Not being allowed to use any of the weapons sucked. Hope wanted to learn how to fight with a bow and arrow and also a dagger. So why wouldn't the older kids teach her? Oh ya because she was too little. She huffed. Shaking her head as she walked down to the arena in her sneakers and outfit that would be ok to train in she opened the doors and looked around smiling widely as no one was here. She skipped in and went to where she knew the bow and arrows where. She picked one up and slowly walked over to where she could shoot them. Making sure no one was around she slowly tried to figure out how to shoot it without taking her arm off. She groaned and shook her head as the arrow fell. She hated this she just wanted to shoot but she didn't know how. She almost wished the hunters of Artemis were here she was sure she could convince one of them to show her. As she tried, again and again, most likely getting blisters and stuff on her hands and everywhere else she groaned and flopped down. She sighed and slowly tied her hair up. She would get the hang of this even if it meant staying here all night. She would show the older kids that she was mature enough to shoot a bow and arrow. She stood up once more and aimed the bow and somehow most likely pure luck. She got the arrow into the hay bale she had been shooting at. She squealed and jumped up and down. She wished someone was here to see that she could do it. But she knew the older kids would just give her a tisk tisk and send her back to her cabin. She was jumping up and down squealing and happy at the fact that she had gotten the arrow to go into the target. Jay Sun Keon

Once again it was time for Jay to venture to the arena to hone in on some of his skills. He hadn’t been in a while out of pure laziness but he felt today would have been a good day. He woke up feeling motivated and determined to at least do something today, he couldn’t sit around doing nothing forever and he wasn’t sure if Mel or Logan were around to talk to so his best option was to train. At least this way he’d actually be doing something useful and something that could save his life one day blah blah blah.
When he got there he realised there was a young girl there too. He hadn’t seen her before but he also hadn’t exactly been about camp for a few days so she could have turned up at any point. What caught his attention was the fact she was holding a bow, he leant behind a tree to stay out of sight whilst he inspected what was going on. He didn’t want to moan at her for trying out the weapons, after all he practically gave a weapon to Lucas and it was good to start training young. The thing that concerned him was if she were to hurt herself through lack of experience. When the girl hit the hay bale with an arrow, Jay smiled to himself at the look of joy on her face.
Deciding to go and talk to her Jay stood up straight, walking up behind her slowly and casually with his hands in his pockets. ”You know, if it was any other camper who caught you, you’d be sent back to your cabin to bed. However since it’s me, I’m going to say. Nice shot kiddo.” Jay said in a soft tone from behind her as he continued walking up until he was stood next to her, glancing over at the arrow stuck in the hay bale. ”You took your time but you got there in the end.”

Hope looked up quickly as she heard a voice speaking and she froze waiting to be told off. The older boy didn't get mad though he looked sorta happy. Hope was confused the other kids would have got mad at her by now. She smiled at his words and nodded holding the bow close to her chest. "None of the others will show me how to shoot a bow or use a dagger so I'm trying to learn how to do it myself," She told him smiling slightly as she stood there her hands behind her back. She watched the older boy and she smiled slightly as she was told a good job.
"Thank you, it's not as good as I wish it was but it's good enough," She told him looking down smiling, she then walked to him holding out her small hand with a wide smile on. "I'm Hope from the Hecate cabin," she told him looking down biting her lip slightly. She only knew a few people but the only ones she really knew where her brother and sister. So she hadn't really talked to any other campers yet. They always seemed to big or mean like they wouldn't like Hope at all.
Hope looked around careful to in case anyone else saw her with the bow. "You didn't bring others with you did you? The others don't like it when I use the weapons, they say I'm too young." She told him looking around fearful that another older camper would find her. She was always careful whenever she snuck the weapons, she was fearful that they would get her in trouble. She was just trying to train herself and learn how to fight in case someone attacked. It wasn't like she was doing anything wrong. She was doing what they were doing, she didn't think it mattered if she was younger or not.

