Anya hated war games. That's why she had picked up a bow despite it's less favorable reputation amongst the Legion. She didn't like fighting and she didn't like fighting up close and personal even more. She also hated that ridiculous feud between cohorts and how her cohort was supposed to be comprised of losers that you were allowed to beat up if only 'encourage' them to 'shape up'. That had been exactly the kind of thinking the son of Mars from First Cohort had used when he had literally cut her down as he had stormed the wall of the fort she and couple more archers were defending.
Her bow had been cut in half and she had a really nasty cut over her right shoulder that stopped short at her chest. The worst part for Anya had been the blood on her hand once she tried to press her wound down. It was her own blood running down her arm and soaking her sleeve. It had been a cause for freezing in place and hyperventilating. She had been more or less carried to the infirmary as if she was some sort of statue and had been left at a stretcher as her fellow legionnaires had gone of in search of a healer.

Alex hated the war games. He could understand the Legion’s need for training. He could understand why they needed to practice real to life scenarios of sieges and battles. What he couldn’t understand is why the cohorts insisted on going head to head with each other in some kind of full force death match. Why couldn’t they use practice weapons or, Mars be damned, at least try not to purposefully kill each and fill up his infirmary with all manner of wounded and people in need of urgent care? He supposed he should be used to it by now as many times as he had dealt with the aftermath but there had to be a better way than this.
Fortunately the games were almost over. The wounded were still trickling in but for the most part the worst of the injuries had already been dealt with or at least they had been until some 5th cohort members rushed up to him exclaiming about some hysterical girl who nearly got cut in half. He wasn’t sure he caught all of the details but the legionnaires proceeded to drag him away and before he knew it he was led to a stretcher with a hyperventilating blonde girl who looked like she was having a panic attack right before his eyes.
Alex gave a silent nod sending the legionnaires back to their duties and stepped closer to the stretcher giving the girl’s injury a once over. The cut over her shoulder was bad but hardly as life threatening as the legionnaires had lead him to believe. There was a lot of blood but nothing that he couldn’t handle. His immediate concern however was the girl’s mental state. She didn’t look good at all and he didn’t need a panicky patient while he was trying to work. Fortunately as he stepped closer he realized that he recognized the girl as well and that was something that he hoped to use to his advantage.
“You’re Anya right?” He said as he moved over beside her. He sounded calm, cordial even, not wanting to work the girl up any more than she already was. “Do you remember me from the party the other night?” He didn’t need to use his father’s powers to see the problem. She was in shock and probably in a lot of pain but he needed to make sure that she wasn’t going to hurt herself before he started working. “I’m Alex remember? We spent some time talking while you waited for your friend.”
