60 or so years, she was told. It's been a while. But don't worry, you'll fit in, everyone here is just like you. Catherine wore a beige overcoat that did not go with her shorts and orange camp shirt. It still smells like home she would tell herself. The coat was with her when she made the choices that changed her life forever: running inside a casino and escaping it. The arena was empty due to the hour, everyone had made their way to lunch and Catherine wanted to check out the place again. The tour was cut short when she first got to camp, due to the disoriented Catherine. She was claimed weeks after spending most of her time at the Infirmary and having daily check ups. She hadn't touched a sword since her first combat at a field, but with the empty arena, Catherine took off her overcoat and folded it at the nearest table. There was a sword that caught her attention at first and Catherine reached for it. The movements moved naturally with her body and Catherine could feel empowered, a feeling she hadn't had in what felt like years.

Another day training was the plan for Jay, the whole idea of it was beginning to grow on him as he realised he wasn’t actually that bad. The way his body moved with a spear, his fluid like movements, it just all seemed like some Kung Fu movie back in the golden days of Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. Besides, if it would one day help him survive then he might as well try to enjoy it. Some days, despite the attempts at it, he just couldn’t enjoy it though. Luckily today Jay was in a cheerful mood and was actually making his own decision to train and not just doing it because it was his cabin’s day.

It was gone normal training times for the camp so it wasn’t surprising to Jay that it was practically empty. What was surprising was the fact there was a lone girl training with her sword. Jay took a glance around to see if there was someone else around who she was potentially sparring with but there was no one. He didn’t actually know this girl but he had seen her around a couple times, she was in the Ares cabin. Not that she fit the part, if he could say so himself. ”So tell me… What exactly did the air do to deserve you stabbing and slashing at it?” Jay mused to the girl with an eyebrow raised, leaning on his spear as he dug the hilt in the ground. The best way for him to start conversations had always been with some silly comment which would serve as an ice-breaker and also decide the tone of the conversation for him. ”I mean… other than keeping you alive.”

Ares' Cabin day for training was more often than what Catherine wanted it to be. She wasn't as comfortable with practice like her siblings, she used to take the same time for her trips to the Infirmary where she would chat up the Apollo kids and avoid confrontation with her Cabin Leader. Her stance was balanced, her feet comfortably steadied her every move and she thought of coming more often without her cabin there to pressure her. A voice threw her off and Catherine stopped her moves, she looked at the source of the voice. She put her arm down, lowering the sharp weapon and shared a smile with the boy's charisma. "It changed." She spoke softly and noticed the spear in his hand. "Impressive." She hadn't tried all the weapons that were at her disposal, but she was constantly interested in people who used other weapons that were different than the usual. "I've seen you around with some friends I have in the Infirmary."

Jay continued to watch the sword flow with the girl’s movement until she stopped and faced him, returning his smile. ”Everything changes.” He replied back to the girl, tilting his head slightly as if he was questioning the girl politely. Her attention went to his spear which made his do the same, he never thought his spear was anything special. It was just like every other spear but just a bit shorter. It was evenly balanced and it was quite light, providing Jay with quicker and more fluid like attacks. ”Any names? I’ve been around the infirmary quite a lot.” He said with a shrug, leaning further on his spear. ”I’ve seen you around too, you haven’t been here long have you?” Jay asked the girl, not that he had been there long himself but he knew some people had been there for a shorter time than him and it was intriguing to see new people.
