An attack. He knew it was stupid to have suggested it as soon as Viv looked back at him. Gods it was like she was staring straight into his soul when she looked at him and all he could do when she asked who could have done it was give a simple noncommittal shrug in response. He wasn’t sure about much right now but he was fairly certain that the less he said to incriminate himself the better. If he was lucky maybe she would think he was in shock or something.

At least it looked like the Usurpers had pretty much been cleared out and repair efforts were already underway. If they would have come back and things would have been complete ruined with dead campers laying everywhere he didn’t know how he would be able to keep the truth from Viv. She was asking him a question though and it was best for him to pay attention right now so he could play along. “Yeah, sure. Come on let’s go.” He said in response and started down towards to ruined camp with Viv hoping to Zeus he could keep this going.

Shadow traveling was weird. Drew guessed he was more used to it than some because his father was Thanatos but still, the fact that they could travel so far so fast was just a bit unsettling. Fortunately it didn’t affect him like it affected Viv who, after the shadows finally dissipated and they were back on familiar ground, started to go limp in his arms. “Guess it was a good thing I thought to hold on to you this time.” He said in a slightly distracted voice.

Unfortunately he was not in much of a mood to be coy. No, Drew was much more interested in glancing around his surroundings to see if he could get a read on the place before Viv came to her senses. He wasn’t sure what he had expected, the forest burned down or maybe a Camp Halfblood sized crater, but he saw neither of those things. If he got to the top of the hill maybe he would be able to see more but right now things were a bit limited. “Looks like we made it in one piece at least. Do you need to sit and rest for a second?”

It was easy to forget why Drew and Viv had left camp to begin with. The Vegas trip had gone as well as could be expected, Drew would even admit that he had a lot of fun with Viv which was something that he wasn’t used to doing, but fun hadn’t been the original purpose for them getting away even if it had served as a very effective distraction from the impending sense of doom that had been growing in Drew ever since he had woken up today and started preparing to head back.

The attack. It would have happened by now. Drew was sure of it and that meant one of two things. Either the camp was destroyed, the usurpers had won and he was walking them back into a trap or the camp survived, probably thought they were dead and was about to get a surprise. Either way it meant one thing for Drew. This bill of goods that he had been selling Viv on, while true in a sense, was about to come crumbling down and for the son of Thanatos he hoped that they both wouldn’t get caught in the destruction.

The time was on them though. Drew didn’t think he could buy himself anymore time as much as he wanted to now. No, he had dug this grave and he was going to have to lie in whether he got buried or not. Sighing as he watched Viv gather her things he shouldered his own old dufflebag and walked over to her. “You sure I can’t convince you to forget about camp. It’s not like there is anything there worth going back for anyways.” It was a desperate attempt. He knew it probably wouldn’t work but he had to try it anyways. This could all be so much easier if they left camp behind but he wasn’t that lucky.

Reaching over he wrapped one arm around Viv’s waist and pulled her close. It would make the shadow travel easier but it also had the added benefit of getting to have her body pressed against his one more time. “We could travel around and see the world. No reason to stay in one place or do one thing. Are you sure you want to go back to some boring summer camp?”

Drew wasn’t scared of death. He had been dying a long time before he had jumped into that pool and that had given him a pretty good sense of his own mortality. Still, he hadn’t expected to go out like this. His disease catching up to him? Sure. A monster killing him in the heat of battle? He could buy it. But drowning in some Las Vegas pool all because he couldn’t swim? Well that was certainly an unexpected way to go. That said it was kind of relaxing to be going out this way. No pain, no sickness, just a slow fade into the dark…

…or at least it would have been. The water that had been blocking his lungs was forced from his body very violently and blessed air came rushing in to replace it. With the air came consciousness and Drew rolled over to his side coughing and sputtering as the water came rushing out. He didn’t know what had happened but he was alive. He was alive and breathing and he wasn’t alone. Viv was there with him and she was screaming. “Vi..Viv…” He coughed. “Viv! Stop…stop yelling…You’re going to wake the dead.”

He tugged Viv onto the balcony and out of sight just as he heard the click of the lock on the door falling away. Outside the hot, dry Nevada air hit him like a ton bricks as did the lights and sounds of the city. Drew glanced around and noticed that Viv had taken the opportunity to throw on the rest of her clothes and he figured he should as well as the sounds of someone entering the room behind them came to his ears. This little retreat would buy them a few seconds maybe a minute or two but they couldn’t stay here. That being the case they needed to figure a way out of this. Drew began looking around for an escape route but apparently Viv had others ideas.

"We'll have to jump," She said and that made him spin around so suddenly that he almost tripped over his shoelaces which were still untied. “What?” He hissed but she wasn’t giving him any chance to argue. He hadn’t even fully grasped what she was saying until she jumped leaving him all alone.

Drew followed her descent to the pool below and watched her splash down safely. “Damn it…” He said to himself. “Damnitdamnitdamnit…” There was one major flaw to this plan. One that Viv hadn’t taken the opportunity to discuss with them. Jumping into a pool of water was all very well and good if you knew how to swim which, as it so happened, Drew did not. He glanced over the side of the balcony at the pool and realized with gut sinking effect just how far away it was. The sounds inside the room were becoming louder though. Apparently whoever was in there had noticed that the bed was a mess and that meant he didn’t have much time to decide. ’If she kills me I swear I’m going to fight my way out of Hades and drag her back with me’

Flipping himself over the ledge of the balcony he could hear the sound of voices coming closer from inside the room. He cast one more dubious look down and the water and then closed his eyes. ’Here goes nothing.’ He thought and then leapt off the balcony. He didn’t want to see it, didn’t want to know when he was about to hit and that of course proved to be a mistake. He took a breath at the wrong time and before he knew it he had taken in a huge gulp of water and chlorine. He didn’t know which way was up but he knew he was sinking into the water and at that moment he began to struggle.

Kitty cats, especially kitty cats named Zeke, weren’t really on Drew’s mind as he drifted off to sleep. He had gotten so used to the cat being around that it was just kind of expected that he was there somewhere. Drew had admittedly had better things to think about though so he didn’t recognize the panic in Viv’s voice when she called to her pet and he wasn’t there. In fact, he probably wouldn’t have noticed anything at all if suddenly he hadn’t felt himself being shaken awake.

“Wha…?” He mumbled as he clearly struggled to fruitlessly cling to unconsciousness. Viv was persistent though and then she said one thing that got his attention real quick. ’We're in the wrong room.’

”Shit!” He exclaimed as his eyes flew open. ”Damn fucking shit!” Drew rolled over in his shock and the motion sent him rolling off the side of the bad and crashing to the floor. ”Shiiiiiiit!” He said again as he sat rubbing his head and realizing he was buck ass naked on the floor. ”Clothes? Where are our clothes?” And with that he was in a mad scramble across the floor looking for their things.

Viv was kissing him back hard when he felt that eerie feeling of being displaced. This time though with them tangled up like they were the feeling was a little more exotic than when they had traveled to Vegas. He thought perhaps all shadow travel should be done this way. It was certainly more pleasurable and when Viv began to sway forward he was there to steady her and guide her gently down onto the bed while she tore at his shirt.

"Damn this is hot." He said raggedly as his shirt came off. He didn't want to take too much of a break though and as soon as he was free he was back to kissing her again and hard. It was how they both usually liked it after all and right now he wanted to take advantage of being on top.
