Dakota didn't get to look at her hands for long before Ash turned her head so she could look at him. He still liked her after all that they had been through, which was slightly oddly comforting. And if he still liked her, that probably meant he still loved her and she wasn't quite sure what to do with that information at all. And that was probably something that she needed more time to process it all.
And he was still eerily calm about the entire thing as he talked. He wanted what was best for her? She didn't even know what was best for her. But she did know what was probably good for her at the moment. She looked over at her bed before she looked up at him and shrugged her shoulders. "It's probably best for me to sleep off this alcohol," she said with a sad smile.

Dakota smiled as she saw Ash had set the table for them as she walked over to the dining room. She set the food down on the table as she took a seat across from him. She looked at him with a raised eyebrow when he said they had a lot to talk about. What she had to talk about, she didn't know quite yet. She pulled out her food from the container onto the plate as Ash continued his thought. Wedding talk. That wasn't so bad after all.
She looked back up at him as she smirked a bit. "I'm not the huge wedding type either," she said with a bit of a chuckle. "I was thinking maybe a medium-sized one? I think our siblings will understand we can't invite all of them to the wedding or that would get completely out of control." She looked at him as she tilted her head to the side. "Or we can do a smaller wedding if that would be okay with you?"

Work on their timing? That seemed like a better option at the moment, even if Dakota was still unsure about a lot of her feelings towards Ash. And it didn't help that her sister's words kept echoing in her head since they had that oh-so-helpful talk. But this seemed like a pretty good start for now. She slowly nodded her head to agree with his statements as she looked down at her hands again. They needed to work on their timing and she was pretty sure that kissing him right now while she was still drunk wasn't a good idea.
But Dakota was tired about getting things wrong and feeling like all she did was make one mistake after another with him. Maybe it was all her fault. Maybe it wasn't. But she felt like she needed to start somewhere to fix everything. She looked up from her hands again after she took a deep breath. "I do like you, Ash," she finally admitted to him. "You're a nice guy and so sweet... I do like you." She nodded her head to herself as she decided it was probably safer to look at her hands again instead of at him.

Would she really be alright with him being in her messy room? She had no idea, but he always made it sound like everything was going to be alright, when she didn't know herself. But it still very nice. And the kiss on the cheek was even nicer and she wanted more, but knew that would probably not happen. Not with everything that happened between the two of them. She watched as he sat down next to her and she knew that she had to behave now. She already slipped up once and she knew that she couldn't slip up again.
She clasped her hands in her lap as she looked down at him. She only looked up at Ash as he started talking to her in such an eerie tone. She stayed quiet as he wanted her to make a promise. Burying all her fears and regrets? Did she really have all of those? She took a deep breath before she said, "You know what I don't regret?" She looked at him as she blinked. "Kissing you. I don't regret that at all. I regret the situations I kissed you in, but never kissing you."

Dakota couldn't help but notice Ash's hand on her back as he walked her towards her room. She knew that it was just a kind gesture which was just something Ash did, even though Dakota couldn't help but wish his hands were on other parts of her body as well. She was wishing a lot of different things were happening between the two of them. But they finally got to her room and she sat down on her bed as she looked sadly at Ash. She wished he would change his mind, but it didn't look like he was going to change his mind. At least, not when she was in this drunken mess.
He talked about this being the first time he was in her room and she looked around and all she could see was a mess. To anyone else, it just looked like little piles of clutter, but to Dakota, it was unlike her to keep her room this messy. "I'm sorry it's a wreck," she apologized as she looked up at him just as he started wiping her face to get rid of the tears. "It's usually much cleaner. And I think I'm feeling better... I don't know... I'm really sorry about the mess."

Dakota watched Ash's face as he thought for a moment. She wondered for a moment what his response would be. Dakota always liked kids (as long as they weren't Lucas) and always thought about starting a family, but didn't know when the timing would be right for her, especially with her current job. But that would probably change, especially with all the thoughts that Dakota had running through her mind in that moment. But Ash finally spoke up and Dakota could only beam at him. He wanted children too. Maybe their little family would expand. There was a lot of things to consider, but they had the time to think over it...
Especially now that the doorbell rang. "That's our food," Dakota said as she untangled herself from his arms and answered the door. It was only a quick few moments of paying for the food and taking it from the driver before she closed the door behind her. "It smells good," she said as she looked over at Ash with a smirk.

Dear gods, his lips felt so good against hers. So much for trying to restrain herself around him. She really did try, but her self control was always weak around him. And damn, she almost forgot how much of a good kisser he was. And she wanted more. So much more of it. She was ready to go deeper into their kiss before he pulled away from her lips. She groaned as she looked up at him and pouted a bit. But it looked like he wasn't going to give into her. At least not yet.
But he suggested getting cleaned up and that he could possibly stay afterwards. Both of them sounded nice at that moment. If anything, she wanted to wash her face to get rid of those dried tears on her face. She smiled sadly as she slowly nodded her head. "Yeah..." she muttered. "Probably should do that..." She pulled away from him as she got off of the bed as she walked out of the room and towards hers.

Dakota looked down at her hands as Ash rested a hand on top of hers. After all that she had done, he was still willing to do that. She didn't jerk away from his touch at all. She blinked a couple of times before she looked up at him. It was okay to be scared, but what was she scared of? Love and loving him. That's what she was scared of the most, but she didn't know how to put that into words. And at that moment, she didn't want to use words.
Even though she was trying to keep herself from breaking, his simple touch was crumbling her defenses. Maybe she could blame it on the alcohol, but now, she decided to finally break. She leaned in towards him as she pressed her lips together before glancing down at his lips. It was only a split second decision before she leaned in closer to him and kissed him.

