Long Island, Camp Half-Blood | The liver is evil and it must be punished. | Amphitheatre | |
Alcohol. The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems The Simpsons Camp life was hectic, as per usual. Boatloads of kids with raging hormones, a whole lot of confusion, and copious amounts of adrenaline made for an environment that wasn't easy to adapt to. Adam hadn't even been here a week and from naked walk-ins to Zeus knows what, his life seemed to be devolving into a sit-com. It was getting to a point where a laugh-track was starting to be needed. Intrigue and gossip ran amuck as per usual, and truth be told, he hadn't liked it back when he was 12 and things stayed more or less the same. Especially now that he was on the older side of the campers, what a 16 year-old girl did to a 16 year-old boy felt like something that'd get him three-to-five in a state penitentiary.
Thankfully, he'd remembered the Amphitheatre. When he first discovered drinking during his teens, he'd realised that this particular place used to be fairly empty during the day, and as such made the perfect location to get the magical juice that made other people sound considerably more interesting without running the chance of encountering his favourite wheelchair-based centaur. This was the place that started his days of binge-drinking (a tradition the demigod would not allow to die in the foreseeable future).
On this day, however, there were other plans. Just a good book and a few cold beers and, if the seamstresses will it, a little peace and quiet. Having found a neat little spot with just enough room to spread his legs, the man sat there, his back leaning against the step above him, Argos a couple of feet away in the shade with some water next to him, and a copy of Orwell's 1984. Conspiracy theories do sound better when there's some booze in you, after all. Some light R&R, at long last.

Harper was really confused. She was seeing some guys around camp that somehow up and disappeared on her, which made her sad. Then she was dealing with Cody, who wasn't really Cody, but it was an evil Cody instead. Plus, her sister Accalia left camp in a serious attempt to find her father. So she was confused all over sorts of things and she just needed to clear her mind. Usually, a good make out session would do the trick, but since she didn't have anyone readily available, she decided to go on a walk. That was supposed to clear minds, right?
So a walk around camp, but she couldn't shake the thoughts that plagued her. Honestly, it was quicker to just make out with someone than actually stroll around camp. However, she passed by the amphitheater, but paused as she saw someone there. And not just anyone. This person looked familiar, but older. Did he really come back to camp? "Adam?" she asked loud enough for him to hear as she made her way down the amphitheater towards him.

The monotony of camp life had hit Seth unexpectedly like death. The daily dreariness, the absence of his life in these grounds left the man so lacking of interest that it caused him mental weariness and utter boredom. It was not as though he missed his old life per say, but he had returned to camp for this prolonged time to find some more meaning in his rather directionless life. Rather, what was awaiting him was far different. He had meant to consult with Chiron since his arrival, but even with intentions, he could never secure a meeting. Was the old man perhaps avoiding him? It was unlikely, but if true quite unfortunate. Such was his life. Seth had always been one to not just stray away, but to be evaded, even by fellow demigods. It was supposedly the curse of Hades; as his father was always shunned, so were his children.
His thoughts continued to invade his mind, enough so to distract Seth to the point of pondering where he had wandered off to. With a quick glance of his surroundings, he could notice a round, oval like structure before him. Rows upon rows of seats descending before him, leading down to a centralized stage meant for performance. Ah, the amphitheater. How had he ended up here? Seth squinted under the sun as he surveyed his own memories of the place. He remembered, at one point in time, that he once found solace here. The amphitheater. During this time of day it was generally quiet, undisturbed by the rattle of the common campers who ran amok throughout the grounds. He also remembered, under the ocean that was his memories, himself quiet, under the breeze of the spring atmosphere, as he watched time pass between friends, and even lovers alike. It never escaped Seth's mind that his attitude, his old way of thinking, was a direct result of his upbringing. The fiery hell of Hades' underworld wasn't exactly kind towards his upbringing. His time would pass by speaking with the Enrinyes, father's Furies. Or the dead, who longed for the presence of others. In in the pass time, he Seth had grown far older in mind than he should have been.
With a blink, the son of the Underworld returned to the space of the living and simply sat near the upper left of the structure, his back leaning against the stone and his arms crossed. He surveyed his surroundings and found only one person, a male, quietly keeping to himself. With his eyes he could notice a couple things, namely speaking a book and a couple cans, presumably alcohol? Beer eh? Would rather go for coffee right about now. And then, he heard a voice, another voice, a girl?
"Adam?" She had said. Adam? The name was vaguely familiar, but the memory eluded Seth the more he probed his thoughts. With a sprinkle of curiosity on his mind, Seth simply sat, and watched.

