Amelia was walking through the woods alone. She couldn't believe she had been claimed just a few hours ago. She would have to move her things into the Aphrodite cabin that afternoon. But what would the campers think of her? Would they think she was too shy, which she really was. She didn't like to express her opinions, so she never really talked. What if she wouldn't have any good friends in her new cabin? She worried about so much and had anxiety issues. She couldn't stop thinking up scenarios in which she would be made fun of or be embarrassed. She knew she was basing her thoughts off of stereotypes, so she knew that there were probably more kind people in there than she thought. But she couldn't get her thoughts off of her worry. A crack of a branch behind her cut through her thoughts like a knife. She whiped her head around to be met by a smiling face.

The forest was one of Pans favorite places in the entire camp. Mostly because it was somewhere he could just be with his friends, goof around, and rarely get busted for his antics. Well, you could also see the sky clearer from the tops of the trees. He was doing just this when he saw someone walking beneath his hiding spot. He climbed down the tree, quietly, watching her walk for a second. He had never seen this girl around camp before, which was a little strange because Pan knew everybody. That meant she was new. That meant it was going to be a fun day. He jumped down from the tree, his feet making a large cracking sound as the girl flipped around. He smiled and waved, "hola! and you are?" he asked.

Amelia brushed her hair back from her face with her hand and beamed. She was happy to see a new friendly face. "Bonjour! my name is Amelia! And you are?" she greeted the stranger. She had never seen the guy around. She had only been at camp for about 3 days, so this wasn't all that surprising. Oh please let him be nice, Amelia thought, hoping to make a new friend. Who knew? She seemed to make friends pretty easily, and this guy looked friendly enough. She could always use a new friend around the different atmosphere of Camp Half Blood. She knew she would have trouble fitting with her shyness and all.

Pan smiled happily as the girl said hello to him in French. Either she was an Aphrodite kid or she was just going along with his foreign language help. "Pan Banning. Pleasure to make your acquaintance!" he reached his hand out, offering for a handshake. "It's not safe in the forest, you know," he commented, raising his eyebrow a little bit at her. It was incredibly odd to be wandering around the forest on your own, especially when you were a new kid. Wouldn't she have been warned about all this monster nonsense? I mean, it wasn't like they would just toss her in here. But maybe she was braver than the others.

Amelia gracefully extended her hand and accepted Pan's handshake. "Why isn't it safe?" she asked, "I haven't heard anything about the forest being unsafe. The only thing I was told was that it was a beautiful scene for afternoon strolls, so I came out here to think. If it's so unsafe what are you doing out here?" Amelia looked at Pan with her eyebrows raised and wondered. What is this guy's story? After all every body has a story, don't they? Amelia thought. She studied Pan's eyes. "Eyes are the window to the soul," Shakespeare said. She decided that there was a complex mind behind the brown eyes. One that had many, many unique thoughts.

Okay, that was incredibly strange that no one told her the dangerousness of the forest. There were all kinds of strange creatures there. They were sent into the forest for the purpose of causing a challenge for the Demi-Gods who wanted to wander in there and fight monsters. Maybe this girl was being sarcastic. "Well, whoever told you that was a big fat liar," Pan said with a slight chuckle seeping through his voice. "I'm out here in order to spy on the monsters and make sure they don't get into camp, obviously." He faux rolled his eyes as he lightly stomped on his boot, which cause his knife to spring out of it and into his hand.

Amelia half-heartedly chuckled along with Pan, but she warily glanced around to see if she could spot any monsters. She had only seen one monster so far, and she wasn't to fond of the idea of meeting with any more. She didn't think monsters could be in the forest because of camp boundaries, but according to Pan there was a lot of things she did not know. She wondered what else she wasn't told about camp. She decided then and there that she would ask her new cabin mates that evening. "A knife huh?" she asked Pan and raised her eyebrows at the knife in his hand, "I'm not quite sure what kind of weapon I want to use. I can't decide. I'm no good with a bow and arrow; I've tried that. But with the knife/dagger I could have swiftness and agility, but if I had a sword I could have accuracy and longer range than a dagger. After all I have really only been here for a few days, so I haven't had much practice with either at all."

