Dakota hoped that Ash would believe her lie and just leave her be. All she wanted to do was cry and be even more drunk. Was that too much to ask for? In Ash's eyes, she guessed that was really too much to ask. She cringed a bit at the tone he was using which matched the look he was giving her. Why couldn't he go away? Why did he have to make everything so worse?
It must have been a combination of him and the alcohol in her system, but her eyes immediately welled up with tears as she choked back a sob. "I'm horrible, Ash," she blurted out as she finally let out a sob. "I don't know you like me... I'm horrible. Absolutely horrible. It'll probably be better for you if you didn't like me. You don't deserve me. I'm horrible."

Dakota? It’s Ash. I’m coming back. Dakota froze in her spot with the bottle in her hands. Ash was here. The one person who had indirectly caused this. She couldn't let him see her like this. She looked down at her bottle and saw that there was enough to down before Ash found her in her brother's room. So she chugged it and immediately regretted it. Once it was gone, she coughed and sputtered a bit as she wiped away the tears from her eyes and cheeks. She straightened up and looked around the room trying to figure out where to hide the evidence. Her brother's room was messy anyway and she figured it wouldn't hurt to chuck the bottles underneath his bed. Once that was done, however, she heard Ash at the door.
She straightened up more as she took a deep breath. She slowly turned around to look at Ash as she steadied herself a bit. "Everything's fine," she lied as she squared her shoulders. "And I'm not drinking. I don't know why you think that."

Guilt and disbelief. That's all Dakota could feel after her little outing with Ash. Complete guilt. She wanted to talk to one of her siblings about it, but they were usually too busy. Especially Mickey since he had more on his plate than she did. He had to deal with his father's death and his pregnant girlfriend and that was a lot more to deal with than Dakota charm speaking her way out of talking to Ash. She really couldn't believe that she was that desperate to get out of talking to him. That's why she didn't bother any of her siblings with her problems and instead waited until she had the cabin all to herself. She knew where her siblings hide their booze. She pretended like she didn't, but she fully knew where it was. And that day was the only day she had ever had the thought of exploiting that knowledge. And she took advantage of it. She calculated how much she needed to make all of these feelings go away and she started. She had only had sip of wine at dinner back at the ranch, so this was her first time really drinking alcohol. And it was horrible. Dakota just sat on the floor by one of her sibling's bed after a couple of drinks. Tears were rolling down her face and she wasn't keeping quiet about her sobs. Dakota's head was racing with thoughts as her stomach did several flips. She honestly felt like she could puke. Was she really that desperate that she had to use her powers on Ash just so she could avoid the conversation? Apparently she was and her sister's words kept echoing through her head. She needed to talk to someone who actually understood what she was going through. Maybe she needed to find Mickey after this and hopefully clear her head. If not, she was probably going to confiscate his booze so she could hopefully forget that this ever happened.
And the walk felt agonizingly slow and it seemed like forever until they finally reached the edge of the forest. And Ash was still under her spell. She didn't think her charm speak was that powerful, but maybe in the heat of the moment it was more powerful than she ever imagined. What she did know was that she did not want to be around when he finally snapped out of it. She gulped slightly as she shook her head. "You do not need to walk me back to my cabin," she said quickly. "I can find my way back... I'll... I'll see you around, Ash." And with that, she quickly left to head back to her cabin with all those thoughts that would not leave her alone.

The phone call was a rather quick one. Dakota had called the restaurant dozens of times in the past that she practically had their order memorized. So it wasn't long before she hung up the phone and was about to tell Ash it would be here in about thirty when he slipped his arms around her and pulled her closer. She giggled a bit as she wrapped her arms around his neck as she tilted her head to the side. "That is pretty embarrassing," she agreed as she nodded her head. "We're already doing this engaged thing wrong and I think we need to fix it asap."
She smiled a bit as she leaned in to give Ash a soft, quick kiss. She barely pull away from his lips as she muttered, "Hey Ash. I missed you."

It worked. It actually worked and Dakota didn't feel relief. Instead, she felt immense dread and she felt like she could puke in that exact moment. It worked and she didn't have to confront everything, but it was horrible. She could see the affect her charm speak had on Ash and it was wrong. There was almost a completely one-eighty to his personality. It was like was robot-Ash, not the Ash she knew. Was this permanent? Would he remember this at all? There were so many questions running through her head that she almost missed him speak.
She nodded her head a little too eagerly. She wanted to get away from here and maybe sort out her thoughts and maybe her feelings. She started to follow him out of the forest, making sure to take extra care with her footing.

Dakota smiled as she looked at Ash as he nodded his head. He had that look of determination that she always admired about him, but he needed to loosen up a bit. It was a time of celebration after all. And it looked like they really needed that food. Dakota barely found time to eat with her schedule at work and Ash admitted he was too nervous to eat. So food was her main priority at that moment.
"I'll order us something," she said with a wink. "I don't think we don't want to leave here after all that's happened today. That'll give us some time to ourselves before food gets here." She nodded her head to herself before she grabbed the phone and dialed up their favorite place to place an order for delivery.