As his name rung out in the air, the Orwellian novel was lowered to his crossed legs, moving it away from sight - clearly, there was no point in trying to read. The fates weren't giving him that, today. After a moments of staring into nothingness to accept this realisation, the man's lips would sketch and he'd release a few silent chuckles, before his blue eyes found this voice's owner. "Harper." - he said, the warm smile still there, the thought of reading now gone for good. "I come bearing gifts." - the demigod remarked, as he set the book aside for good and raised a new beer bottle.
The Husky had clearly been intrigued by the situation and, as such, materialised himself by his owner's side, tail a-wagging. The dog was smart and had long since figured out that women walking Adam's way usually meant he'd get some attention (the dog may or may not have be used as a way to attract women in the two years' worth of travel). "This is Argos." - he explained - "My uncle had told me he wanted to get me a pet. I told him that, with my lifestyle it'd have to know how to pull its own weight, so he got me a sled dog. Hence the size. Harmless, though." Being on the road for two whole years meant being around mostly new people, which meant that he had to answer the same questions over and over and over again. The routine was so deeply ingrained at this point that half the information was now offered up willingly to simply get it out of the way. It helped that it was a fun little quirky thing, as well.
Offering the approaching woman a wink, Brontes would pat the stone bench beside him and comment with the same sharp tongue Harper would no doubt expect from him: "Come. Sit. Drink. Tell me all of the things that I have missed and most likely don't really care about."

Harper smiled widely. It was Adam and he came bearing gifts of the alcoholic kind. She walked a little faster towards Adam down the amphitheater. Harper liked Adam. He was one of the ones she would occasionally hang out with when they were both at camp. And she might've made out with him before. Or maybe she didn't. She honestly couldn't remember, but she was glad Adam was back. He'd been gone quite a long while.
As she got closer, she noticed his animal companion. "Well hello there, Argos," she said as she greeted the dog. She stepped over to it to give it a pat before she took the new bottle from Adam's hand as she sat down beside him. "It's great to have you back," she said with a smirk as she opened up her beer. She took a sip before she chuckled at his comment. "Fuck, Adam, where do I begin?" she asked as she shook her head. "It's probably a good thing you were out doing... who knows what... because camp here has been through some shit." She looked down at her bottle before looking up into the amphitheater where she saw that they were not alone.
"Oi!" Harper yelled out to the boy as she held her bottle in the air. "You want to join us for one?"

On a second thought, just taking a seat at the top of an enormous amphitheater by his lonesome was probably a peculiar sight once he considered it. The fact that he was sitting down by his lonesome at the top of an enormous amphitheater...staring at two people, oh boy probably not a good look. Maybe it would be a better idea to just, slip on out of here? Find another spot to lay low and brood? Yes, good idea. The forest was always a good place to go to brood. His hammock, oh so nice and soft would be welcoming...
"Oi!" The voice had come unexpectedly, addressing Seth in mid action from sitting to standing, to oh no...falling. "You want to join us for this one?"
The son of the Underworld tumbled who knows how far down the steps of the amphitheater, his life, hysterically, flashing before his eyes with each thump, crack, and bruise as he fell completely onto his back spread eagle next to the voice. Oh, how heroic the harbinger of Hades, the Shadow of Death must have looked. His eyes twitched in a mixture of confusion and pain as he laid there, staring up at eyes most likely to be staring back. In shame, Seth averted his eyes to look upon the steps of the amphitheater. The once fine stones of Greek architecture were reverted into fissure. Hellfire burst from the cracks in subtle rhythm as the holes closed up almost as quickly as they opened. Yeah, he wasn't having the best day.
"Well...hello there. Is that beer? I'm good thanks."

