It was always a project trying to find new hiding spots outside to relax and read a book. As more campers accumulated, they seemed to be exploring more as well. Almost every time Dom went out to get lost in a book, it seemed that he was being caught. And he hated that. If one were to look at Dom, they would think all he ever did was train and workout. While he did do these things, there was much more to the son of Athena than what met the eye. Although he hated to let that on. Dom was laid out in the very back corner bench of the amphitheater with his latest book in his lap. A soothing wind rusted through the trees, and he felt he could completely let his guard down. The amphitheater wasn't the most popular spot in the middle of the day, and the boy took this to his full advantage. The place was peaceful, he could see everything around him, so he could see if someone was approaching. Or so he thought. He was into modern war stories lately, wanting to learn about the modern tactics that he could possibly incorporate into Camp Half Blood's fighting style. His passion for fighting and warfare reflected in his taste in books. The demigod had come out here to get away from the daily rush of camp. Today had been a bit stressful, and he just wanted to get away from it. Word was going around that the Greek and Roman camps were against each other. The whole camp gave off a tense vibe, and some kept looking to the Athena kids to come up with a solution. Dom needed to get away from the pressure, so thus, here he was, trying to get out of his bad mood. Callista DeWitt

my skin has turned from porcelain to ivory to steel. Normality wasn’t something easy to come by, especially when you were who you are. Time formed each person individually, making them who they are and who they aren’t. But there is still time for a change, to have your life flipped and your morals tested. And that was what Callie was going through, or at least, she had gone through it. Growing up she had only known her father and her nanny, and truthfully, Callie had never asked about the woman that gave birth to her, and the only thing she had to go by about her was the letter she left after she was born. Her father didn’t seem bothered by the fact that Callie didn’t appear to take notice that her mother wasn’t present in her life. He did however like the fact that Callie saw Tara as her mother more so than he would have thought.
But after coming to Camp Half-blood, a place filled with people like her, she felt more at home then she did in the outside world. Learning that her mother was some Greek Goddess, that didn't phase her, but it was nice to finally be able to put a name to the person that gave birth to her before dashing. But that didn't stop her from enjoying her time with others, especially learning that she had half-siblings, that was a plus.
She shook her head from her thoughts, keeping her sketchbook close to her chest as she made her way to the amphitheater, it was usually quite quiet in that location, mostly because people were training or hanging out with others during this time. Sometimes she just needed to get away from the rest and be in her zone. Especially now with the dark times ahead, she wanted nothing to do with that unless necessary. She’d ride it out until danger struck, which it always seemed to do for those that were children of the gods.
Callie did a quick look over of the amphitheater, once she arrived, and noticed that she wasn’t alone. While she couldn’t make out the person, she did notice shoes that were rather oddly placed on a bench in the corner. Callie, finding herself curious, drew closer and that was when she noticed who it was. At least, she thought it was the person she did until she noticed a book in his possession. “Dominic?” she questioned, almost hesitant, right now she was so unsure if it was the son of Athena she thought it was, especially because she didn’t know him as the reading type.

The bookworm was caught up in his reading, and didn’t pick up on the figure approaching his hiding spot. Quizzically studying the book close to his nose, Dom’s eyes rapidly darted back and fourth, absorbing the information in seconds. Lowering the book and holding it in one hand, Dom grabbed a stick in the other and began drawing his formation idea in the dirt. He was thoroughly distracted, moving his attention back and fourth from the book to the dirt when he was startled by a girl’s voice from nearby. Dom’s heart practically jumped in his chest as he dropped his book on the ground, smudging his sketch. He looked up at the intruder with a piercing scowl on his face. Soon recognizing the figure to be Callie, his face softened a bit just to show a slightly annoyed look. From what he knew, the other demigod was nice enough and kept to herself quite like Dom. Why else would she be out here alone anyway? She seemed down to earth, being a daughter of Persephone and all. It was something to be appreciated. Sighing, Dom leaned over and picked up his book up off the ground. Brushing the dirt off the pages, he looked back up at Callie. “Yes, what can I do for you?” Perhaps he had come off a bit mean, but the demigod was tired of people asking him questions. Her voice sounded hesitant, possibly unsure of whether to get his attention or not. Of course the son of Athena didn’t pick up on this, he wasn’t the best at judging others’ feelings. Raising an brow for her response, Dom couldn't seem to shake the annoyed look off his face. Callista DeWitt
