Jay hadn’t been at the camp long but had managed to explore a good length of the camp; he learnt that the stables smelt terrible, his cabin is full of drama and that the beach is so big it confused him how no one has ever stumbled across it. One place he hadn’t been so far was the climbing wall, he had heard a lot about it from all the competitions people have between each other but had never been. So today was going to be the day where he went to investigate what all the fuss was about.

He left his cabin and made his way down to where he was told the climbing wall was, to his surprise there were a few people there already – even though it was just before midday. No one from his cabin were here so he definitely didn’t recognise anyone but they all seemed focused on getting to the top so they didn’t notice Jay. He found a small wall to lean back on and watch everyone climbing, it really was quite high. Jay definitely would not be climbing it anytime soon; he hated climbing in general let alone climbing that…thing in front of him. There always seemed to be something resting on getting to the top and winning as well and Jay was not one to gamble much. He preferred to prank and this wall did actually strike up a few ideas to prank someone.

Most of these people looked like they had been in the camp for a lot longer than Jay had been however, so pranking them would most likely end up with Jay getting a bloody nose or being isolated from everyone in the camp for months. Something he’d prefer to avoid right now. That was when someone stole his attention. A brown haired girl, about the same age as him, was here as well and she seemed to be experienced in climbing so she’d obviously been there a lot longer than Jay. But boy was she good looking. Lifting his hand up from his side, Jay pushed his fringe back before continuing to stare watch the girl. He didn’t know who she was or what cabin she was from but he was eager to find out. Meaning he’d have to find some way to get her attention. Maybe a small prank? Climbing up there was off the table so maybe he could just stand at the bottom but a prank did seem easier, he just didn’t have any materials nearby.

Tabitha couldn't remember when she'd first been at the Climbing Wall, but she still knew that she'd immediatly loved it. It looked scarier and more dangerous than it actually was when you knew it and the girl knew it pretty well. It had been in her second year at Camp, when she was ten years old, that she'd managed to climb to the top of it and by now it kind of a routine to get up there. As Pegasi were too complicated to ride, she had to accept this as her way to look all over Camp Halfblood. She ignored most of the other Campers as she made her way up to the top because she wasn't up for races today. As she was almost on top, one of the very funny other climbers, pulled on her leg and she slid down a bit, cursing under her breath. She hated when that happened.

That was when her Hermes senses tingled. Somebody was watching her and it wasn't one of the other demigods on the Wall. She looked around, narrowed her eyes and finally came to the conclusion that it was a boy at the foot of the all. It didn't seem like he was eager to climb but he was staring at Tabitha and she didn't know what to think of that. She was used to people looking at her, she knew that she was considered pretty by many and she didn't want to argue about it even though she didn't really see what made her stand out. At least she could use her looks to her advantage so she didn't mind it. She eyed the boy for another moment and tilted her head. He was on the ground and a couple feet away so she couldn't make out any details... But she wanted to see who was staring at her.

Being a daughter of Hermes had it's advantages, for example being able to teleport. She wasn't good at it because she didn't use it often, but right now seemed like the perfect ocassion to use it. Tabs closed her eyes as she didn't want to end up teleporting herself into the lava below or something... And made it. She re-appeared right behind the boy who'd been staring at her, a satisfied grin on her face. "Hmm, what're looking at, buddy?", Tabs asked, tapping on the guy's shoulder.

The climbing frame was weird to come to terms with. There was actual lava at the bottom of it and Jay couldn’t help scrape the thought of someone falling in and completely singing their whole body…Like a Christmas turkey. Was that even legal? Would the child’s godly parent sue the camp or would they just consider it as their child’s fault for being weak enough to fall in to begin with. Either way it was putting him off of attempting to climb the obstacle even more. Climbing was not for him as a son of Apollo, he’d rather stick to his basketball courts and swimming which he doesn’t do too often but he wanted to start more. It was a good skill to have in life and it kept you fit. Besides water was refreshing to Jay.

