“Or maybe she’s slamming doors in people’s face?” Kaylee suggested with a bit of a shrug. “She could be a vindictive goddess for all we know. That’s maybe why she doesn’t reproduce.” Kaylee really didn’t know. She found the idea of the gods and their sexual tendencies to be completely weird and she really didn’t like going into the details that Jen was apparently comfortable with. And she was definitely not comfortable with the language that Jen was using either.

Kaylee shrugged a bit as she looked over at Jen. “Well… I know some guys are mean and you could’ve gotten a mean guy to come and find you… and that wouldn’t be lucky at all.” She knew that there were a few nice guys around camp, but some of them were jerks too. There was no telling which one would find Jen in the middle of the gardens like she did.

“I suppose you’re right.” Jen said even though she wasn't really interested in the habits of some obscure goddess from Rome's past. "I know I would be if I was her. Hell, I might even do it just for shits and giggles. You've got to make eternity go by somehow so I wouldn't blame her." Jen chuckled softly. Her head was still pounding but who knew, maybe after all this was over she would go by temple hill and offer up one for old Cardea herself. If she really did have a sense of humor like Kaylee was suggesting then the old bitch would probably get a kick out of it too.

Kaylee's next statement made Jen scoff however. Mean guys? Jen ate mean guys for breakfast and washed them down with a bottle of vodka afterwards. What was all this nonsense about mean guys? "Sunbeam you just gotta know how to handle yourself." She said in an exasperated tone of voice. Kaylee clearly hadn't had much experience with boys if the mean ones were what she was worried about. "Listen, all boys are the same. Even if you can't punch them in the jaw or run a blade through them you can still give them a nice kick in the balls if nothing else. It's amazing how protective they are over that dangly little piece of flesh and the second you put the family jewels in peril they'll start crying for their momma's." Jen grinned up at the Kaylee despite her headache. "I mean you don't have to fight them off too often but who said you had to put up with them thundering around like they run the world when most of the time they are scared to death of a girl who can really handle herself? You’ve just got to learn to take care of yourself is all.”

Did Kaylee know how to handle herself? She didn't know. Honestly, she didn't do a lot of training and was just holding the flag whenever they did the war games. And some of the guys she met were nice, but what if she ran into one of the not so nice ones? Would she handle herself and take care of herself like Jen was saying she should? She honestly didn't know. And it didn't help that Tristan was nowhere to be seen. Maybe she needed to take care of herself. Besides, it got boring holding the flag after a while.

She looked over at Jen as she bit the corner of her lip in thought before she spoke. "Jen?" she asked at first, not quite sure of herself. "Do you think you can teach me? How to take care of myself... I mean... It seems like you have a lot more experience in it than most people I know."

Really handling boys wasn't as hard as what everyone made it out to be. For the life of her Jen couldn't figure out why so many girls let them get away with as much as they did. Put her against any boy, any one of them, and she would bugger them with her gladius before breaking a sweat. Still, the very fact that they needed to be handled was reason enough for a girl to know how to keep things under control. Would Kaylee even know what Jen was talking about though? Jen wasn't so sure.

As it turned out Kaylee surprised her. All of a sudden little miss sunshine was asking for Jen to show her the ropes and that was so unexpected Jen began to laugh in spite of the pain in her head until she realized that the girl was being serious. Jen straightened up for a moment and stared at the girl as her laughter died away. "You're not kidding?" She said still not able to fully believe what she was hearing. "You really want to see what you're missing out on huh?" Chuckling Jen shook her head. "All right little lamb I'll take you under my wing and to start we need to say balls to this whole clinic idea. Come on. I know a place where we should be able to begin your training even this early. Getting a good drink in me will probably do more good than the clinic anyways."

Kaylee was taken aback when Jen started laughing. She didn't think her question was funny at all and was quite confused on where the humor was in it. But once she stopped laughing, Kaylee nodded her head to show she was indeed serious. She needed to learn the ways and Jen was the best teacher she could get right now.

