Dakota was a bit satisfied with how that encounter went with that patient as she walked over to Ash. Hopefully he learned a thing or two from that. She pulled her gloves off and tossed them in the trash as she looked over as Ash was asking her a question. Why keep them longer than they wanted to be? She shrugged as she looked over at Ash.
“Mostly to make sure there's no complications,” she said with a bit if a sad smile. “It's probably more common in mortal medicine, but they keep them longer to make sure there isn't a allergic reaction or any more issues that were underlying. I know everybody here thinks it's not necessary, but I was in nursing school before this demigod stuff came up.”

The stubborn patient in the back came in earlier after a session on the climbing wall went wrong. Even if Ash thought they needed to kick him to the curb, Dakota was determined to help this patient out and show Ash that gentle touch. Dakota was pretty sure the patient had a dislocated shoulder and possible fractures to their collarbone. She nodded to Ash towards the patient as she walked over to them. "And how are we doing today?" she asked as she approached the patient. She smiled as she put on examination gloves and started touching the patient along the shoulders. "And what exactly happened?" And while they were going off, she was able to feel which shoulder was dislocated. She waited for them to take a breath before she moved it back into place without any warning. They cried out in pain, but she had a smirk on her lips as she fetched a piece of ambrosia out of her pockets to give to them. "You would've complained if I warned you," she said as she glanced over at Ash. "But eat up. You should be healed up in an hour and be ready to go."

Dakota had no clue how this conversation was going to go or how Ash would take the news. Not only that, but she was concerned how it would affect their relationship since he only took on shifts in the infirmary to spend more time with her. However, it seemed like he was willing to learn a gentler touch, which brought Dakota relief. She wasn't really sure how she was going to go about firing her boyfriend from infirmary duty anyhow.
"Okay," she said as she nodded her head. "There isn't any harm in shadowing me." She visibly relaxed as she nodded over towards the back of the infirmary. "I'll start off with showing you how I deal with the stubborn one back here."

Dakota knew this wasn't going to be an easy conversation at all, but it was one that had to be done, especially if lava dunking advice was being given. She pressed her lips together as she tried to search for the right words as Ash was considering what she just said. Sure, some people needed some hard love, but sometimes Ash was a little too hard. But he could tell that something was wrong and brought it up. The jig was up. She had to tell him. She sighed as she loosened up her crossed arms a bit. "Ash, I love that you agreed to help out in the infirmary, but I don't think it's a good match," she finally admitted with an apologetic smile. "You kind of need a.... gentle touch around here and the other campers don't think you're that gentle." She nodded her head towards where the other camper ran off to. "Besides, it's a matter of time we hear from Chiron about that because that guy complained."

Dakota was surprised that Ash agreed to helping out in the infirmary. It meant that would be able to spend just a little bit more time together than they were already, but it was proven to be difficult. The infirmary was somehow seeing less patients than usual and people kept complaining about Ash and his bedside manner. Dakota was in denial for the longest time, but on one particularly slow day, she decided to just observe Ash. But she saw the whole thing go down with the Dionysus kid and she couldn't help but shake her head as she approached him.
"Hey, Ash?" she said as she got closer as she crossed her arms over her chest as she was trying to figure out the right words to say to him. "You really..." She pursed her lips together before she continued, "You really shouldn't tell patients to dunk their head in the lava flow. That's not very good medical advice."

Dakota smiled to herself as she shifted herself in Ash's arms just a bit. "Your nurse knows best," she said with a slight chuckle as she opened her eyes to look up at Ash. She smirked a bit to herself as she chuckled a bit. "C'mon... it's not that bad to be under my care, is it?" She shifted herself so she propped herself onto her side and elbow as she picked up her head as she looked down at Ash. She gave him a once over as her smirk grew a little bigger. "I think you can get away with private examinations," she said before she leaned over to kiss Ash once more.

"That was amazing, wasn't it?" Dakota said as she smiled to herself. She was glad that her first time was with Ash and not with somebody else. With Ash, she felt safe and cared for. Plus loved, but that was an obvious one. She sighed once more as she felt her body wanting to drift off to sleep and it didn't help that Ash made a comfortable pillow. "I think your injuries need looked at the morning," she said with a bit of a smirk as she snuggled up even closer to him. "I think you were getting a little vigorous at one point. I should check to make sure it didn't open up scabs or made any of them deeper."

