Dear sweet gods of Rome it was like a fairy got together with a unicorn and they had a baby made of rainbows and pixie dust. What on Earth was a Cuddlebug? Jen was fairly certain that she didn't want to know but she wasn't really surprised that a name like that had been thrown out there in reference to something. She just hoped that whatever it was Kaylee hadn’t brought it with her or that would add something else for the girl to torment Jen's life with.
"To answer our question yes, it is and that's your loss." Jen stood by her original assessment that the girl needed to lose the sweet and innocent routine but she wasn't going to fight it. Instead for the moment she turned her mind to thinking about how she could get rid of this Kaylee girl. It probably wasn't going to be easy but unless she wanted to start losing her sanity she needed to think of something. "If I go to the sick bay will you leave me alone about it?"

Jen had only known this dancing, laughing girl for a few seconds but she could already tell that they would get along just fine. The girl was Jen's kind of party goer, loud, wild and not afraid to have a little fun. She could respect that as that was her own default frame of mind as well. To prove as much Jen hooted her agreement to the girl's statement and took a long swig from her cup as she watched the other girl glance back to a group of people and shouted for them to come join.
Jen watched the exchange between the girls finding herself slightly intrigued by the fact that she recognized at least one of them as the legions fearless Praetor and at a party no less. "Well I'll be damned." She said wonderingly. "If it isn't the queen bee herself. Friends of yours?" Jen nodded to Chey and Vega across the way and grinned over at Mac when she introduced herself. "I'm Jen and it looks like I've found the right crowd to hang out with tonight. Lucky me."

This girl couldn’t get any more shiny and pure if she was Diana’s impenetrable lady bits and it was getting tiring. What Kaylee needed was a good night out on the town to get drunk, to get stoned, maybe even have a roll with one of the Roman boys in the city, anything to loosen her up a little bit and open her mind to what she was missing out there. There was nothing wrong with having a little fun every once in a while and it wasn’t like you had to drink too much. Jen just got carried away sometimes, well, a lot of times.
She didn’t like being scolded though especially while she had a hangover. She got enough of that from her CO’s and didn’t need it now. Raising her head despite the pain she opened eyes that were puffy and bloodshot to glare at the sun drop. “Didn’t anyone every tell you not to knock it until you try it? You don’t always get sick and the fun is more than worth it the times that you don’t.”

Hangovers were bad. Well that much was obvious. Real grade A deductive reasoning there. Jen was just about to say as much when miss sugar plum fairy actually shouted out the correct answer surprising Jen and bringing about a sharp pain in her head that felt like an ice pick through her eye socket. Jen groaned uncomfortably noticing that the girl had happily ignored her request to tone down the cheerful vibes but at least she was on the right track even if she probably didn't know what you drank to get a hangover.
Jen decided that was something she didn't want to go into at this point. She also decided to drop the sick bay argument too. It wasn't really something you could explain unless you had been through one and right now she didn't want to deal with this girl's questions let alone the doctors or nurses who would be charged with looking over her. Instead she decided to focus on the girl's other question. "No one wants a hangover but people do like to drink because it's fun and when they drink to much they get them. It's an unfortunate trade off."

Shoes? What the hell was this little cupcake talking about? Jen didn’t know and wasn’t sure if she wanted to know but if Kaylee was any sweeter Jen swore she was going to get a cavity just sitting here listening to her. Either that or she would end up corrupting the poor girl. It was obvious that she was too innocent and naïve to hang around Jen for any extended length of time especially since she didn’t even seem to know what a hangover was.
“You do know what a hangover is don’t you? It’s not something they have medicine for…” Oh sure the sick bay could probably give her some aspirin or something but that wouldn’t help, not really. No, she just had to pay the price for drinking too much. There wasn’t any other way around it. “Yeah, yeah, a real pleasure sunshine. Now do you think you could turn back on the ‘cheerful’ a bit? I’m already sick enough as is.”

Jen didn’t have to wait long to find some company. Before she knew it some girl had pushed through the crowd and was asking her to dance. Jen grinned as her hand was grabbed and she was dragged onto the dance floor. “Damn girl, don’t make me spill my beer.” She said in mock irritation as she joined in the girl’s laughing. She had to dip and dodge around a few people as she followed in an effort to balance her cup but she was all too happy to dance. In fact, judging by how this other girl was acting Jen thought they would get along just fine.
Sipping at her drink Jen started dancing with the girl to the thump of the music. “Now this is what I’m talking about!” She shouted over the beat. She didn't know who the girl was and didn't really care. Fortunately it didn't matter too much. The girl wanted to have fun and so did Jen and that was the only thing that really mattered. "Some party! It's about time someone stirred up some action around here am I right?"

