Breathe Theo. Just breathe. Everything was under control. That’s what he kept telling himself at least, that everything was under control, there was nothing to worry about and this would all turn out in their favor like it usually did. The more he told himself that however, the more he found himself fighting that natural flight instinct he had. Hailey seemed to be calming down at least so that was a good place to start.

“Right so see there’s lots of stressful stuff going on right now. It’s best not to worry until we know for sure right?” Was he handling this right? He didn’t know. He had never been in a situation like this and none of his usual easy going charm had prepared him for this. That said he was really starting to wish they hadn’t gone in together to start those rumors. What a dumb idea that had been and if it did turn out she was pregnant well the joke was on them now. “Alright let’s think about this okay? When do you think you would be able to take a test or something?”

"The Clown Menace eh? Now that's an interesting one." Theo said as he consider this new title. "That's good. No one likes clowns. Not really. I mean think about it. Would you rather run into a Cyclops or a clown after midnight? I'd take the Cyclops every time. Not sure it would work as a title though. Got to have the face paint to pull it off and I look terrible in makeup." Theo supposed he couldn't really blame the guy. He certainly played the role sometimes but 'clown' wasn't really what he was hoping for here.

"The Joker. Now there's a good clown title. Again, already taken but hey we might be on to something here and at least a title like that would cone with a little pre-built history with it. Certainly save me some trouble I would think." This guy seemed to be able to hang with him pretty well. Sure he wasn't much of a talker but Theo respected anyone who could keep up with his ability to take control of a conversation. Seth also had a bit of a sense of humor as cynical as it seemed. Luckily that was just the type of attitude Theo liked.

Cabin 13 was interesting though. That meant Seth was a Hades kid which probably explained a lot. Still, Theo wasn't about to let that stop him from finding out more about this interesting new acquaintance he had met. "Unlucky 13 huh? Well that is a bummer. Here I was hoping you were a Hermes guy. Guess it's not so bad if you have coffee though. So long as you're offering I guess I'm game for stopping by then.

“Any quips? Hmmm…” Theo said as he resumed walking with the Hades camper apparently without noticing the terse answer. He had noticed of course but in general he didn’t let what other people thought guide his decisions. That being the case he had chosen to ignore it for now preferring rather to see how far he could push things. “Well I’m normally pretty good at quips, live by them really because they certainly make life more fun but in your case? Naaaaaah. Besides, you seemed to do a pretty good job at putting your own self down just now. Probably don’t need my assistance with that.”

Theo chuckled and gave Seth a good natured clap on the back like he was an old friend. “Shadow of Death though. That’s a good one. How does one go about getting something ominous like that especially when most of the good titles are taken? I mean you don’t see many Impaler’s walking around. Vlad Dracul wrapped that one up pretty tight.” Theo shook his head in thought. “Pity. I mean I guess I could walk around calling myself the Sorcerer Supreme or something fancy like that but that one’s already been taken too and the Great Theodini just doesn’t have that nice ring to it you know?”

He could go on. Theo was exceptionally good at carrying on conversations especially when they were one sided and about himself but for this little experiment he wasn’t really trying to inflate his ego, well too much in any case. “But no, I tend to reserve my quips for those who deserve it and by deserve I mean don’t expect it. Much funnier that way and less of a hassle. You should try it sometime. It’s a great way to relieve stress which, come to think of it, might be a reason why you find yourself on the receiving end so much. Do you tend to stress people out do you know? If so I may have found your problem.”

There was definitely something going on here. Hailey began talking quickly but she wasn’t making a whole lot of sense really. Not only was she bringing up really old stuff but no matter what she said Theo could tell when she had been crying and he didn’t like it. Girls crying tended to mean bad things and he was decidedly against all bad things. Yet she continued on talking about that old joke they had planned on the camp and something about being late. Confusing stuff but then girls usually were.