And Ash had no reason to stop kissing her that night. That night, they shared a bind deeper than they had ever known. It was exhilarating, but also reaffirmed their love for each other. It was several hours later before the kissing stopped and Dakota was curled up next to Ash. To think how her day began and what followed afterwards, Dakota wouldn't trade this moment for anything. She sighed contently as her eyes fluttered close. She experienced a lot of excitement that day and her body wanted her to rest. “I love you,” she muttered to Ash as she let out a content sigh.

Dakota smirked to herself and shook her head as Ash said he was okay riding out to rescue her. She managed to clean up everything and put it on her nightstand before she felt Ash's arms around her waist as she was tugged closer to him. She was close enough to him that there was barely any space between their lips. But then he said it. She had half a mind to tease him a little, but considering she almost lost him earlier that day....
“I love you,” she whispered to him as she leaned in to kiss him gently. Her arms moved to wrap around his neck as she gently pressed up against him.

Maybe I’ve just found a nurse I like fixing me up.” Dakota smirked to herself at that comment as she finished up fixing him up. Thankfully, there weren't too many wounds and all of them missed the major arteries. “I think I'm up to it as long as you promise me you won't get into anymore conspiracy theories with homicidal maniacs.”
And with that, she finished up cleaning his last wound. “All done,” she said as she started cleaning up all the supplies she had scattered about the bed. “And don't worry, I don't part the damsel in distress role frequently so there's no need for saving me often.”

Dakota tended to each wound, making sure it was all cleaned up before she bandaged it up and moved onto the next one. She sort of got into a pattern, more like a trance, as she cleaned Ash's wounds one by one. At least she wouldn't be dragging out the stitches. That would make this moment a more painful one. She looked up to Ash as he started to say something, half-expecting for him to complain about some pain.
But he didn't. Instead, he spoke of the first time they had met. She laughed slightly as she shook her head. "Of course I remember it. You have a habit of banging yourself up really good, don't you?" she said with a smirk before she went back to cleaning his wounds. "I might have to keep a closer eye on you if this is going to become a habit of yours."

It was really all over. The danger and immediate threat was gone. Dakota saw it for herself as she walked with Ash back to Rusher so they could get out of the forest. But it was over and it felt like there was no longer anything between them. The trip back seemed to take forever, but they were finally back at Dakota's cabin and she was leading Ash back to her room. Once they were inside, she closed the door behind them as she went over to her medical supplies. "Make yourself comfy on the bed," she said as she grabbed various medical supplies. Once she had everything she needed, she carried them over to the bed as she sat down next to Ash. She grabbed one of his arms and started tending to it with hydrogen peroxide and butterfly-style bandages. She would do this to every one of his wounds until he was patched up to her standards, not the low standards of the infirmary. (tag: Ashley Bates ) |

If she loved him, then love him? That sounded pretty easy to hear, especially with the passionate look that Ash gave her before their lips locked. This kiss was definitely different from any of their previous kisses. There was an extra spark in it. An extra spark and a tug that wanted her to go further. But common sense got the best of her and she had to break away from his lips eventually, even if she really didn't want to.
"Let's go back to my place," she said between breaths as she reluctantly pulled away from his lips. "I can patch you up there without the staring eyes of the infirmary." She looked at him and nodded her head before she reached out to gently tug her arm. In her mind, she was already several steps past her fixing him up, but she had to focus on one step at a time. "Please?"

Kissing Ash was always amazing, but this kiss was more than amazing. Dakota couldn't exactly put her finger on it, but no matter what it was still good. And it had to end eventually. Ash pulled away from her lips as she smiled a bit and sighed softly. She opened her eyes to look at him and something was renewed in him. She laughed at his joke as she shook her head. He rarely joked, but it was almost perfect that he cracked one out now.
"Nah," she said as she shook her head slightly. "I've had plenty of time to think about it and no second thoughts." She looked up at him as she smirked a bit. "And I can promise you that. I love you, Ash."

It was such a simple statement. Just three words, but those were three words that Dakota was afraid of until now. And yet they flowed off her tongue so easily. Maybe because she really felt it in the moment, especially since she almost lost Ash without knowing it. She watched his face light up as he finally understood what she just said. It was nothing really, but it was so major between the two of them.
She smiled a bit wider as he leaned in and whispered back to her. She knew how he had felt about her for a while and now she finally shared those same feelings back. She didn't say anything back to him, if she wanted say anything back to him, before his lips found hers. This kiss was different from all of the other kisses they had shared. Maybe because it had a deeper connection to it. Dakota smiled against Ash's lips as she kissed him back.