Jay noted the fact that this young girl had a decent mind when it came to training. She knew herself that it won’t magically come over night and that training is something that needed to be done. That mind set was already a good one to have. ”I wouldn’t say none would help you.” Jay said with a small smile as he examined the bow in her hand, turning to face her full on now so he could examine her posture. ”I’ll help you. Although I’m better with my spear and javelins.” He said with a shrug to her, a spear would be way too big for this little girl to start off with so maybe a bow was better.
When the girl held out her hand Jay took it gently, not wanting to hurt the young girl with a handshake that was too strong. ”I’m Jay, son of Apollo.” He replied back with a smile to reassure her as she looked down. He was pretty much harmless to everyone unless he wanted to be and there was no chance he’d be mean to a little girl who looks younger than Lucas.
At this moment in time, even if he wanted to, Jay had no one he could have possibly brought anyway. Tabitha wasn’t around, Logan was probably moping in his bed and his best friend Mel was pre-occupied with something which Jay didn’t ask about so this girl was looking round for no reason. Something in which that made Jay laugh a little. ”Relax, I’m alone. Now come on. Show me your best little archer stance.” He said with a smile as he removed his hands from his pockets and stood up straight.

Hope couldn't believe it when he said he would help her a wide smile fell to her tiny face as she stood there nodding. She liked the bow better than anything she thought it looked awesome and it was easier to shoot far range. She also looked up to the goddess Artemis and her hunters. She smiled widely and held the bow tightly against her chest. She liked him he seemed very nice and he didn't seem to care that she was young and she liked that. She sometimes hated it when she was treated differently just because she was younger than everyone else.
Hearing his name she smiled and nodded. "Nice to meet you" She smiled as she spoke holding on the bow once more she watched him carefully. She didn't know anyone from the Apollo cabin but if they were all like this then she thought she would like the lot of them. Not as much as she did her brothers and sisters but she would like them as well. Plus if didn't hurt that Apollo was Artemis sister so she already thought they were cooler than most. She smiled widely as she spoke, "I like the bow cause its was Lady Artemis uses I want to be a hunter when I get older cause they are super cool, don't you agree?" She smiled widely at him.
Hope then nodded as he said he was alone and did as she was told. It wasn't a very good stance but then again she was only six years old. She looked at him with wide eyes waiting for him to tell her if her stance was good or not she really wanted to learn how to be a proper archer so one day she could join the hunters of Artemis. She wanted to be just as cool as they were.

The smile that had made its way onto Hopes’ face was adorable and Jay really couldn’t hold back his smile either. It was as if her smile was making him smile, and he thought he normally had that effect on other people. So she wanted to be a hunter? That was pretty cool. He was sure she’d grow up to be a good hunter but he wasn’t sure if he was old enough to know the whole deal with being a hunter. They can’t exactly leave easily and they also have to renounce all relationships with boys, which means if Hope finds a boy she likes when she gets older then she’ll have to end it. It was good to have aspirations at a young age but Jay wondered if she really would want to be a hunter so early on in life. ”Well Artemis is technically my aunt. Since she’s my father’s sister. But yes, hunters are pretty badass.” He replied with a small laugh, deciding to let her continue her dream.
Jay examined Hopes’ stance as he did a little and unintimidating circle of her. It wasn’t a bad stance but it wasn’t exactly ‘hunter’ material just yet but he figured she hadn’t done this much. ”Not bad, but you need to straighten your back more. Breathe in with every arrow, exhaling once you shoot.” Jay said as he imitated shooting an arrow with his hands so that Hope would get a visual representation of what he meant. ”Your posture should be tall and nothing should be cramped over. Now show me your posture again.”