“Yeah I remember that plan. It was a good one too. I believe you were going to pretend you were pregnant. That would get some rumors started pretty quick eh?” He gave her what he hoped was a placating look but somehow didn’t think that it would be enough. He was missing something here. He just didn’t know what it was. “Late? Late for what? Hailey my dear it’s not like we missed a deadline or anything. If you want to prank the camp then it’s not like we won’t be able to choose another time if you know what I mean. Come on in. Why don’t you have a seat and tell me what’s really going on.”

Theo chuckled as he read on through a book of polymorph spells he had found and the history behind their use in ancient Greek culture. There was actually quite a few examples in mythology of people being turned into all kinds of things, pigs, jackalopes, deer…trees. Really the list could go on and on and it was surprising just how inventive some of these gods and sorcerers had been with their magic and personally Theo was looking forward to getting to test some of these spells out. Granted some might think Theo would take a little care with this kind of magic being that his girlfriend had some close personal experience with it but Theo was Theo and he was quick to forget about those things especially when the topic turned to Hailey.

His girlfriend…was he really calling her that now? I mean sure they had never really used the words but wasn’t that essentially what he had done that night he had agreed to see her exclusively? It was a bit crazy to think that he had come so far but yet here he was. Hailey was a girl and she was definitely a little more than a friend so what was he still so hung up about? Maybe just the idea was all. He had even come close to using the “L” word himself a time or two. He hadn’t yet of course but still, it was bit scary and he knew he was on a time limit now that it was out in the open. Hailey didn't say it but he knew.

He was just considering that fact when a knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. Giving the door a quizzical look he closed his book and shoved it back on the bookshelf beside his bed. He didn’t know who had come over to visit but he had a pretty good idea and that was strange because he hadn’t been expecting a visit from Hailey today. “Coming. I’m coming.” Walking into the main room of the cabin. Theo gave a quick flick of his wrist and the door opened revealing the enchanting Hailey. Theo smiled to greet her but something immediately seemed off. Still, Theo had never been one to let a little awkwardness stop him and he didn’t intend to start now. “There she is and just as radiant as ever.” Theo’s grin continued even as he began to figure out what was wrong. “I wonder to what I owe the pleasure of her visit.” He walked over to her to get a closer look but sure enough his original assessment of the situation was correct and a look of concern passed over his face. “And I also wonder why she’s been crying. Hailey are you okay?”

Every bone in his body was screaming at him right now. This was not him. He was not the guy to stay. He was not the guy to get tied down. He had never made even this kind of commitment to someone and yet he liked Hailey. He liked her a lot. He liked her and he didn’t want to hurt her especially not like this. Still, he was not a new person, at least he didn’t think so, and years of bad habits made him wonder if he could even make good on his promise to her.

Hailey seemed content with his offer though and that, for the moment at least, was good. She could live it and he supposed they were going to find out if he could live with it too and if he could…well maybe that was an answer to his question of what this was.

“Thanking me?” Theo gave a little chuckle and moved closer to Hailey who he thought was looking quite vulnerable at the moment. He put an arm around her and held her close. “Those other times really did a number on you huh? Look, I don’t know what happened in the past but it’s done with now. Nobody is going to turn you into a jackalope this time and well, so far I think we’ve got a pretty good thing going. You don’t have to be afraid of it. Just enjoy it okay?”

Forget she said it? How could you just forget someone said something like that? The answer was that you couldn't. It was out there now and no matter how much Hailey wanted to, ignoring it was obviously not going to help. This was why love always complicated things and Theo couldn't understand why it was so important to have that kind of drama involved in what he and Hailey had been sharing.

"Come on Hailey that's not fair." He said as he watched her roll over in bed. He knew he was probably just inviting more punishment but neither of them would be getting any sleep tonight if they left things like this. He just wanted her to see his side. It wasn't like this was easy for him. "It's not something that either of us can just ignore. Damn it Hailey what am I suppose to do? Just talk to me."