Jay would much rather continue to look up and watch the pretty girl complete the task, that way he doesn’t have to worry about toasting himself if he fell or ending up embarrassing himself in front of anyone. So he gets to watch the pretty girl from a safe distance and relax a bit, besides it was a nice day today so Jay didn’t want to spend it cooped up in his cabin of people he didn’t really know, let alone wanted to call ‘siblings’. That was weird. As he got out of his deep thoughts Jay realised that the girl had turned her head, he was pretty sure she was looking at him. ”Oops…” He mumbled to himself as he took a quick glance away, pretending that he was actually looking at all of the campers that were currently climbing and not just her.

After about a minute of pretending to look at other camp members, Jay looked back at the girl to see that she wasn’t looking anymore and let out a sigh of relief. That was until she disappeared. His eyes widened and an eyebrow rose. ”What the-“ He said before he was interrupted by a voice to his right, accompanied by a tap on the shoulder. Jay jumped to the side a bit and looked to see the girl was now beside him. How was that even possible? ”How did you…?” Jay stuttered out before narrowing his eyes curiously, ”are you like… Mad skilled or something? Like a ninja?” He continued on, taking a quick look of her up and down – just to make sure he wasn’t imagining this. Hopefully the fact the girl would ignore the fact he jumped and would focus on the fact he asked if she was skilled or a ninja, would be embarrassing for a first impression to be ’guy who stared at me once then got scared easily.’

This kid was definetly new at Camp because otherwise he wouldn't be surpised by her abilities but able to tell from which cabin she was. Tabs looked the boy up and down, it was adorable how he'd jumped when she tapped his shoulder. She tilted her head a bit, a smile lighting up her face. "Hmm, if I was a ninja, you wouldn't have seen me on the wall, would you?" She stopped for a moment, her smile growing wider. "But hey, maybe I am a ninja and I'm trying to trick you into thinking that I'm not?" She crossed her arms and looked up at the boy next to her. "But in any case, I definetly am mad-skilled", she added and disappeared again, just to re-appear at the other side of the boy.

"I could do this all day, honestly", she said and crossed her arms. She eyed him again, trying to find out which cabin he was from but maybe he was just to new to fit into any of the stereotypes about the different gods. "And if it soothes you, I'm not actually a ninja, at least not yet. I'm just a simple daughter of Hermes and that comes with a whole lot of advantages. You're new, aren't you?", she asked and looked back at the wall for a moment. "This must seem pretty weird if you're new but the lava isn't that bad, once you get over your first few burns it doesn't hurt that much anymore", she shrugged and decided to shut it for a moment to give the boy a moment to say something himself or at least understand what she was talking about.

Jay raised an eyebrow and gave the girl a playfully suspicious look. She replied to his joke, with more humour. The girl was funny and pretty, he was in heaven. However if she really was a ninja he should probably choose his words wisely unless he wants to get impaled with a sword. ”Yeah but if you were a ninja you wouldn’t be having this conversation. You’d have killed me. Otherwise you’re an amateur.” He replied to her with a grin, throwing in a shrug with the reply as well. ”Mad skilled might be the correct term, I agree.” Jay decided to continue on as well, softening up the girl just to certify his safety.

Once again the girl had disappeared, causing him to let out a small groan. This time he didn’t get scared luckily so he still had some dignity towards her. ”Stop disappearing.” He said in a mumble, letting out a small huff as well. But not a kid’s huff, a manly huff or so he likes to tell himself. He noticed she was eyeing him quite a lot during their little meeting and Jay wasn’t sure how to react to it, was it a good eyeing or was it a ‘who is this creep’ type? ”Daughter of Hermes, nice. Got it. But yes I’m new, friendly neighbourhood son of Apollo.” He replied back to the girl, but in reality he wanted to say I like your face a lot. Good job on it. Following her gaze, Jay looked up at the climbing wall and evaluated it a bit more, along with the lava at the bottom. ”Oh yeah no biggy. Just a pit of lava.” That was literally what it was, a pit of lava. He didn’t understand how she was trying to soften this up like it was a bouncy castle, a bouncy castle would have been good right now.