It was about gods damn time. That’s what Jen thought about this party. It was about time someone decided to lighten this place up a little and have some fun. The legion was always glory this and honor that and we must obey tradition all the time. She swore if she had to hear one more legionnaire tell her about how their family heritage stretched back generations she was going to lose it. Jen had simpler tastes. She liked to kill her enemies, enjoy the spoils of battle and at all other times just have fun in between. That's why she was here tonight.
Oh sure she wasn’t “technically” old enough to be at a college party, oh sure it was supposed to be very exclusive and private and yada yada yackity yack but when had that ever stopped Jen from doing anything? She went where the action was and she was lucky enough to get away with it. Right now the action had led her to this apartment and she had wasted no time in slipping in with the crowd and grabbing a drink. Now she just needed to jump in and this party could finally get started.
Laughing and cheering Jen announced her entrance in her typical loud mouth fashion. “The party is finally here bitches! I’m going to drink all the beer, smoke all the smoke and there’s a ticket straight to Hades for anyone who tries to stop me! Let’s get this party started!” With that Jen waded into the crowd hoping to find some interesting people and have some fun.

Accelerated speed? Rifts in space? Who was this guy, Dr. Who? Jen smiled and nodded along not sure if he was shitting her what. In any case the guy seemed to be to be pretty unsure about the wibbly wobbly sciencey stuff involved in it himself so ninja skills worked good enough for her as a description. “Bummer. I was going to ask if you could teach me that trick. Looks like it would be useful getting from point A to B.”
She watched as the guy came over to put away his kung fu stick. He started talking about lines and tactics and history and Jen was barely able to suppress a yawn. Here they went, another dull legionnaire giving her a lecture on history, booooooooring. She expected she would be dozing by the third or fouth sentence but he surprised her by skipping over the lecture and practically calling her out. "Hey now!" She said with a little indignation in her voice. "Training isn't at the bottom. There's other stuff that ranks a whole lot lower like cleaning my bunk in the barracks and making sure my armor is polished. I'm just saying there's more important things. When arrows are flying and people are dying are you going to ask their pardon while you form ranks? Balls to that. By that time you've got to know how to step on toes, knee people in the groin and punch them in the face. Anything it takes to win.”

"I haven't thought about much of anything yet little miss sunshine." She said a trifle shortly. Just as she had suspected she had opened the door and now the little bundle of sweetness and joy beside her was going to annoy her to death. "And I'm not going to the sick bay. I've got a hangover not a busted skull." It certainly felt like she had a busted skull but right now there was nothing for it. She would go on wishing she could die until she got her system balanced back out in one way or the other.
At least sunbeam here was making herself useful. The gardens. Jen had no clue how she had gotten here but at least she still had clothes on. She chanced another look at herself wincing again as she did so but it was worth it to confirm she wasn't stark naked. 'Lucky there...' She thought and then realized this other girl had actually given her name. Kaylee. What was a Kaylee? Something far too cheerful and innocent for her own good that's what. "I'm Jen and yeah...I tend to be that lucky."

Jen didn't want to see whoever it was. Opening her eyes hurt like a son of a bitch and even when she did it was only long enough to see the shape of someone coming towards her. In her mind it looked more like a thing than any discernible person so that's what she decided to go with for now. The thing kept coming over and before she knew it was sitting down beside her in the grass. Oh gods was she going to have to talk to it? She supposed she was.
The thing spoke to her giving Jen a little more information about what she was dealing with. A girl no doubt but the happy, cheerful lilt of her voice made Jen groan internally as she got herself into a sitting position and tried to keep her head low and still. This was already shaping up to be a glorious day. "Alright?" She repeated in a groggy and slightly irritated voice. "My head hurts, my body is sore and my mouth feels like I had sand with a side of broken glass for breakfast...Do I look alright?" She immediately regretted talking. By speaking to the cheerful little thing she was only giving the girl a right to respond back with more questions but now that she had begun there was nothing for it. "Unfortunately all the rooms at the New Rome Ritz-Carlton were rented out last night. I had to make due. Where am I by the way?"