But she started second-guessing herself when Jen said not to go to the sick bay. She gulped a bit as she nodded her head slightly. "So..." she said slowly, unsure of what to say. "Do you want to go to the bars or something? Are those things even open right now?"

Jen chuckled wryly as little miss sunshine seemed to have second thoughts. Jen had no intention of letting the girl back out of this however. Kaylee wanted an education? Then that's exactly what Jen was going to give her. "No we aren't going to a bar." She said scoffing at the very thought of having to find one that was open and that would serve them. "Everyone knows that infantry dogs make the best hooch and I know just the cohort that would be happy to help you along your way. To the Fourth barracks!"

Jen's momma didn't raise no fool. In fact, Jen's momma didn't raise her at all but her daughter had developed a pretty strong since of cunning over the years. She knew that the Fourth Cohort was a gang of misfits and ne’er-do-wells. It was enough to make a girl wish that the Legion would allow reassignment but barring that she knew that she could count on the soldiers of the fourth to have some kind of little still hidden away that would allow her to initiate Kaylee properly. "Come on gumdrop. We're going to get you drunk, flirt with some boys and maybe even piss a few gods off while we're at it." Walking, almost pulling the girl along now that the situation had turned in her favor, Jen led Kaylee off towards the barracks and the promise of booze.

"The Fourth Barracks?" Kaylee repeated as she blinked a couple of times. She heard stories of the Fourth Cohort, but she really didn't believe they were true. How could the praetors allow drugs and alcohol in the legion let alone the barracks? And the Fourth Cohort... she tended to stay away from them just because of the naughty things they did. Plus, they always seemed to be a tad bit rude. And here she was getting dragged there by the girl she met minutes ago because she asked for help.

"Drunk?" Kaylee repeated as she gulped again. "Is that even a good idea... Can you teach me without getting me... drunk?" she squeaked out the last part of her question.

"Relax little lamb." Jen said in placating tones. "Whether you get drunk or not is up to you but I bet you're going to be having so much fun you probably won't even notice." Jen chuckled to herself. She was feeling better all the time and even though Kaylee's sweetness was the most adorably sickening thing she thought she had ever seen she was willing to bet that there was a girl who enjoyed having fun like a true Roman deep down inside. Jen just had to nurture it and coax it out so that Kaylee could see for herself.

The walk to the barracks didn't take that long and Jen knew just who to find to get Kaylee's training under way. After visiting with one of her friends for a few minutes she rejoined Kaylee with a bottle wrapped in a suspicious brown paper bag. "Look. Since it's you're first time and all I promise I didn't get you anything too exciting. We've got to break you in right, slow and steady, so have a little faith." Truthfully Jen didn't intend to let Kaylee do anything too crazy, at least not yet. She was right when she said they needed to take it slow but she was sure they could still have fun along the way. "Moment of truth sunshine. Have a taste and try not to embarrass me here. I've got a reputation to protect."

Having fun didn't sound too scary, but the fact that it was going to be in the Fourth Cohort was the scary part. But she asked for Jen for help and she was going to take that help, no matter what form it took. She was going to be brave and she was going to take whatever came her way, even if it was super scary and might be a bad decision at the end of the day.

The cohort itself looked like all the other cohorts, but the atmosphere... it was way different. She stayed off to the side as Jen went to visit with other people. Kaylee looked around as she second-guessed herself. Was this really a good idea? She was deep within her thoughts when Jen returned with a bottle in a brown bag. She raised an eyebrow as she looked at her. "What's in it?" she asked before she hesitantly took the bottle and took a sip from it.

Jen watched Kaylee consider the drink with a curious expression. What would the girl do? For all her talk about wanting to be shown how to have fun and get out of her innocent shell watching her was still very much like watching a timid animal examining some unknown hunter's trap. She saw the drink, was thinking about it but looked like she was almost scared of it. When Kaylee asked what was in it Jen chuckled. “Jupiter can bite me in the ass if I know. It's barracks moonshine hun. It’s better not to ask how it was made our what goes into it.”

