[Hailey Nichols]

The plan was going according to plan very well. After that little incident with the three little words, Hailey made sure that everyone knew that she was anything but innocent when she was hanging out with Theo. And her buying some pregnancy tests from the Hermes cabin definitely got the rumor mill going, but there seemed to be a monkey wrench in their plan. A very big one. And Hailey was just a little bit panicked over the whole thing, but she wasn't sure. And she couldn't be sure for a few more days. But she had to tell someone. And that person should've been Theo, but she was scared shitless of his reaction. This would be it. This would be over. She always had a thing for ruining good things.

But he had to know, but it didn't make it any easier. So after crying in her room for a few minutes, she tried to pull herself together as best as she possibly could as she made her way over to his cabin. He had to know. He just had to know. But her heart was thumping in her chest as she took a deep breath before knocking on the door.

Theo chuckled as he read on through a book of polymorph spells he had found and the history behind their use in ancient Greek culture. There was actually quite a few examples in mythology of people being turned into all kinds of things, pigs, jackalopes, deer…trees. Really the list could go on and on and it was surprising just how inventive some of these gods and sorcerers had been with their magic and personally Theo was looking forward to getting to test some of these spells out. Granted some might think Theo would take a little care with this kind of magic being that his girlfriend had some close personal experience with it but Theo was Theo and he was quick to forget about those things especially when the topic turned to Hailey.

His girlfriend…was he really calling her that now? I mean sure they had never really used the words but wasn’t that essentially what he had done that night he had agreed to see her exclusively? It was a bit crazy to think that he had come so far but yet here he was. Hailey was a girl and she was definitely a little more than a friend so what was he still so hung up about? Maybe just the idea was all. He had even come close to using the “L” word himself a time or two. He hadn’t yet of course but still, it was bit scary and he knew he was on a time limit now that it was out in the open. Hailey didn't say it but he knew.

He was just considering that fact when a knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. Giving the door a quizzical look he closed his book and shoved it back on the bookshelf beside his bed. He didn’t know who had come over to visit but he had a pretty good idea and that was strange because he hadn’t been expecting a visit from Hailey today. “Coming. I’m coming.” Walking into the main room of the cabin. Theo gave a quick flick of his wrist and the door opened revealing the enchanting Hailey. Theo smiled to greet her but something immediately seemed off. Still, Theo had never been one to let a little awkwardness stop him and he didn’t intend to start now. “There she is and just as radiant as ever.” Theo’s grin continued even as he began to figure out what was wrong. “I wonder to what I owe the pleasure of her visit.” He walked over to her to get a closer look but sure enough his original assessment of the situation was correct and a look of concern passed over his face. “And I also wonder why she’s been crying. Hailey are you okay?”

She was stupid. She was so stupid. She could've prevented any of this from happening, but she didn't. She was stupid. And Theo was going to see the error of her ways and break up with her. That was the only outcome that Hailey could see. And she feel like she could puke as she waited on the cabin porch. How did she even know he was in there? What if he was out and about around camp? Her question was definitely answered as the door opened and she saw Theo. She breathed a momentary sigh of relief, but she knew the worst was yet to come.

Hailey smiled slightly as Theo started talking, but he caught on quickly that there was something wrong. "No, I'm not," Hailey said as she shook her head. She wasn't going to beat around the bush. That would only delay the inevitable. "You know that plan we had? About tricking camp?" She closed her eyes as she shook her head. "We fucked up. I'm... I'm late..." She whispered out the last word before she broke down into tears again.

There was definitely something going on here. Hailey began talking quickly but she wasn’t making a whole lot of sense really. Not only was she bringing up really old stuff but no matter what she said Theo could tell when she had been crying and he didn’t like it. Girls crying tended to mean bad things and he was decidedly against all bad things. Yet she continued on talking about that old joke they had planned on the camp and something about being late. Confusing stuff but then girls usually were.

“Yeah I remember that plan. It was a good one too. I believe you were going to pretend you were pregnant. That would get some rumors started pretty quick eh?” He gave her what he hoped was a placating look but somehow didn’t think that it would be enough. He was missing something here. He just didn’t know what it was. “Late? Late for what? Hailey my dear it’s not like we missed a deadline or anything. If you want to prank the camp then it’s not like we won’t be able to choose another time if you know what I mean. Come on in. Why don’t you have a seat and tell me what’s really going on.”

Theo just didn't get it. He really didn't get what was going on at all. They messed up and majorly at that. And her crying and only thinking of the wrong words to say wasn't helping at all. But he was right in some way. She didn't need to make this big of a commotion on the porch of his cabin. She nodded her head as she walked into his cabin and sat down on the first chair-looking thing she could find. She placed her head in her hands as she kept crying, but also trying to find the strength to tell him.

"I'm... I'm not late to an event... Not that kind of late," she said through the tears as she looked up at Theo. "I'm late as in... shit... Theo I might actually be pregnant."