’Son of a gods be damned bitch…I’m going to punch someone in the throat if they don’t turn off those lights...’ Jen thought as she attempted to roll over and bring back the blessed darkness of her sleep but…oh gods no…whenever she tried to move her head felt like Vulcan himself was pounding away on it like some deranged monkey demon or whatever damn roman something or other was an acceptably deranged and insane equivalent.
The girl groaned. She was hung over. Her mind dimly remembered the party last night and good gods she remembered the drinking but try as she might she couldn’t remember where she was or how she had gotten here. Of course it didn’t help that it felt like the entire twelfth legion was performing drills inside her head but she needed to figure out something about her surroundings, preferably without opening her eyes and letting in that ungodly light.
Okay start with the basics. She definitely wasn’t on a bed. Whatever she was laying on was prickly…grass maybe? Other senses were starting to kick into gear now and yeah, judging by the sounds that seemed to make her head scream she was outside. That explained why the light was so bright. ’If I ever meet Apollo I’m going to run that sun chariot right up his flame retardant ass…’
There was something else too. Something that was worse than the sun or the sounds or this gods pounding headache. What was it? Was someone…frolicking? Oh gods. Oh dear sweet merciful gods of Rome, Greece and every other country and people there were. If there was any goodness in the world it wouldn’t be so because the last thing Jen needed right now was some peppy, happy to be alive son of a bitch to try and make her day cheerful.
Jen set up with a groan and quite a bit of effort on her part. Grass and flowers were stuck on her skin and clothes and her hair was matted a tangled into a mess. She didn’t want to open her eyes but there was nothing to do about it now. She opened them slowly but still winced in pain as she struggled to get her bearings and find the source of those happy vibes to bring some kind of end to them. “Quiet down will you?” She groaned in the direction of whatever it was. “Some of us aren’t sure we’re alive or dead yet….”

She chuckled at the thought of the war elephant trampling through the training yard. That would end the training real quick but there would be hell to pay for a stunt like that. That was not a gamble she was willing to take. This guy destroying all the dummies with his stick though, a much safer bet. “I was here long enough to see you use your ninja skills or whatever that was on that dummy. What was that anyway? Good trick in any case.”
She didn’t know if it was some kind of super speed or some nifty demi god power but whatever it was she was sure it came in handy. In battle all bets were off and if you had a talent like that you might as well make use of it. No one appreciated that rule more than Jen who was notorious for fighting dirty. One thing she wasn’t fond of however was training and she hoped that this guy wasn’t another dull legionnaire all glory and honor and tis a good day to die. That stuff made her sick. “Bite your tongue.” She said in disgust. “I suppose there are some worse things. Nothing is as bad as cleaning up the shit in the latrines but gods, there are a lot of better things too. Next thing you’ll be telling me that you like formation drills.”

Training was boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooring. At least that’s what Jen thought. Why should she be stuck here at the training grounds when she could be in New Rome having some fun? That was an interesting question. She could have been out partying or shopping or gambling and yet here she was fulfilling her daily training regimen to insure that she wasn’t punished by the centurions again. She didn’t even know why she needed training. She obviously knew how to fight and this was just a waste of her time. She was here though and she might as well get this done so she could go have some fun.
Grabbing her sword and shield Jen headed out into the sparring area only to find that she wasn’t alone. Another kid was here tonight and as Jen watched he took a big stick and used it to promptly decapitate a training dummy. Was this dude for real? Kungtaikwondu or whatever made for pretty interesting movies but actual fighting against real people? Jen had her doubts. Still, it did prove pretty effective on stationary targets. “Keep doing that and you might get us all out of weapons practice.” She called to the boy as she clapped her hands. “Actually that’s probably not such a bad idea now that I think about it.”