Kaylee's little innocent act was cute but if she really wanted to see what the other side was like she was about to have he mind opened to a larger world. "It won't kill you though, well bad moonshine will but this is the good stuff. Just don't get too cocky. Take it slow. It won't have much taste but it'll burn like Hephaestus is pissing down your throat if you get to chugging the stuff. Now go ahead sunshine. Take a sip and see what you've been missing."

Moonshine? Oh boy... Kaylee didn't know what she was getting herself into, but she decided to take a sip from the bottle anyway. And it burned. Not like a fire, but dear gods and the taste? Not much taste? She could definitely taste a lot of things in it and they weren't pleasant at all. Kaylee barely managed to swallow her sip before she was coughing and sputtering.

"Sweet Victoria," she managed to mutter after her coughing fit was done as she looked at Jen. She raised her eyebrows as she raised the bottle as well. "How do you guys drink this? Do you burn off your tastebuds?" That seemed like the only obvious way someone could consume this, unless they were already drunk by the time they got around to this.

Kaylee's first drink went as one would have expected and as she coughed and sputtered Jen got a couple of good laughs before she went over to give her a few pats on the back. "You did good little lamb. You may not think so but at least you kept it down." Truth be told Jen was actually pretty proud of the girl. There was a moment there when she still wasn't sure if Kaylee was going to go through with it and yet she had.

"As for how we drink it you get used to it. I actually like the burn. It lets you know you're alive." Jen chuckled again and snatched the bottle from Kaylee to take a sip herself. "aah...Certainly wakes you up if you know what I mean." Jen smiled and passed the bottle back. "Take another drink. It shouldn't take much but the reason why comes after you get a little in your system and I'm not letting you give up on it yet. Go on sunshine, have at it."

Take another drink. Have at it. Kaylee looked at Jen as she took a sip from the bottle and handed it back to her. She wasn't sure if she wanted to take another sip or not. It burned like hell the first time around, but apparently Jen liked knowing she was alive? But at least she kept it down, which was an accomplishment within itself. She took a deep breath before she took another sip from the bottle.

And she took several sips after that and she was definitely feeling herself loosen up and she wanted to have fun. Oh so much fun than before. Somebody got music going int he Cohort and Kaylee grabbed Jen's hand as she tried to drag her over to where people were dancing. "C'mon. Let's go," she said with a wide smile.

I few more sips and it wasn't too much longer before Jen noticed the alcohol begin to take effect. The daughter of Fortuna watched as Kaylee slowly began to find the bottle much more interesting than before and she wondered what kind of drunk Kaylee would be. If Jen was a betting girl, and she usually was, she would have put money on little miss sunshine being the wild and crazy kind of drunk which was really the only kind she got along with on a regular basis. That bet, it seems, would have paid off as after she had gotten a little more alcohol in her system the girl grabbed Jen's hand and proceeded to lead her toward the crowd. The party seemed to be on and Jen couldn't help but be happy with the results.

"Alright gumdrop, since we both seem to be doing better with a little drink in us let's see what you've got." Phase one was complete but now came the real fun part. The joy of introducing people to things like alcohol was seeing how they reacted to new experiences. Jen thought of it as the experimentation stage of Kaylee's training and it was time to see how this particular experiment turned out.

Once they had found a nice spot Jen spun Kaylee around to face her. "You know how to dance sunshine? If not follow my lead and I'll have you moving in no time." Jen gave the other girl a wink and began dancing close to her giving her an example to imitate. After a few minutes of this she smiled at Kaylee and yelled of the sound of the music. "How's that drink looking now? Are you having fun yet? "

See what she had? Kaylee had a lot of things and she was completely ready to show them off. Some of those things were probably more appropriate than others. But they were in the middle of the dancing crowd and Kaylee could feel herself move to the rhythm of the music. She was really excited to show them what she had and what they were missing. She giggled as Jen spun her around to face her as she started dancing. Kaylee giggled a little bit louder as she followed Jen's move slightly, but then started branching out to moves of her on.

"So much fun!" Kaylee said to Jen as she tried to be heard over the sound of the music. She was rocking her hips as she had her hands in the air as she just danced around to the music and was having such a grand ole time.