Was she trying to blame Ash for everything? Was she purposely trying to push him away? She really didn't think she was, but Ash thought otherwise. Was she trying to put the blame on him so she could feel better about herself? Then she was doing a poor job of it in the first place. She couldn't stand to look at his face as she looked down at her hands and remained quiet. She really didn't know what to say to him. Whatever she did say, he didn't get and it was quite obvious that he still had strong feelings for her. Her touch and kisses kept him up at night? That made the guilt in her even worse.
She sniffed a bit as she kept looking down at her hands. It seemed to be the safest option at the moment, but when he started talking about her fighting it, she paused. Was she really fighting her feelings? She had to be since she was currently drunk in her sibling's room with the boy she was trying to drink to forget. But did she want to stop fighting it? She wanted to, but something was holding her back. She looked up from her hands to Ash as she blinked a bit trying to hold off another wave of tears. "But what if I'm scared?" she whispered to him.

Dakota sat there looking at her hands as she felt the tears welling up in her eyes. He just wouldn't get it. She was horrible and probably the worst person he had ever come across. She used her powers on him because she was desperate. What's to keep her from doing it in the future besides all this guilt that was consuming her?
She picked her head up and looked at him as he talked. She closed her eyes and shook her head. "But it is unforgivable," she emphasized as the tears streaked down her face. "How do you want to be with someone who does that to you? And the fact that you supposedly love them as well?" She sighed as she glanced off to the side. "I don't know Ash... that does't... that doesn't sound right..." She pressed her lips together as she looked down at her hands. "I never wanted to be in love because it was too distracting," she muttered to herself, but loud enough that Ash could still hear her. "But I don't know... I don't know anymore... everything is too confusing..."

"I've been too busy to be worry about patiently waiting," Dakota mused as she shook her head. Her current job kept her busy enough with the crazy hours and her being on-call, but this was nice. She wasn't going to lie. She was slightly hoping for a reason to settle down with him.
A family of two or... Ash didn't have to finish that thought for Dakota to know where exactly he was going with it. She tilted her head to the side as she looked at her new fiance and studied his face a bit. "Ash..." she said softly as she looked at him. "Do you want kids? Even after everything you had to put up with Lucas?" She laughed as she shook her head. "I just have one request. Your sister Ali doesn't help with being a midwife. She's just too... Ali for my liking, especially with something big like that."

Dakota had to laugh. It was funny that Ash thought this situation was so black and white, while Dakota just saw shades of grey. And those shades were what scared her the most. "It's not that easy, Ash. It really is not," she muttered as she looked up at him from the floor. He looked torn over this as much as she felt guilty. How was this supposed to work out once they got past this? Dakota didn't know, but she finally decided to join Ash up on the bed when Ash asked. But she didn't trust herself. She slipped the last time she was this close to him and she didn't know if she would slip again. That's what got her into this mess in the first place and here she was tempting herself again.
But she got up on the bed and sat next to him, but made sure there was a little bit of space in between them. "I'm still horrible..." she muttered as she wiped away the dried tears on her cheeks. She sat there silently for a few moments before she turned to look at Ash. "I've never been in love, like, ever," she blurted out as she sniffed a bit. "And I didn't want to be for the longest time. And now... I'm not so sure..." she muttered as she looked down at her hands.

"I hope we can remedy that now," Dakota said with a slight giggle. "I mean... you put a ring on it, so that means we have to see each other more, you know?" And honestly, Dakota thought about stepping away from her life in the emergency room, but never had a good excuse to do a complete job switch. Well, this was a pretty good excuse in her opinion.
When he talked about her being a beautiful bride, however, Dakota laughed as she shook her head. "I always thought you could be a family man," she said as she smiled at Ash softly. "It's probably something you didn't realize, but it's something I know that's deep inside of you."

The guilt was rising up inside of her, especially now that she finally admitted it to Ash. Why did she have to be so desperate? And why did he have to push her to using it in the first place? But from what she could tell from the expression on his face, Ash didn't remember a single thing when the charm speak was taking control for that little bit. And that made things worse, way worse, especially since Ash was trying to process it all.
She let out another sob as the tears streamed down her face. "You're just being nice, but I am horrible," she cried out as she reached up to wipe away her tears. "I didn't want to talk to you because you wanted to talk about us or something and you weren't going to back off... so I used my powers just to get you to stop, but you turned into a robot and that was even worse... I don't know why you want to talk to me now..."

Dakota sat there crying like the drunken fool she was. Why did it have to come down to this? Why couldn't Ash get the hint and just leave her alone? She was horrible. Completely and absolutely horrible. Maybe he would get the hint and leave her alone. It was probably better for the two of them in the end. But instead of hearing footsteps leaving her cabin, she felt arms around her. Ash was hugging her and she should've protested and moved away, but instead she put her head on his shoulder as she sobbed into his shirt. She was a horrible person and he was being way too nice to her for all that she had done to him.
After a few moments, she pulled away from him and tried to untangle herself from his arms. "But you don't understand," she whined as she sniffed a bit. "I am horrible. I am the worst." She choked back a sob as she shook her head. "I used charm speak on you because I didn't want to talk about things and that was horrible because you acted like a robot..." She looked at Ash before she broke down into another set of tears and wailed, "I am horrible."
