Raiders of the Lost Teddy (Hailey & Saphron)

[Theo Dean]

Theo stood on the porch of the Artemis cabin tapping his foot impatiently. He had already knocked twice and he could practically hear Saph silently gloating beside him. Pretty soon she would be telling him they should have just snuck in to begin with and none of this would have been a problem and even though he hated admitting when he was wrong she would be right. ’Why did the hunters all pick tonight to go out and do…whatever it is hunters do?’ He thought as he sighed and gave one more loud knock at the door.

It was useless. No one was here and that meant only one thing for Theo. If they were going to have any chance of getting Hailey back to her normal form he was going to have to do things the hard way and sneak into the cabin. Still, he didn’t have to be happy about it. “I don’t want to hear a word Saph. How was I supposed to know that there wasn’t going to be anyone home?” He said in an exasperated tone. “I guess we don’t really have a choice besides trying your plan to sneak in.”

Glancing around just to make sure the coast was clear he turned back to Saphron. “You better keep a good watch and let me know if anyone is coming. If I end up catching an arrow tonight you are so going to owe me chores for a month at least.”

Saphron tried to bite her tongue as she stood next to Theo on the Artemis cabin porch while she held the little Hailey jackalope. She really did her best not to tell him “I told you so”, but the look on her face was a mixture of gloat and glee. They weren’t home, which meant that Theo didn’t have to worry about getting his pretty little head shot off.

“I don’t think they’re home,” she said as calmly as possible once Theo knocked a third time, but there was that hint of “I told you so” in her voice. She acted shocked once Theo almost admitted defeat. “I’m stunned Theo. Do you not really think that highly of me that I won’t say something about it?” She chuckled to herself as a satisfying smirk crept onto her face. “I guess we should’ve gone with my plan in the first place though…”

She knew that was going to get on her brother’s nerves, but he deserved with how vain he had been during their plottage. She smiled sweetly at her brother as he threatened her. “Oh, Theo, would I ever do that to you? I’m the best look out ever. I’ll even shout OI! LOOK OUT! if I see any of them approach.” She walked to the edge of the porch as she peeked around the corner of the cabin. “There’s an open window here you can try Theo. Do you want to take the horny one with you?”

Theo rolled his eyes as he was hit with waves of Saphron snark. He had been expecting the burns but that didn't mean he was ready to receive them when they came. Still, he supposed he had earned them slightly by trying to go about this the easy way. Oh well. There was nothing he could do about it now. "Yeah, yeah. I get the picture. Look let's just get this over with."

Theo glanced around the corner of the cabin to look at the window Saphron had indicated. Sure enough it looked like a decent entry point, one that he would have little trouble getting in to. “Well at least they don’t leave their windows locked.” He said and then glanced back over at Saphron and Hailey. “Yeah I probably need to take her with me. If we aren’t going to have any hunters to ask she may still be able to find her stuff herself. It’s worth a shot at least.”

Walking over to Saphron he plucked the Hailelope from his sister’s arms and slipped her into one of his jacket’s spacious breast pockets to insure she didn’t fall. “Come on little bit.” He said touching one of the glowing runes on his jacket. The rune vanished away and as as it did the pair began to levitate off the ground and drift towards to open window. Together they floated effortlessly into the cabin and once inside Theo touched them down lightly. Reaching into his pocket he picked Hailey up and deposited her on the floor so that she could move around freely for once. “Alright Hailey time to put those animal instincts to good use and find us something to turn you back.”

Hailey sat there in Saphron's arms as her nose twitched nervously. Was this a good idea? Were they going to help them? Were they going to kill her and Theo on sight? But they weren't home, which confused Hailey a bit. They should've been here, but things could have changed with their cabin schedule within the past year. She didn't have too much time to worry about it before she was transferred over to Theo and placed into his breast pocket. If jackalopes could blush, there would've been one on Hailey since she couldn't remember the last time she was this close to a guy.

She stuck her head up off of the top of the pocket and watched as her and Theo flew away and into the cabin. He set her on the ground and she looked around the cabin. They changed it since she was last in here and the bed she used to call hers was occupied. Hailey wiggled her nose a bit before she hopped around a bit, before she saw it in the corner. It was a pile of her stuff! They didn't throw it away! She hopped excitedly to the pile and started nosing around in it, seeing if she could find anything that would help lift the spell.