Hailey came in but she didn’t stop crying. In fact she just plopped down in the first chair she found and cried all the louder and for the life of him Theo couldn’t figure out what he had done to cause this. See this is why he didn’t do relationships. When you did relationships you had to always be worried about what you did to make the other person upset and if you were a guy like Theo doing things to upset the other person tended to be par for the course. Here he was though and Hailey was crying so he must have done something.

Theo walked over and waited for her to explain. When she did though what she said slapped him in the face so hard that almost didn’t catch it. “Look Hailey whatever it is we can…” He started but as her words sank in he stopped short. “Wait. What?” Pregnant? Had she said pregnant? Surely she hadn’t because “pregnant” meant that she was PREGNANT![/i][/u] and that just didn’t happen. True Theo never had stayed with anyone long enough to find out if he had gotten them pregnant but surely he had heard wrong...surely. “Hailey dear, I must have misheard you.” He chuckled albeit with a little more nervousness than his usual smug cockiness allowed. “For a second there I thought you said you were pregnant.”

The world was ending. It was completely ending and it was all her fault. Why did she have to be so stupid? It was supposed to be a prank, but it wasn't really even a prank if it was true. She sat there crying some more as Theo tried to process it all. And from the sounds of things, he was taking the news just as well as she was, which was making her cry hard. She stayed like this for a few minutes before she calmed down enough to talk to him.

"I... I might be..." she said as she reached up to wipe the tears from her eyes. "I don't know... My period's late Theo and I can't take a test for a few more days... for all I know, I actually could be..." She couldn't finish her sentence as she broke down into another sob. "I'm so sorry." She whispered to him through all the tears.

Hailey was pretty upset about all of this. Theo wanted to get up and comfort her but he was pretty damn upset about this too and no matter what he tried to do he couldn’t seem to make his muscles respond to any other command than just sitting here in this chair. This didn’t happen to him. He wasn’t ready to settle down or start a family. He barely even planned ahead far enough to know when the next meal was let alone planning for a kid and here Hailey was telling him she was pregnant.

But not really…at least she wasn’t sure yet. She was late but she wasn’t late enough to know. So that meant the game wasn’t up yet. There might still be a chance. He might not be caught yet after all. “Alright, alright.” He said still trying to kick his brain into gear to start thinking this through. “You don’t know yet. You aren’t sure so you may be getting all worked up about nothing right? This may all just be something you ate or stress right? Stress can cause it. Have you been stressed out lately?” His mind was racing. There had to be a way out of this. Had to be and he was going to find it. “Come on Hailey work with me here. Crying about this isn’t going to help and we don’t know anything for certain yet.”

Theo wasn't yelling at her. And he wasn't upset at her, as far as she could tell, but Hailey still royally screwed up. Maybe Artemis was right. Maybe all this messing around only got her in trouble. Maybe she was still better off being in her jackalope form... She reached up to brush away the most recent tears as she looked at Theo. "I don't know yet," she said as she repeated his words. But maybe he was right. Maybe there was something more causing this than a baby. She thought about it some more as she sniffled a bit.

"I mean..." she said as she wiped away more tears. "There's the whole evil twin running around thing. And those rumors floating around camp about me." She sighed as she shook her head. "You're probably right. I'm probably overreacting to this."

Breathe Theo. Just breathe. Everything was under control. That’s what he kept telling himself at least, that everything was under control, there was nothing to worry about and this would all turn out in their favor like it usually did. The more he told himself that however, the more he found himself fighting that natural flight instinct he had. Hailey seemed to be calming down at least so that was a good place to start.

“Right so see there’s lots of stressful stuff going on right now. It’s best not to worry until we know for sure right?” Was he handling this right? He didn’t know. He had never been in a situation like this and none of his usual easy going charm had prepared him for this. That said he was really starting to wish they hadn’t gone in together to start those rumors. What a dumb idea that had been and if it did turn out she was pregnant well the joke was on them now. “Alright let’s think about this okay? When do you think you would be able to take a test or something?”

Theo was right. There was a ton of stressful stuff going on in her life at the moment, so that could explain why she was late. However, she couldn't shake the feeling that stress wasn't the sole factor in why it was late. She pushed her hair out of her face as she sighed. Only time could tell, as Theo reminded her.

“This weekend is when I'll be able to know,” she pressed her lips together as she looked over at Theo. “That's when I'll be late enough to take one of the at home tests. Unless my period comes before then… that would be a relief, actually.” She chuckled a bit at that statement because of its irony.

Theo ran his fingers through his hair. Things were sounding a little better. Albeit he wouldn’t be able to breathe easy until they knew for sure but this was something. At least he hoped it was something. Argh…he didn’t know. This was frustrating and not the way he had expected to start out his day.

“This weekend…” He repeated thinking about how far away that seemed now. He had never been one to worry about things but he had also never been waiting to find out if he was a father before either. “…We can do that.” Letting out a sigh Theo looked over at Hailey wandering it she had really calmed down as much as she seemed to. He wasn’t really sure what he needed to do now but it felt like there was something. “Do you want me to…I don’t know, come over or something until you figure it out? I mean I can get you a test so you don’t have to.”
