Doggo Tea Party | Drake

Kaylee really enjoyed being around Drake and his dog Timber. But if she was going to be a little bit honest, she tended to like Timber over Drake, not that it was a bad thing. But sometimes, Kaylee just wanted to steal Timber away, dognap if you will, and just spend a couple of hours with only him. She missed her dog back at home, so Timber filled in that gap in her life just a little bit. So one morning, Kaylee saw Timber away from Drake so she obviously did the only thing she could think of: steal him away for a tea party in the garden.

And it was a fabulous tea party. Kaylee had a fancy table set up and she had Timber up on a chair with an apron and a dainty little hat. The dog just looked content to be there as Kaylee was giggling to herself as she was serving the tea to her and her doggy companion.

And a very content doggy companion Timber made as he sat in front of Kaylee. He had found his new favorite playmate outside while he was running around and in traditional Kaylee fashion she was lavishing him in attention which he loved. Timber had no problem being dressed up and being led around by the giggling girl. To the contrary he was quite content to soak up all of her attention and now he sat happily wagging his tail and panting excitedly as she poured some bitter smelling water into a bowl for him. Timber wasn’t sure what it was but he was sure he was having a good time.

The only person who wasn’t having a good time was Drake. The son of Chione had spent much of the afternoon looking for his dog and while Timber was certainly no stranger to running off by himself when he got off his chain and out of his pin usually Drake had no trouble finding him. Today was different though and after a few hours searching the streets of New Rome he was starting to get worried. Where had Timber gotten off to and if Danielle was responsible for this he didn’t know if he would be able to forgive her or not.

“Tiiiiiiiiiiiimber!” He called as he headed towards the gardens. “Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimber! Geez, people are going to think I’m training to be a lumberjack or something at this rate…” Sighing Drake ran a hand through his hair and stepped into the gardens. He really didn’t know where else his dog could be. Timber always stayed close to home but he had searched the city all over and if Drake didn’t find the dog soon he was getting ready to go into full blown panic mode.

Fortunately it didn’t seem like things would have to go that far as when Drake rounded a corner he was suddenly presented with the strangest sight that he had seen in a while. There was Timber and he was sitting by a girl that Drake was very familiar with but stranger still was that the dog, his dog, was dressed up like he was going to some kind of party with a fancy apron and hat. Drake had to stop in his tracks and do a double take but sure enough when he looked back the vision was still there. What in the frozen layer of Hades was going on here?

“Timber?” He asked still completely confused. “What did she do to you boy?” Drake shook his head as he walked over. “Kaylee? Whatcha got going on here hmm?”

Kaylee was having a grand ole time. It was her and Timber in the middle of the gardens having a tea party. How could this day get any more perfect? She sat there giggling as she poured the tea. She didn't think that Timber would drink it up, so she had a thing of water just in case so he wouldn't get hydrated. Once she was done serving the tea, she reached down to grab her teacup and take a sip. And that's when Timber's owner showed up.

"Oh Drake!" she said as she saw the boy and put her teacup down. "We were just starting our tea party. Timber's being a very good guest." She stood up and walked over to Drake as she reached over to grab his hand to walk him over to the table. "Would you care to join us? The more the merrier they always say."

Drake couldn’t help but chuckle. Here he was looking all over Rome for his dog and it turned out that he was sitting here all dressed up and having a tea party of all things. He guessed he should probably be mad that Kaylee had dognapped poor Timber but just looking at the situation before him he was finding it hard to do anything but laugh and the fact that Kaylee was talking to him like this was all normal made it even better.

“A tea party huh?” He said and he hunkered down beside his dog giving the pupper a good back scratch. “I think this might be a first for him but it’s good to hear he’s been behaving.” Seeing Kaylee stop pouring Timber lowered his head and began to lap at the bowl thirstily. Now that Drake was here too he really didn’t have any need to be any place else and he could just enjoy himself while the humans talked. “I guess I could hang out for a bit. It’s the least I could do since you’ve been keeping my dog company. Have you two been having fun?”

Kaylee smiled as Drake agreed to join their tea party. Once he sat down next to Timber, Kaylee got another teacup set out of the basket next to her for Drake. Once he had his teacup and saucer, she poured him tea as well before she poured tea for herself, since the hostess was always served last. "He's behaving very politely for a first time tea party guest," Kaylee said with a giggle before she finally set down the teapot and started adding a ton of sugar into her tea. She liked tea, but she liked it to be as sweet as possible otherwise it was kind of hard to drink. "But we've been having lots of fun. I even got to play dress up with him," she said as she nodded her head towards Timber's apron and hat. "Do you want some?" she asked once she stopped adding sugar and handed the sugar bowl to Drake.

“I can see that.” He said and Kaylee mentioned his dog being a good party guest. “I’m glad you two have been having a good time.” Drake didn’t know if he believed that totally or not but he supposed he really couldn’t blame Timber. Here he was being a good party guest himself and all because Kaylee had asked him to join her. Oh well he supposed he had done stranger things in his life and that smile was pretty addicting.