It took Hailey a few moments to get her bearings straight. Theo imagined that things had changed since she had been here last and even if they had been small changes the world was still a very different place for something so small than it was for a human sized individual. Still, glancing around the room it was obvious that the Hailelop had found something interesting as she began hopping with a definite purpose towards one of the corners of the room where a pile of things set looking discarded.

Theo followed her over and as Hailey began nosing around in the pile he began picking through it as well. He wasn't really sure what he was looking for, a journal, maybe some clothes that she liked, anything that could possibly hold a strong memory of the girl, but it was hard because he wasn't really sure what the bunny girl connected with. "This would all be easier if jackalopes could talk huh?" He said more to himself than anyone else because Hailey certainly wasn't going to respond.

He came to an old teddy bear and gave it a look over. The stuffed animal was nothing much to speak of. It was old, he could tell that, but other than this one noticeable thing it seemed pretty plain. Still, Theo had spent several years of his life searching for old things. Finding old scrolls and parchments was his hobby and he had learned that very rarely were the most valuable magical artifacts shiny and new like in some treasure hunting movie. In any case it was something and turning to Hailey he held out the bear to her. "You know I'm pretty sure you can get one of these at the store for like five bucks. No sense holding on to one that's so beat up."

Hailey nosed through the pile as she tried to find something that would break the curse. They needed something sentimental. What did she have that qualified for it? She didn't keep journals and her clothes were nothing special, especially when she joined the hunters. Theo helped her rummage through her pile, but she wondered if he would know what would be considered sentimental.

But then he found it. She pulled back from the pile a bit as her eyes widened as he held it up to her. Her Teddy. Hannah had an exact same one named Beary. It was one of the few things she brought from home once she arrived from camp. It kept her company in the Hermes cabin while she was waiting to be claimed and when her sister gone insane. Teddy was the only one there when that boy first broke her heart before she joined the Hunters. It was the one there to keep her company when the Artemis cabin seemed a little too empty...

She hopped over to the bear and nosed it a couple of times before looking back up at Theo, hoping he knew that this was the thing they needed to break the curse.

[Theo Dean]

Theo watched as Hailey hopped over and began to nose the stuffed bear as if trying to tell him something. He glanced back and forth between the teddy and the jackalope considering for a moment and wondering if this was really what he needed. "You really think this will do the trick huh?" He asked still looking at the teddy curiously. Hopefully he was interrupting the bunny girl correctly or this spell wouldn't work and that was the best case senerio. Gods forbid this back fire on them completely and have some kind of unforeseen result.

"Well I guess there are worse things to be attached to so who am I to judge? I'm the one sitting here talking to the bunny." The thought brought a chuckle to his lips as Theo remembered some of the crazier things he had done to work a spell. This certainly ranked right up there near the top. "Alright well if you can't think of anything else you're closer to we should probably be getting out of here before the other hunters come back. I do not want to have to explain what I'm doing inside an all girl's cabin with a teddy bear and a bunny. That just sounds like a bad joke waiting to happen." Stuffing the bear under his arms he held out his hands for Hailey to hop into. "Come on you. Your carriage awaits."

Hailey kept nosing the teddy bear and looking up at Theo, hoping that he would get the hint. He seemed doubtful that her teddy bear had that much sentimental value to her. Did he never had a stuffed animal growing up? She kept nosing at it slowly growing desperate with each passing minute. Did he not get it? This was the thing to break the curse!

But he finally gave in, even if he probably had his doubts. Hailey could sense it. She stopped nosing at the bear as she looked up at Theo and wiggled her nose a bit. He kind of looked cute from this angle... Good thing that jackalopes couldn't blush or it would've been a dead giveaway. She blinked before he held his hands out to her. She didn't have any second thoughts as she hopped into his hands, ready to get out of the Artemis cabin as soon as she possibly could.

The Hailelope looked at him for a long moment after he had decided to take the bear. He didn't know what was running through the transformed girl's head but he suddenly got the feeling he was being checked out. He couldn't be sure of course but it was easy to forget there was an actual girl in there until she did something very human like she had just now. 'Careful there Hailey.' He thought. 'Those wandering eyes are what got you in trouble in the first place.'

Finally though Hailey did hop into his hands and Theo took that as his cue to exit. "You're as anxious to get out of here as I am huh? Can't blame you there." He said as he touched another symbol on his jacket and began to levitate again. "Hopefully once we get you back to normal you can leave this hunter mess behind you. Jackalopification is bad. Nobody needs to have that looming over them just for having a little fun."

