Pizza Date | Jay

[Daven Davis]

It was only the first day in Boston, but their searching was coming to an end because of the setting sun. So the group decided to get a hotel room. Well, two rooms. Jay had his own while the girls would room together. But Daven didn't want to stay cooped up in a hotel room when she had a conversation from yesterday bouncing in her head. She excused herself from the room as she went over to Jay's room which was across the hallway and knocked on the door. Hopefully he'd still be agreeable about it as he was last night.

Jay was sitting on the edge of his bed, elblows resting over his knees, as he went over the events of the previous day and those that were yet to come. How he ended up going on a quest he did not know. The main reasoning behind his idea to volunteer was so that he could make sure that Daven was safe himself, not having to worry about someone else doing it for him. Besides it'd give him time to spend some days with her, it could help their relationship grow by saving the world and stuff. Still didn't make the whole thing seem less daunting though. Even with all the training he'd done since he first started.

When he heard the knock on the door, Jay looked over towards the door. He stood up and adjusted his loose grey hoodie before walking over to it and opening it up. "Not coming to tell me that your room mate sucks and you'd rather bunk with me, are you?" He asked with a grin, leaning slightly on the edge of the door, looking at her.

Daven waited for Jay to answer the door. She was a bit nervous. It was technically their first real date after all. They were dating, but hadn't truly been on a date. But Jay did answer the door and Daven had to laugh and roll her eyes. “As tempting as that sounds, that's not why I'm here.” She glanced behind her shoulder at her hotel door before looking at Jay. “Would you like to grab pizza with me? You were making such a fuss about it yesterday that I figured now was a perfect time to grab some.” She offered her hand out to him as she raised her eyebrows while she waited for his answer.

When he heard Daven laughing, Jay's grin turned into a smirk. He stayed watching her and then gave her a nod about her question about going on a pizza date. Pizza was something that Jay loved and he couldn't wait to have some, especially some with his girlfriend. It'd be a nice little date that he knew he'd enjoy because he had no worry in his mind that the food would disappoint. "Sure." He replied with a smile, reaching his hand out and taking her hand, putting his room key in his pocket and closing his door. His thumb rubbed the back of her hand gently as he intertwined their fingers. "Wanna get a large one and share it? Or two seperates?" Jay asked her, his tone of voice soft as he glanced over at her. Honestly he didn't mind which one she wanted, she's probably the only person he wouldn't mind sharing a pizza with.

Daven smiled as Jay agreed to her idea. Not that she was worried that he would reject her, but she was still a but worried and anxious over this impromptu date idea. But he took her hand and intertwined their fingers and Daven calmed down slightly. She nodded her head as she started leading him towards the elevator. She glanced over at him and smiled at him before she said, “Let's get a large. It seems a bit silly to get two pizzas.” Her smile turned into a smirk as she led him down the hallway. “Besides, that gives us room to get milkshakes or something else!”

Jay followed Daven down to the elevator, pressing the button for the pair once they got close enough so that they could wait for it to reach their level. "Large it is." He replied back with a small laugh, putting his free hand into the pocket of his hoodie. "Milkshakes sound good." Jay agreed, thinking about how nice it would be to have a chocolate milkshake with a scoop of ice cream at the top of it. He wasn't sure how well it'd go down with a pizza as a meal but he didn't really think he'd care, considering the food he was going to be eating during the quest wasn't exactly going to be five star meals. They'd have to make deal with small snacks. "Gonna steal my food?" Jay then decided to ask her quietly, grinning as he leant over and placed a soft kiss on her cheek before stepping into the elevator, leaning back on the railing.

It was nice just being the two of them even though they were in the middle of a quest and they could be attacked at any moment. But Daven couldn't focus on that in the moment. With Jay, she felt safe and she was pretty sure they could handle anything thrown at them. But Jay agreed to her ideas and even kissed her on the cheek before he stepped into the elevator. A blush crept onto Daven's cheeks as she followed after Jay. “I'll only steal it if it looks better than mine,” she said as she nodded her head. She leaned up against the railing next to Jay as she put her head on his shoulder. At least they got the elevator to themselves as it descended to the lobby. “There was a place that looked good that was close to the hotel.”

He rolled his eyes at her comment about stealing his food. People's food always looked better than your own one so he figured that was a bit unfair but he decided to let it past, she was his girlfriend so he should expect that a lot now. "Right." He said with a small laugh, smiling to himself when she leant her head on his shoulder, his hand giving her's a little squeeze. "How convenient..." Jay said with a grin, watching the doors as the elevator descended each one of the levels one by one. He couldn't help but think about the possibility that there will be a monster or something waiting for them when the door opened. What if whilst they were gone Free was attacked? He needed to remind himself that she could look after her self and well...they were as safe as they could be in this situation. Which probably wasn't very safe.