Tabitha chuckled to herself and looked up at the adorable kid next to her. "Maybe you're already dead and you just haven't realized it yet?", she asked, raising both of her eyebrows at him. Sadly she wasn't good at keeping a straight face at her own words, so she smirked a bit and shook her head. "Nah. I don't kill cute newbies, no worries, even ninjas have boundaries." She pushed her hair back and listened to the boys' next few words. Honestly, she wouldn't have expected him to be in the Apollo cabin but now she could see it. She probably was right that it wasn't easy to see who his godly parent was because he was new. Or maybe because even though she'd been around for a couple years, she didn't always run around trying to sort everyone into cabins. As her better brother liked to say, labels are for soup cans.

"Friendly neighbors? Honey, remember, you can't trust me. I'm a ninja." She chuckled again a little. In a way she was finding this conversation pretty hilarious because she liked to mess with people and still she knew that he probably thought she was weird and hey; she didn't give a damn about that. She didn't give a damn about other people's opinions and she wouldn't start it just yet. "But considering your siblings, a ninja at least seems like a more stable possibility. I mean, you know now that I'm not going kill you in the near future, while your siblings might stab you in your sleep without you expecting because they want your candy." The girl shook her head a little about herself and smirked.

"You don't look reassured. It really is just a pit of lava, your father is the god of the freaking sun, lava is nothing against that", Tabs noted and looked at him again and her mind jumped back to her thoughts about his cabin. "Hey, but if you ever need a time out from the craziness of your siblings, you can come over to the Hermes cabin."

”Woah that’s deep.” Jay said through a laugh as he leant to his side slightly, slipping his hands into his pockets. His eyes found their way down to her lips as she smiled, Jay found it captivating and he was sure his heart skipped a bit when the words ‘cute newbie’ then came out of her mouth. ”Cute newbie?...” He stuttered out a bit, he wasn’t sure how to deal with this compliment. Sure he’s had compliments before but this was from a girl he had just met and not from a friend who would feel inclined to compliment him. Be cool Jay. Say anything, don’t leave her hanging. ”Your face is good too, you know.” He said out, putting a smirk to go with the words but it disappearing after what he just said processed in his mind. Your face is good. How had this girl took away any sense of flirtyness Jay had? Talking to new girls was obviously a lot different to flirting with his friends back at school.

Now back to the ninja ideal, this girl seemed pretty badass if she could joke around about being a ninja and actually have Jay somewhat believe it but for some reason even though they had just met, Jay knew the trust bit was a lie. ”You seem trustworthy. A ninja wouldn’t tell secrets.” He said smugly, smiling to himself as if he was proud of what he said, which he was. He found himself hilarious even when others didn’t, always being the first to laugh at his joke. As soon as she mentioned being stabbed in his sleep over candy he knew exactly who she was talking about. ”Young Lucas is a hand full to say the least…but he’s a good kid.” Jay said with a small smile, nodding to himself, most people found him annoying but Jay found him amusing.

Hearing her say that his father was the god of the sun came across strangely to Jay. He still couldn’t get used to the fact he had the blood of a god and even had powers, he knew he could control light because he used to play with the lamps back at his old house and never used to need a torch when he was on his own in the dark but it sounded weird. ”Yeah…” He mumbled as he took another glance at the lava before turning back to the pretty girl. ”I’ll keep that in mind. Feel free to come to my ‘crib’ too. If you want to risk your life.” That was better than his ‘touch your face’ reply earlier. He actually sounded pretty cool; a cheeky smirk appeared on his face. ”I’m Jay.” He said as he extended his arm out, offering his hand for a shake. His mother told him to be a gentleman at all times and he planned on doing so.

