes off him. It wasn't that she was love at first sight it was just he was intresting to look at. His smile, his eyes, everything seemed intresting to her. She just smiled and took the tablet from him as she looked at what he picked, it was a good one, one of her favorites actually. She quietly took it and set it up right and jacked two pairs of head phones into it.
"Oh No no no." she said laughing slightly, "I don't do this too often I just couldn't sleep tonight" she said looking at the sky then back at her tablet "I'm not much of a night dweller, its too. Sterotypical of Hades kids" she said jokingly but meant it. All her family would be sulking about or shadow traveling out of camp. They were often called freed Birds from others because they could leave whenever and no one could really stop them. Trust her, you didn't want to run into a shadow travel. It was painful and could lead to death depending on the location. She didn't like to think about it.
She looked back at Jamie and handed him a pair of head phones, "Shall we?"

Sometimes part of him wished he could just touch a person and understand them like machines. People simply confused him most of the time. He couldn't figure out what it was that made some people act the way they did. Was it just in their own wiring? Out of the corner of his eyes he caught her looking at him and he held back a confident smile. He didn't need it, even if it would have helped his situation. No. Not at the moment. With a deep inhale, the pyromancer handed the tablet back to her and watched her take it back silently. He didn't bother watching when she pulled out the headphones. He just listened, and she had some rather interesting things to say.
"A Hades kid that doesn't sulk twenty-four seven?" He let out a small chuckle and playfully bumped his shoulder against hers again. "Well that sucks." He stated simply before taking a quick glance at the tablet. "If you're not out here every night, then how am I supposed to know where to go if I want to surprise you with a new knowledge and understanding of 'war movies.'" He chuckled lightly again. He watched carefully as she straightened out the two sets of headphones and offered one to him.
"Abso-friggin-lutely." He grinned at her and carefully took the headset.