"Well," he said, taking a step forward and casually flipping the knife in his hand, "You'll figure out where you fit in best with weaponry over time. But, I don't recommend coming in the forest without one," that was a pretty silly thing to do, but since she was new it made sense that she wouldn't know that. "So tell me, who is your Godly parent? If you know," he added that last part, hoping as to not offend her in any way. Some unclaimed kids had a way of throwing a fit when it came to not knowing who their parent was yet.

Amelia sighed. She probably shouldn't be in the forest without one, but she didn't know that the forest was dangerous. She replied to Pan, "My mother is Aphrodite, but don't mistake me for the stereotypes I have been hearing. I don't believe that I am mean or that I use people like they say. I sure hope I'm not anyways." Amelia glanced down at her gold sandles. That was her biggest insecurity. She didn't want people to think she was mean or rude. She believed that she wasn't, but she questioned herself all of the time. What if I am mean on accident or hurt somebody? she would ask herself. She did not like when people were mean to her at all, and she didn't want to do that to somebody EVER. Amelia looked back up at Pan and asked, "Anyways, who is your godly parent?"

Pans smile lessened only the tiniest bit when she said Aphrodite, but it grew back into place when she said she hoped not to be a stereotypical one. Honestly, most Aphrodites were nice people but that was the problem. Pan didn't agree with romance, love or any of that. He didn't want any part of that in his life. So, the Aphrodite cabin and he often didn't get along. They made a 'project' out of him a while back, trying to find him a girlfriend, but that was the last thing he wanted. That didn't go too well... "Cool," was all he said, hoping she could get past the girly side of her mother and not feel ashamed about it either.
Then, she asked what kind of Godly parent he was born under. "Urania, Goddess of constellations. But I am also patroned by Hermes, the God of mischief," that was only one of Hermes specialties, but it was what Pan was noticed for by the God.

Amelia nodded and made a mental note to research Urania later. She had heard the name around Camp Half Blood, but she didn't know too much about the goddess. She had always liked the different constellations and astronomy though. "So what did you do to capture Hermes' attention, so he would patron you?" she questioned Pan. She had an idea of what patron gods and goddesses were, and she thought that the demigod had to catch the god's attention. Amelia really hoped she was right, so she would not make a fool of herself in front of her new friend.

A mischievous little grin started to slowly form on Pans lips. "That's kind of a big question," he chuckled with a little swing in his step as he beckoned her to follow him, leading deeper into the forest. "Let's just say I caused a lot of trouble as a kid. Nothing dangerous, of course, but I sure made my step mother crazy. I was pretty good at making friends in those days, especially with furry animals that I hid in her drawers," he laughed. "That was just one of my many pranks. I also had really fast to travel, considering I came from London and ask, and he helped me with that. He it's the God of travelers as well. Either way, I've talked to him more than my own mother." Hermes really was the best uncle ever, that was the truth. He doted on Pan more as a younger child, but now he was busier... But that was all right. Pan understood that.

Amelia followed Pan. She walked deeper into the forest, leaves making noise with every step she took. She laughed along with Pan as he was telling his story. It must be cool to have a patron god, to be noticed for something you did, Amelia thought. She had never talked with her own mother, much less any other god besides Mr. D, who she talked to on her first day at camp. She didn't know exactly what she was good at or if she was good at anything that was god worthy. Amelia looked at Pan and asked , "How did you manage to get animals into you house unnoticed?" "Oh, easy," Pan said, still walking backwards as he led her through the trees, "they were little ones, they could easily fit in my jacket or a bag. Sometimes I'd just leave a window open and they'd be able to crawl in on their own. Honestly, my step mother barely paid any attention to anything, so it was easy to slip things by her." He spoke proudly, of course, for his step-mother really was quite oblivious to all of his antics. He had done things that she probably didn't even know where possible. She still didn't even know he was a Demi-God actually, and he'd rather keep it that way.

"I could never get anything past my mom or dad. Once I tried to sneak a stray puppy into the house in my school backpack, but as I was going through the kitchen, the poor thing started to bark. They wouldn't let me keep the dog, so we had to bring it to the shelter. I was never good at that kind of stuff," Amelia explained as she followed Pan through the trees. She couldn't understand how he was walking backwards. If she would try to do that, she would trip. Amelia was so clumsy; she tripped over her own feet all the time.