Adam would cease his actions for a moment, having heard Harper's mention of a storm heading Camp's way. Chiron had told him some of it but, in the centaur's way, he had not wanted to worry him needlessly. The full story could only have been gotten by campers, and it had seemed this particular girl before him had a unique, unfortunate perspective on the matter. Never one to betray his thoughts, the man's face would sketch a smile, tap the girl's bottle with his own. "First you're day-drinking and now you're swearing? Never took you for a bad influence, Jones." - he said between laughs, before moving to take a sip of his nice, cold beer.
Harper had spotted another man in near them and called them over. Brontes naturally assumed them to be frien-... ... ...
Well, this son of Zeus hadn't quite seen a tumble like that since... maybe ever. His cousin - judging by the earth spewing green flame around him - certainly knew how to make an entrance. He did not seem to have incurred any injuries, so that was that. Adam never had been a believer in pity. It was always better to face the situations and then allow the dust to settle. Adam was now quite literally between brooding cousins in one of the most awkward situations he'd been in quite a while. "You sure? Because even I feel like drinking, and all I did was watch that." - Brontes spoke, presenting a bottle to the newcomer in what now began to look like some form of signature move.
The Sky Father's son would continue, his tone as serene as ever. He seemed almost unfazed by the situation before him. "Grab a seat, have a beer, and we can can see if your second impression'll be as memorable as your first. How does that sound?"

Never took you for a bad influence, Jones. Harper laughed to herself before taking a nice long swig from her bottle before responding to Adam. "Let's just say I've seen a bunch of shit, Adam, and I've been through even more. While I don't think I'm a bad influence, I'm definitely not that new girl at camp who was maybe a little too goody two shoes and flirty." But she waited to see if the other guy was going to accept her invitation for a drink, but instead he took a tumble down the amphitheather.
Harper's eyes widened as she stood up right as the boy landed at her feet. "Fucking hell," she said as she looked down at the boy, ignoring his attempts to make small talk. "Are you okay? Do we need to take you to the infirmary? My friend is the Apollo cabin leader and she can fix you up real good."

"Oh- uh no no I'm fine really." The pop in his shoulder as he stretched said otherwise. "Ugh" the groan couldn't have sounded any less encouraging either. "On second thought, I'll be happy to take one of those." Seth outstretched his hand -his bum still glued to the floor- and grabbed a bottle for himself. With a sigh of relief, the demigod had opted to place the cold beverage pressed firmly onto his neck rather than go for a swig. The coolness of the beer was just as good as any cold patch he'd ever applied. Oh, he'd have to remember to actually drink it later. It took a moment before he could entirely get onto his feet, but by now, he had no incentive to look impressive. In fact, if he tried, he was more than certain to make a hiccup rather than redeem himself. He was the type to lay low anyways so there was no need to spring up onto his feet if it meant further damage to...his everything.
Staring up at the steps was like peering into his own close-call with death, funny but also frightening. Sheesh I survived that? he mumbled in amazement as he wrestled his gaze away. The girl appeared to be shaken up far more in contrast with than the boy. Hopefully he hadn't worried her too much I mean he barely knew her. Great I've been at camp more nothing longer than a blink and I get tangled up in more trouble. Wanting to assure her, he cracked himself a forced smile. He had learned than squinting his eyes helped a bit, especially since he was Asian. It took a while, but he'd like to have thought that he had mastered the 'eye smile' "If I'm ever in another tumble like that though I'll definitely give you a heads up haha your friend might come in handy then". He took the lightened atmosphere as a good segue to take a seat and he did so in welcome. "-Also, thanks for the beer"