Jen bounced her way happily along the streets of New Rome enjoying the jingle of coins in her pocket and looking in the windows of stores as she passed. She had just come from the barracks of Camp Jupiter where she had accidentally stumbled across a few new recruits gambling over a game of dice in their off time. Having never been one to turn down a game of chance when she had the opportunity to play Jen had joined them and then politely introduced them to what it was like gambling against a daughter of Fortuna.
She was sure they would probably be upset when they discovered who she was. Jen didn’t cheat but luck was sort of her thing and judging by past experiences people sometimes saw her parentage as a slight advantage but that was a chance she was willing to take. To be ‘fair’ she had dropped off most of the winnings at Fortuna’s temple for the next lucky person who stopped by to give her mom an offering. When they did they would find a nice little bonus for their troubles and Jen thought that would be how mom wanted it. Still, she didn’t think dear old momsie would begrudge her a little shopping trip like she was going on now especially since the money was fairly won.
Jen had just looked in another window and was about to move down the street when something caught her eye that brought her to a halt. "Oh that's nice." She said to herself as she stared wide eyed at the incredible pair of red high heels on display that were obviously some fine Minerva work and were they on sell? Why yes they were. "Oh I think you'll will do very nicely." She grinned to herself already thinking how those shoes were meant for her and began to make her way inside the shop. "To bad everyone can't be as lucky as me..."

| TRADITIONAL APPLICATION India Eisley - Seventeen – Camp Jupitor - Heterosexual - Single
likes-- Shopping Parties Gambling Getting things to go her way Chocolate Kids Taking chances Cussing like a sailor in combat dislikes-- Losing Rules Boring and repetitive job assignments at camp Being left out Being tickled People putting down her cohort Nemesis kids Jokes about her height strengths-- Fierce fighter Extremely lucky Creative and quick witted weaknesses-- Hot headed Reckless Doesn't think before she acts No filter Fickle fatal flaw-- Recklessness fears-- Being captured or restrained – Claustrophobia Being maimed in some way Getting on her mom’s bad side preferred weapon-- Excellent with the gladius
personality-- Jen is a social butterfly who likes to take chances and have fun. As is the case with a lot of Fortuna’s children she is a bit fickle and is kind of a wild child with a habit of getting into trouble from time to time but generally she is a good hearted individual. Granted she can be pretty hot headed when aggravated and isn’t above a few catty remarks when annoyed but generally she tries to do the right thing.
Jen is not what a lot of people expect as a legionnaire. She doesn't do well with rules and regulations and the strict order of the legion can be pretty abrasive to her at times but she is a scrappy fighter and good to have around in battle. While a little undisciplined she makes up for this with her fierceness and luck on the battlefield. Unfortunately her tendency to break the rules often makes her the target of her commanding officers and she usually gets assigned some of the worst off duty jobs as a result but one thing is for sure, fighting beside her is always interesting.
godly parent-- Fortuna / Roman family-- Michael Kail, Forty-Seven, Unknown, doesn’t care pets-- name, species if any
hometown-- Las Vegas, NV history-- Though born a daughter of luck Jen's life did not particularly start out lucky. Her father was a gambler, a two bit card shark in Vegas who had hit an extraordinary lucky steak when he met Jen's mother Fortuna. The two had one wild night but luck is a fleeting thing and the next morning when Fortuna was gone apparently so was Michael Kail's win streak. Nine months past and the next thing he knew he was burdened with a daughter he didn't really want.
Life wasn't particularly easy for Jen after that. Her father provided for her yes but he felt like his daughter had brought his life to a close and resented her for it. He drank a lot and when he did he wasn't above tuning up on the girl he saw as the source of his misfortune. Still, despite these circumstances Jen never let her circumstances get her down.
Instead she always seemed to be incredibly lucky and resilient no matter what situation she found herself in. Granted that didn't always make her life easier but it did prove to usually balance things out for her in the end. Instead of getting down on herself it made her tough and when she was finally old enough to risk it she took a chance and ran from the life that had been holding her back.
It was at this point in her life that Lupa snatched Jen up and brought her to the wolf house. There she discovered she was a demi god and had the possibility of a life of excitement and adventure in the Roman legion. It was an opportunity that Jen jumped at and even though she was a bit rough around the edges as many children of luck are she fought her way to Camp Jupitor and once there impressed with her fierceness and tough attitude.
She didn't have much gratis to go on with the Romans but a child of Fortuna is always nice to have around and she had no trouble fitting in. She was eventually assigned to the third cohort and despite her fickle nature became something of a mascot among her fellow soldiers.
Now she usually spends her time trying to stay out of trouble. She isn't always successful at that but that doesn't stop her from passing the limits around camp. She understands better than anyone that luck only comes to those who act so she lives life with few regrets and is always looking for opportunities to get ahead.