Saphron waited patiently on the porch of the Artemis cabin. Well... as patiently as she could while she was playing the role of lookout. She paced the cabin porch as every once in a while, she glanced around the corner to the open window she saw her brother and the jackalope fly through. "What's taking them so long," she muttered to herself as she checked the window for the millionth time. She rolled her eyes as she went back to pacing the porch. "Of course I find out that Theo is into bestiality as soon as I leave him with her." She sighed as she looked up and squinted out into the distance.

There was a group of people in the distance. Saphron couldn't make them out to be hunters or not, but she thought she might as well interrupt her brother and Hailey before they got penetrated with an arrow. "Oi! Look out!" she called out in the direction of the open window, hoping they would hear her in time.

[Theo Dean]

Theo hoped everything was going well outside. He hadn't heard anything from Saphron and that was a good thing but he thought that there luck had been surprisingly good so far. All it would take was a few more feet and he and Hailey would be out of the cabin and back on the front porch. Then they could get out of this place and get their furry little friend back to normal or at least try and hope they didn't mess things up.

It was about that time that he heard his sister's warning from outside. Did she have to be so obvious? They would be lucky if the whole camp didn't hear her like that. Currently though he didn't have time to think about it because if the hunters were coming back he wanted to be good and gone before they did.

Swearing under his breath Theo kicked his flight into high gear twisting and spinning through the open window. Unfortunately his grace doing so was something less than spectacular and on his way out he knocked his head causing him to swear again and almost lose his grip on his jackalope cargo. He recovered though and maintained his hold on both bunny and bear as he landed on the porch beside Saphron rubbing his head.

Glancing around instantly brought a frown to Theo's face. The nearest people that he could see were some distance off and here he was thinking that Saphron was trying to warn him about the hunters. Not only that but he had been lucky to not knock himself unconscious in his haste. Needless to say he was not in a pleasant mood. "Gods dammit Saph. This is the last time I leave you on guard duty. Next time you're doing breaking and entering."

Saphron kept glancing between the open window and the approaching group as she tapped her foot. "Come on Theo..." she muttered as she kept glancing back at the group. "You better hurry up before they murder you..." It seemed like it took forever, but soon enough she heard Theo swear and fly out of the window. She let out a breath that she didn't know she was holding once he arrived on the porch with the jackalope and a teddy bear.

"Theo," she snapped back once he snapped at him. "Now's not the time to be grouchy when you could be shot in the arse at any moment!" She finally got a good look to see he had a ratty ole bear in his hands. "Is that going to break the curse?" she asked as she pointed to it. She sighed as she shook her head. "It doesn't matter," she reached out to grab her brother by the arm. "We need to go Theo. The sooner we get away from here the less likely the hunters will ruin your pretty face."

[Theo Dean]

Theo squinted at the approaching group. They were all too far off to tell if they were the hunters or not and he still thought Saph was just pulling his leg but his sister had made at least one observation that he agreed with. They did need to get our of here quick. The sooner they got back to the cabin the sooner they could try out this new spell and see how things turned out. That was reason enough to hurry even if getting peppered with arrows hadn't provided enough motivation.

Theo glanced at the teddy bear and then back at Saph. He shrugged but when he spoke he sounded confident enough. "Hailey seems to think so and it looks like our best option for getting the job done. Have a little faith sis." He chuckled and made sure both jackalope and bear were secure before looking back at the approaching group and nodding to himself. The group was getting closer that was for sure.

"Alright, alright. Let's get out of here. We've got magic to work and I think our furry friend has been waiting long enough to be a real girl again." He said as he stepped away from the cabin. "With any luck we'll have Hailey back in her own skin before the night is out."

Saphron raised her eyebrows at the teddy bear, not completely believing that it took Theo and Hailey that long in the cabin to find just a teddy bear. She glanced over at Theo before she said, "And do we need a little trust and pixie dust too? I really hope you and the horny one know what you're doing, especially with how long you took in there."

She glanced over her shoulder at the approaching group. She still couldn't make out much, but she swore they had pointy things on their backs. "And I think I've waited long enough on this porch looking like a creep," Saphron said as she followed behind her brother towards their cabin where hopefully magic would transform a life tonight.