Drake watched as Kaylee poured him some tea and nodded when she offered him the sugar. “Please. I’m not really a big tea drinker but sugar does make everything better.” He chuckled and took the sugar bowl from Kaylee to add some to his cup. Not as much a Kaylee did herself but still enough to take some of the bitterness off. With that done he took the cup and cooled it off with a puff of his frosty breath. “Can’t believe you would need that much though. You seem sweet enough to me.” He really hadn’t meant anything by it well, maybe a little but it was mostly an innocent statement. Kaylee really was nice and Drake liked her. When a lot of other people could have gotten pretty fed up with the world she seemed to be unaffected. That made her okay in his book. “So how have you been Kaylee aside from keeping my dog company that is?”

"I find that tea really is better with sugar," Kaylee said with a shrug as she brought the cup up to her lips to cool it off with her breath. "Otherwise, I find the texture of it weird. It's too much flavor for something that's basically water." She took a sip as her eyes glanced between Timber and Drake. If she didn't know any better, she would've sworn that they were veteran tea party goers. She set her cup down right as Drake said she was sweet enough. She looked at him all puzzled. She couldn't really figure out what he meant by it. She knew for a fact that she wasn't made of sugar. But she didn't really let it bother her too much as Drake asked her another question.

"Oh, I've been well. You know, doing legion practice and stuff. I've gotten better with holding the flags during the war games." She giggled and smiled to herself as she was very proud of that achievement. Someone had to make sure the banners didn't touch the ground.

"I can agree with that." Drake said as he considered her thoughts on the sugar. Fortunately it seemed his compliment had gone unnoticed. He still wasn't quite sure what Kaylee thought of him other than just hanging out with him as a friend and it wasn't worth scaring her away because he did think she was a pretty cool girl. "I don't know how so many people drink it bitter like that. Same way with coffee really."

Drake reached over to scratch Timber behind the ears as Kaylee continued talking and gave her a grin as she went on about holding the flag for her cohort. He imagined things would be a little different if Kaylee was in the first but being that she was in the fifth he was glad they had found a way to let her contribute. "Oh yeah?" Drake said with interest. "You know I've seen you out there during field exercises. It always make you easy to pick out on the battlefield. I would come over to talk but I think my sister would kill me if the praetor and centurions didn't get to me first. Still, you look good out there. Definitely looks like you know what you're doing."

"I hate bitter things," Kaylee said as she scrunched up her face with a disgusted look on her face. "I don't know how people do it either. I know I couldn't do it on a daily basis if I had to." She made sure that the sugar was dissolved into her tea.... or mostly dissolved since she put so much in her cup before she took a sip. She glanced over at Timber who looked happy to be there. That brought a smile to her face, since him and Buddy acted a lot alike. It was nice to get a little reminder of home.

She smiled a bit as Drake said he would try to visit her during exercises if other people didn't stop him first. "You have a sister?" she said as she lowered the cup from her lips. "I don't think you've mentioned her before."

“Oh yeah!” Drake said with a bit of surprise that he hadn’t mentioned Danielle until now. “Twin sister actually but we don’t have any cool twin super powers though. Unless you count having a super dog as one. Bummer I know.” Taking a sip of his tea Drake wondered for a moment how Danielle would take him hanging out with Kaylee. He didn’t really think Danielle’s cohort pride ran deep enough for her to think anything bad but there were certainly some who might look down on him for hanging out with a 5th cohort girl. Drake didn’t really mind what others thought of course but still he did wonder what his sister would say.

“Her name is Danielle and don’t tell her I forgot to mention her. She will probably knock me out if she knew I forgot.” Drake chuckled a little. He was mostly kidding about his sister…mostly. Danielle probably would have some words for him if she knew he had forgotten to mention her though. “I should introduce you two sometime but she’s not as fun to hang out with as yours truly.”

Drake had a sibling? Not only a sibling, but a twin? That was fascinating to Kaylee, especially since it seemed like demigods tended to be only children, like herself. “That's really cool that you have a twin,” she said with a bit of a smile. “I wish I has twin. Or even a brother or sister, but I don't. I just have my dog Buddy back at home.” She glanced over at Timber before a thought hit her like lightning. “Does Danielle also like Timber? He's any awfully good boy.” She giggled to herself as she reached out to scratch the dog behind the ears.

Drake chuckled at the thought of Danielle liking Timber. He didn’t know if there was any universe in which his sister would accept his doggo friend. He had tried to get her over her fears but usually she just got mad at him. Granted he had exploited her fears a few times as well but how could he help it when it was so easy? Needless to say though Danielle definitely did not like Timber or any other dog for that matter.

“Not as such.” He said with a smile as he watched Timber happily wag his tail in response to Kaylee’s attention. “Danielle isn’t really a dog person. Crazy right? I guess you’ll just have to keep being Timber’s friend in her place. He likes you. I do too for that matter. You’re a pretty cool girl Kaylee.”