Hope smiled and nodded really quickly and giggled, "Well duh silly of course I know that, what do you think I am some dummy?" She laughed and shook her head at him. She looked at him her small eyes filled with joy and laughter like they normally were. Hope listened to him and nodded, her small hair getting it in her eyes a bit but she didn't mind she just moved it out of her face and smiled.
Watching him do a circle around her she watched him carefully and when he started talking she nodded along smiling slightly. It was true she may be little and tiny but that didn't mean Hope wasn't gonna work her butt off till she was the best archer at camp. She hoped to be just like the hunters and hopefully impress them as well. She had looked up to them since she first learned about them. Hope watched him show her how to stand and how to breath when using a bow and arrow and she nodded.
Slowly after she was told to try again Hope smiling a bit as she shifted her stance and she tried to stand tall it was hard when you were barely 4 feet tall but then again she tried. She smiled and slowly lifted the bow so she was holding it properly this time. She wasn't gonna shoot the bow but she pretended like she was taking a deep breath and aiming the bow that looked huge in comparison to her tiny stature. She looked at him with hopeful eyes hoping she did a better this time but she wasn't sure. She looked at him waiting with hope and joy in her eyes, she just wanted to be perfect like she thought the hunters of Artemis were.

Jay mused at the fact Hope slightly teased him by calling him ‘dummy’. It was a childish mock-name but it still made him grin a bit. ”Dummy? Don’t make me use my super-hero powers against you.” He replied jokingly to her, running a hand through his hair as he took a glance around the arena to see if anyone else had came along since they started their conversation. He didn’t care if they had done as he was sure that he’d manage to talk his way out of anything serious happen, if it came to it he’d take the blame for Hope.
As the young girl tried to imitate Jay’s posture he observed her close. Her stance was good, her legs weren’t too close together, her chest was pushed out just enough to allow breath to come in. ”Raise your elbow up so it’s behind, but in line with your jaw.” Jay said as he used his finger to point at the tip of her jaw, following along her jaw with his finger to her arm so she knew how high to raise her elbow up to. Jay wasn’t an expert but he had seen people be taught how to use a bow before so everything he was saying, were things he’d heard before. His ‘talent’ with a bow came naturally so he didn’t have to learn it.

Hope giggled and shook her head laughing at him, "You don't have powers only the gods do and the children of the big three I think." She laughed smiling widely at him. She shook her head she didn't believe most Demi-gods had powers, she knew there were chances but she had never seen any proof besides with the children of the big three. So she never really believed that Demi-Gods had powers. She stood there staring at him smiling and shaking her head. Hope watched him her bright eyes just wide as she was glad that not only was someone finally teaching her how to use a bow but Jay was nice to her and didn't treat her like a little kid.
As she was told to raise her elbow she did slowly trying to do what he told her. She seemed to be getting better with her stance or, at least, that's how it seemed in her mind. Hope watched him carefully and then spoke with curiosity in her voice, "Don't you use a bow I thought all the Apollo kids were gifted with a bow." She told him raising her eyebrow wondering if he used one or not, she knew he mentioned earlier that he was better with a different weapon but she thought the Apollo kids used a bow and arrow or something like that.

”Don’t I? All demigods have some form of powers. For example if I wanted to I could put a little curse on you to make you speak in rhyming couplets for…maybe the rest of the day?” Jay replied back teasingly to her, sticking his tongue out playfully to her. Teasing people was one of his favourite things to do because it came under being silly and joking around, two things that Jay thrived on. ”And I can control light, I’m not great but I’m working on it.” He replied with a shrug, that was his favourite power and he had a feeling one day his ability to control light would be needed in a deathly situation.
He shook his head at her comment as he re-evaluated her next stance. It was better and Jay wanted to see how she’d do firing an arrow. ”Nope, I use a spear, or javellins. I’m good with a bow but I prefer javelins. Now, grab and arrow and fire at the haystack again, using the things I taught you.” He said as he changed the topic to stop them getting too side-tracked, especially since she was holding a weapon.