The smirk on Tabs face only grew as she watched the boy becoming a little awkward when she called him cute newbie. At his words, she couldn't help but giggle. Your face is good too, you know. "Usually people don't put it that bluntly, but thank you very much", she said and tilted her head a bit. She was done eying the guy, now her gaze was fixed on his eyes. They were nice eyes and she liked the way that they seemed to smile along with him, when he was smiling. She just liked cheerful people and he seemed like one.

She raised an eyebrow at him, when he called her trustworthy. "Totally trustworthy, always", Tabs nodded slightly before teleporting once more, behind him. "Watch your back." She playfully nudged his side with her elbow; she didn't have much of a problem with others and especially not when they were just adorable. "Oh, I've heard. Sometimes you can hear his tantrums even in our cabin. But I know him, he can be a sweet kid if you bribe him with candy or firecrackers", the daughter of hermes noted and ran a hand through her hair. "Not that I'd give firecrackers to a seven-year old... That's totally irresponsible."

That was when ther girl realised that she'd just invited a boy over to her cabin whose name she didn't even know. She looked at the hand that Jay extended to her. "I guess I'll stick to cute newbie or honey, I'm Tabitha", she introduced herself and shook his hand. "And I'll also keep that offer in mind for when I know that little Lucas isn't in the cabin because I'm not keen on being killed by a seven-year old", she added with a grin.

Jay winced a little as she picked up how stupid his attempt of a compliment was, if there was a hole nearby he would definitely crawl into it and curl up. She said thank you at least, that has to have counted for something. ”You’re welcome.” He said softly, returning her gaze and he noticed that her eyes were locked onto his. A small smile grew at the side of his lip as Jay stood there, having a little eye-to-eye with the pretty girl as he waited patiently for her to speak again.

With a playful groan and turned around, facing the girl as she nudged him. ”First of all, still not cool. Secondly, you don’t get to touch this.” He teased with a grin as he playfully slipped both hands out of his pockets and pointed towards his whole body. ”Yeah his tantrums are definitely something… But hey he’s a kid.” Jay said as he watched her hand slip through her hair, his heart entirely wishing that was his hand going through each strand. ”Definitely not…” Jay agreed in a slightly quieter voice, changing his gaze back onto her eyes.

Looks like the pretty girl is called Tabitha, a nice name. He shook her hand gently, but still keeping a firm grasp as he was taught to always keep his hand firmly. ”Nice to meet you, Mad-skilled Tabitha.” He said, smiling politely as he pulled away his hand with his fingers brushing across her palm. ”It’d be better if no one in the cabin was there, not just Lucas.” He thought out loud before realising he actually said it. His eyes widened a bit but he tried to make it seem like he didn’t mess up and he actually did mean that which he did. Innocent or not, Jay wasn’t going to complain about being in a cabin alone with Tabitha.

The girl giggled a little and shook her head. "Totally cool, if you could teleport you would do it too", she explained and looked him up and down for another moment. "I kinda just did touch this", she added with a small shrug and tapped on his shoulder once more, standing on her tip toes to actually be able to reach it properly. "And I touched it again and I'm so gonna touch this more often", she announced with a wide grin, knowing fully well that this sounded wrong. It was supposed to sound like that.

She grinned when he said that it would be better for them to be alone in the cabin. "Dude, calm down, we only just met", Tabs giggled and looked up at Jay some more, biting her tongue to hold back any more comments. Her brother apparently wasn't a good influence for her, her thoughts were inappropriate like 90% of the time and it wasn't okay actually. "Like I said, gonna keep that in mind." There was probably so much more they could talk about right now, but the girl heard somebody call her name and somehow she knew that it had something to do with her cabin. She sighed, she would have loved to talk to cute newbie some more.

"Sadly, I've gotta go... I'll see you around" She smirked at Jay once more before she went off to where she'd heard somebody call for her.