It was nice just being alone with Jay. Not that Freedom was proving to be horrible company, but Daven barely got a chance to be with her boyfriend since they started dating. She sighed contently before the elevator doors opened to the lobby. She picked her head off of Jay's shoulder as she tugged on his hand. She led him through the lobby to outside and down the street where she remembered seeing the restaurant. “Here it is,” she said as she looked up at him and smiled as she squeezed his hand. “I hope you're hungry. It's smells yummy.” And with that, she led him inside the restaurant.

Jay followed her the entire way down to the pizza place, walking closely next to her. It felt nice to be walking around outside of camp as a couple rather than two campers. Everything felt different outside of camp and he was almost beginning to feel like a normal boy, ignoring all the powers and monsters. Monsters of which he wasn't even looking out for currently, he felt relaxed. "I'm always hungry, Daven." He replied back to her, stepping inside of the restaurant with her, holding the door open for her upon entry. Nothing wrong with being a gentleman. Then once inside Jay took a glance around, looking at the interior of it and slightly examining the people. Luckily none of them looked as if they were watching them and waiting for the right time to kill the pair. That was always good.

“You're always hungry,” Daven said with a laugh as she squeezed his hand and took him towards a booth in the back. It was a nice, secluded spot for the two of them and it looked relatively safe for two demigods. Daven sat down and looked at the menu that was on the table.

That's when the wampa attacked. Daven didn't think those existed outside of the Star Wars universe. But one was right there in front of them with its fur as white as snow. Daven barely got a chance to react before it's horn plunged deep into her stomach. There was barely any pain as her vision started to blur around the edges. Was this how it was like to die? Would Jay be okay without her?

Daven immediately snapped out of her morbid daydream as she realized a server stopped by their table asking for their drink order. Daven's face heated up as she gave hers. It'd been awhile since she had one of her morbid daydreams and of course she had to have one in the middle of a date with her boyfriend.

"That's true, food is just good." He replied back to her with a grin, enjoying the feel of her squeezing his hand. Food really was just too good for him to not enjoy having. Even when he was eating, he still wanted more food until he physically couldn't have anymore. Once he had the munchies, it was hard for him to stop eating. It was a wonder he wasn't morbidly obese considering the amount of food he did eat.

Jay sat down on the opposite side of the booth, shifting along the seat and taking a glance around before landing his eyes back on Daven. It seemed as if she was in her own little world, looking out into the diner as if something was standing there ready to kill her...which was understandable considering the circumstances but this was different. He looked up at the waiter as she seemed to snap out of it and then focused back on Daven, giving his order soon after. Once the waiter left to give the duo a couple more minutes to figure out what meal they wanted, Jay stretched his leg out slightly under the table to lean next to hers, brushing it gently. "You okay? Looked like you saw a ghost." He asked her curiously, his tone of voice quiet and soft. Just in case there was any monsters nearby.

Daven took deep breaths as she tried to calm herself from the daydream. It was a while since she had one, but she always forgot how vivid and morbid they got. She subconsciously put a hand on her stomach as the server took their order. Once they left, she felt a leg against hers and she looked over at Jay.

He caught the daydream in action and she didn't want to say anything to him that would worry him further. She shook her head before she said, “I'm okay. It's nothing. I was just lost in my thoughts.” She gave him a reassuring smile as she nudged her leg against his. “It's nothing to worry about.”

"Yeah?" Jay asked softly back to her when she said that her blank staring was nothing to worry about, even if she did look super worried beforehand. He knew they were safe for the time being, surely if there were any monsters nearby they would have done something by now or at least caused suspicions to rise but there was nothing. Just a few normal people sitting and eating their food. "You know you're safe with me, right? Even if there was some dragon or something attacking us, you'd be safe." He then continued on to her with a smile when she nudged her leg against hers, his other leg coming round and gently linking behind hers slightly. Luckily he was tall enough for this to not be uncomfortable and the booth wasn't exactly big.

It was really nothing to worry about. Daven didn't want to bog Jay down with the inner workings and thoughts of her brain, because they were sometimes dark and depressing. Hades, they were dark and depressing a lot of the time before she found out her brother was alive. She looked over at Jay and gave him a reassuring smile just as he let her know she was safe from harm. And dragons, really? "It was a wampa," Daven said quickly as her face heated up a bit. "But I'm pretty sure we're even safe from those here as well." After she said that, she felt his other foot come around and link onto hers. She smirked a bit mischievously as she tapped his foot with hers before deciding to caress the inner part of his calf with her foot.