Hope giggled at the mention of Jay making her speak in rhyme. She shook her head giggling "You would get annoyed if I were to speak in rhyme" She told him giggling as she shook her head at him. Hope smiled at him at the mention of controlling light, she wished she could do something that amazing. "I know my brother can do magic like mother I don't know about my sister, though, I'm most likely not cool enough to be able to do spells." She told him sighing as she looked down shaking her head slightly.
Hope watched him and nodded she had watched the elder kids practice she wanted to be just as cool as them when she was older, but she still thought the hunters of Artemis were the coolest. She knew what it meant being a hunter and she didn't care at all, boys were stupid. Beside's Jay of course and her brother they were ok. Listening to him talk she smiled she then nodded and walk forward and grabbed her arrows. Walking back to her spot she stood there staring at her target it making sure she knew what it looked like.
Taking a breath she notched the arrow and stared for a moment as she breathes in making sure her stance was right she aimed. Slowly, breath in, pull back the arrow, breath out, shoot. She watched the arrow go, the wood shaking a bit from the thing she heard the string snap back into place as she watched the arrow go into the hay bail. She squealed and jumped up and down, it hadn't gone in the center but it was close enough to make Hope happy. She smiled and jumped up and down dropping the boy as she clapped giggling. "I did it! I did it! Did you see! She asked staring at Jay with a wide smile.

Jay rolled his eyes playfully and gave a shrug to the young girl, letting his arms hang loose. ”I’m not too sure. I think rhyming couplets would be amusing.” He replied with a small smirk, shooting her a playful wink as well. He didn’t actually know anyone from the Hecate cabin as far as he knew. He’d probably recognise them if they were put in front of him but other than that he had no idea. ”Being able to use your powers isn’t about being ‘cool’. It’s about being the hero that needs the powers. You’ll learn how to use your powers as you get older, whether you use them for good or bad is your choice. You’re too young to worry about all that anyway.” Jay replied to the sighing girl in front of him. Jay was good; he knew that for a fact. He had no reason to hate the world, as of yet at least.
Jay watched as Hope went over to get some arrows, as she was walking back over to her spot he took another look around just in case. He would get in some deep trouble if someone like Chiron walked up at this moment in time. Especially since he was telling her how to use a weapon that could kill someone or cause harm to herself. When the arrow let loose Jay bit his lip slightly and let out a sigh of relief once it made contact with the right hay bale. His lips turned into a smile and he turned back to her. ”Nice job. Gimme a high five.” He said with a small laugh, spreading out both his palms, low enough for her to high five him from above.

Hope rolled her eyes at his words laughing a bit, she didn't think it would be funny but then again maybe it would and the small girl was just being a bit over dramatic. She had no clue. Hearing him talk about how she had to be a hero or she was supposed to be. She looked down and sighed. She wasn't a hero she was just a nobody but she wasn't about to say that out loud. She wished she knew her father, maybe then she would be a somebody. Maybe.
Watching him she smiled widely when she got the arrow in the target and looked up at him laughing when he said high five. She high-fived him with a wide smile and a giggle. Smiling she was still jumping up and down. She was so glad that she got her arrow into the hay bail that everything else didn't seem to matter. Standing there she smiled widely and looked at him. "Someday after lots and lots of practice I'll make a good hunter" she told him a wide smile on her small face. It was her dream and Hope was gonna make her dream of a hunter become true when she got old enough. That was a promise.

Jay was sure that when it came down to it, Hope would have what it’d take to become a hunter and she would get in easily. She was already so young and beginning to practise that if she kept it up until she was of age she would be accepted by Artemis to join her group of hunters. ”I wouldn’t worry about being rejected. You’ll get in, I’ll continue to help you practise if you’d like. If I have the time that is.” He said with a smile as he ran a hand through his hair and stretched out his arms slightly. ”If you ever want to practise and I’m not around, 1)make sure you don’t get caught, 2)just remember what I taught you…Oh also don’t tell them I taught you.” He let out a small laugh, he’d definitely get on Chiron’s bad side and probably wouldn’t be allowed near the youngers because he keeps ending up doing something to do with weapons with them.
”Right let’s make sure that shot wasn’t luck.” Jay said as he walked over to the hay bale, taking out the arrow and then standing leaning on the hay bale. ”Shoot the hay, try not to hit me please.” He called out afterwards, crossing his arms over. Hopefully he didn’t get shot by Hope, he didn’t feel like dying right now, nor getting an arrow in his side. How he would explain this he didn’t know but he wouldn’t mention Hope. Maybe someone at camp he didn’t like? Yeah that sounded good.