Dakota hoped that he would get the hint and just drop the subject. Gods knew that she had a difficult time talking about it to her sister and there was no way she was going to talk about it to Ash. The boy she was having all these conflicting feelings about. And she knew how he felt about her and there was no doubt in her mind that he mind try to probe her feelings. Feelings that she wasn't quite so sure about. And there seemed to be no escaping the situation she had been thrusted into. But an idea popped into her head. It was risky and there would be a hell of a lot of guilt associated with it afterwards, but it seemed to be her only solution.
She had only used this a couple of times before and only on unruly campers in the infirmary. She wasn't as skilled as some of her other siblings, but it was at least worth a shot to try to get herself out of this. She took a deep breath to compose herself before she turned around to face Ash. Her heart was pounding in her chest as she hoped her face wouldn't give away her true intentions. She looked Ash in the eyes as she said, "We do not need to talk about this." She tried to put as much influence into her words as possible. "We should head back to camp."

As they kissed, Dakota felt more than before. Her sister's words echoed in her head, but she pushed them away. There was no way that she was in love with Ash. It was completely impossible. She just missed his lips, his arms, him. Everything. She missed everything. And from what she could tell, he was missing everything too. Because their soft kiss developed into so much more and she followed suit, just finding herself giving into his kisses. Kisses she so badly missed and almost needed.
Then he pulled away from her lips and she looked up at him as she panted slightly. But with that silence between them, she started to regain her senses. Oh gods... What had she done? And Ash? His reaction was almost worse. What exactly do you want from me? She didn't know. Or she did, but she didn't want to voice them. "I... I..." she stuttered as she moved to pull away from him. "I'm sorry Ash... I shouldn't have done that... I promised you something and I broke that..." Once she was pulled away from him, she turned her back to him as she crossed her arms over her chest as she tried to compose herself. Try was the keyword. "Is there anything else you needed to show me?" she asked, her voice a bit shakily after a few moments.

As Dakota fell, she closed her eyes as she braced herself for the fall. Falling really didn't have technique, but she wanted to make sure that she didn't wind up spraining her wrists or worse when she caught herself. She was waiting for herself to hit the ground, but she never met the ground. Instead, she met Ash's arms and his body instead. It was definitely an improvement, but she was so close to him and that was even more evident when he turned her head to face him as she opened her eyes. He asked her a question. Was she alright? She was, but his lips were so close to hers. Was she alright?
Dakota didn't know if she could answer his question at that exact moment. And she knew better. She absolutely knew better with his lips so close to hers. So she closed the distance between them as she kissed him softly.

Ash let go of her hand once they reached the clearing and Dakota couldn't help but feel a bit empty, but that was completely absurd. She already admitted it to Natasha and her other siblings. She didn't have feelings for Ash or at least that's what she kept trying to tell herself. But it was hard not to admire him in the fading light and her eyes kept drifting to his lips as he talked. She tried to pay attention, she really did, but she only caught half of the words he said. But she got the gist of it. People came, met, and left. Quite unusual in the middle of the forest.
"So you're saying that the Usurpers possibly met here?" she asked as her eyes darted to the ground to see really nothing that she could catch. She looked up at him as she walked over to him. "Couldn't they meet somewhere a little less... dangerous?" Dakota wasn't watching where she was going and missed the root that ended up tripping her and causing her to fall towards Ash.

Dakota's eyes widened a bit as Ash said he was going to take a few days off just to be with her. For a moment, she wondered if he would be okay, but she knew that he would be. It was such a long time since they spent any good quality time with one another and she was just missing his company in more ways than one. "If you can find a replacement, then I wouldn't mind the company or a few days. It's better than what I had planned anyway and that was sleeping."
Her mind was already going through wedding plans, but she knew that she had time and right now she wanted to spend that with Ash. Her siblings would want to know about their engagement and she could only guess half of their reactions. She smiled at Ash as she tilted her head to the side. "So, do you want to grab food or something to kick start our own celebration?"

Dakota had to take deep breaths to compose herself as Ash left the way. It wasn't really helping that he was so close to her and that his hand felt so nice against hers. Her mind was wandering to other aspects of their relationship and if they would still feel as good as they did back then... But she had to stay focused and make sure she was watching where she was going. They were in the forest after all and there were all those roots and stuff that could easily trip her, but she knew that Ash would catch her. Hopefully.
But he started talking and Dakota tried to listen to what he was saying, but all she could really focus on was on his lips... She shook her head trying to knock herself back in shape as she looked back at him, trying to avoid looking at his lips. "So there's a strange trail that you found?" She knitted her eyebrows together. "What makes it so?"

Dakota looked down at her hand just as Ash put the ring on her finger and she couldn't help but feel butterflies flutter around in her stomach. Just like their first date. She smiled softly as she used her free hand to wipe the tears from her face. She was probably looking like a complete mess at the moment, but she was now Ash's mess and that almost made everything a little bit better. She looked up from her hand at Ash as he started talking to her. She couldn't help but chuckle a bit as she shook her head.
"Well, I'm not losing you for a while," she said as she beamed as Ash. "And I also think that this is a pretty prefect way to start my weekend."

It wasn’t much, but could add up to something more? Dakota wondered for a second what she might have gotten herself into, but she knew she was doing this for Ash, even if it was one giant conspiracy theory or not. Dakota slowly nodded her head as she tried to put everything together. Dakota never thought Ash to be the irrational type, so this all had to be real, at least for him.
But he held out his hand towards her and Dakota paused for a moment as she couldn’t help but remember how his hands felt against hers. Everything she liked about Ash just seemed so clear at that moment and it didn’t help that she had her sister’s words echoing in her head. But he was doing this to be a gentleman. The only reason he would. She nodded her head as she reached out to take his hand, trying to ignore all the butterflies in her stomach. “Lead the way,” she said with a slight smile on her face.
