Drake Foster Lane |
TRADITIONAL APPLICATION Andrew Garfield - Seventeen - Camp Jupiter - Heterosexual - Single likes-- Skipping practice and training, snowball fights, having no responsibilities or expectations, playing his guitar, dogs - especially huskies, being alone, video games dislikes-- Rules, practice time at the skating rink, being forced into things, seeing his sister act out, getting interrupted in the middle of a gaming session, hot drinks like coffee or teas strengths-- Musically talented, easy going, empathetic weaknesses-- Antisocial, lazy, unmotivated fatal flaw-- Laziness fears-- Losing his sister, responsibility, failure preferred weapon-- Crossbow cabin/cohort-- 1st allegiance-- Roman personality-- Drake would love it if he could skate through life without any kind of expectations or responsibilities at all. The problem with the legion and people in generally really is that they take things too seriously. Example number one is Drake's sister Danielle. The girl trains so hard that it makes Drake worry about her sometimes. Him though? He's not about that life at all. Drake would rather glide by just under everyone's notice so that no one gets any wise ideas that he can actually be trusted with anything. Secretly Drake is a little scared about what kind of expectations that others might have of him. He's afraid of letting people down, of not being able to live up to those expectations so he's just decides not to care. After all, those who don't try never look foolish. Sure people might think he's lazy and worthless because he never puts any effort into anything but that's okay. If there's one thing that Drake has learn it's that woes and stresses are only fleeting when you decide not to put any effort in what you're doing. Behind the scenes Drake does really care. He cares about his sister and no matter how much he puts on the disguise of a slacker he can't change that. In fact, it may be because his sister is such a perfectionist and a hard worker that he is the way that he is. He sees what that stress can do to a person in how she acts out and he doesn't want to be that way himself so to counter her extreme hard working attitude he has taken the opposite approach. It has worked for him so far, he just hopes he'll one day figure out a way to help his sister relax a little. godly parent-- Chione / Roman family-- Isabella Lane - 42, daughter of Aeolus, Homemaker Andrew Lane - 45, legacy of Nox, University Professor Danielle Lane - 17, fraternal twin sister, legionaire, daugter of Chione pets-- Timber, Siberian Husky hometown-- New Rome history-- When you're a known demigod growing up in New Rome life isn't exactly easy. It's not fair to have so many expectations to join the legion and succeed at life when you're so young. When your family are all super intense legacies of the Legion that makes things even worse. That's how it was for Drake and since day one when he learned that his parents had all these super important expectations of what his life would be he's felt the pressure from them and tried to avoid it. It all started with their super intense training regimes. All because he was a son of Chione he was expected to be some super star on the ice. They sent him to the ice skating rink and made him, made him, pick out some stupid Olympic sport to train at so he picked the laziest Olympic sport he could, curling, and it was with the New Rome curling team that he would spend most of his time over the next few years. Yeah he was good at it. In fact, he had to make himself fail at the sport on purpose just to prove a point. His parents didn't let him give up on it though. Oh no, they forced him to keep on keeping on and that's exactly what he's been doing much to his chagrin. Life wasn't fair but luckily Drake learned to get by doing just enough so that he didn't get yelled at and that was plenty for him. Danielle liked it of course. She still does. She even liked it when they joined the Legion at the age of twelve and were all of a sudden being trained to be fierce Roman warriors. Drake wasn't too happy about that idea but he had the recommendations and somehow, maybe with the strength of his sister's appointment to push things along, he made it into the 1st cohort with her. It was hell. Training day and night, the weight of the 1st cohort's name following around, nobody needed that kind of stress so again Drake decided he was having none of it. He didn't purposefully start going against his commanders or his parents, that would only bring more punishments and more work on him, Instead he put the lessons he had learned on the curling team to use here as well and found a way to skate by while keeping a low profile. The worst part is that he's gotten used to it over time. He would never admit it to anyone, especially his sister but the Legion isn't so bad and as long as you stay out of trouble. The only problem is that as he's gotten more used to his life his sister seems to be taking the opposite approach. While this wouldn't normally be a problem he sees her taking more and more risks and that isn't necessarily a good thing. He worries about her sometimes and he doesn't usually worry about anything. Such as it is it's getting harder and harder to keep his mouth shut but for now he doesn't really know what to do and until he does he's committed to keeping the status quo.
